Best Restaurants for Foodies in Ala Moana

My husband and I went to Basalt with friends to celebrate a birthday. We were treated by a friendly hostess and shown to a table quickly. Our server came to our table quickly as well and told us about the menu and took drink orders. Our appetizer of crispy cauliflower was delicious! We split house salads which were fresh and full of lots of goodies-not the typical lettuce and one cherry tomato. We had mains of Black Cod, Salmon Risotto, Mushroom Risotto and Pork Chop. All perfect and delicious. The Black Cod being one of the best I've had. Dessert was a piece of chocolate mouse cake with a candle to celebrate the birthday and mochi brownie. Death by chocolate for sure and well worth it! Basalt is located in an Asian Grocery Store-but the restaurant is decorated nicely and has a lovely outdoor patio. The bar takes center stage and bartender gave quite the performance while we were there. It was fun and memorable. A most definite search out off the busy streets of Honolulu. Go!

The food and service was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was wonderful, we sat outside and enjoyed a nice evening dinner with good drinks!

We returned here for our anniversary. And again are so pleased with the friendly, efficient service. The food is delicious and served quickly. The clam miso soup is my favorite! We will be back.
