- CClareLondon •9 reviews4.0Dined 5 days agoWe came for afternoon tea - it is a stunning setting with a lovely ambience. Our waitress couldn't have been more welcoming or attentive - I wish I knew her name as she was wonderful. A little disappointed there was no non-alcohol "fizz" ion offer in place of champagne (other places sometimes offer a chilled sparkling tea for example), although I'm aware there were some non-alcoholic cocktails on the wider bar menu. The food arrived, beautifully presented and plentiful - our waitress explained everything we had (and she had checked for allergies at the start so that thoughtful adjustments had been made to my companion's sandwich selection) - she also said that additional sandwiches could be obtained on request. The sandwiches were nice, the bread a little dry in places as if they had been out for a little while before arriving at our table, but not too unpleasant to eat. We did both request a single extra sandwich but this took so long to arrive we had already proceeded to our scones and rather lost our appetite for the sandwiches! The scones with jam and clotted cream were delightful - I could not manage two, and then struggled to eat 2 of the 4 stunning cakes on the top tier, but our waitress provided a takeaway box so that we were able to take home the uneaten items (my family enjoyed these!). Overall I would say it was a good experience, I would certainly revisit The Ned again, and at £50 a head, it is a reasonably priced afternoon tea - not as good as Fortnum's or The Lanesborough (but not nearly as expensive either). We had a very pleasant afternoon - the ambience was relaxed and the staff friendly. Just a few small touches as mentioned would make it perfect, but I would recommend to others for a reasonably priced afternoon tea in the City. Thank you, especially to our lovely waitress.More infoMillie’s Lounge at The Ned LondonPrice: Very Expensive• British• Bank•4.4
