The Ivy restaurant has been a firm fixture on London’s dining and social scene since 1917. The restaurant and private room upstairs are the epitome of real glamour. A shimmering central dining bar in the restaurant draws admiring attention, and the signature harlequin stained-glass windows, oak panelling and striking contemporary art collection ensure the longevity of this very British of dining institutions. Executive Chef Patrizio Petrucci creates balanced seasonal menus, featuring Ivy classics, but accounting for today’s tastes, incorporating more Asian dishes, salads and vegetables. Director Gavin Gosnell leads a strong and experienced team to deliver the unfaltering service for which The Ivy has become well known over the years. The Ivy welcomes customers without reservations at the central dining bar, where the A La Carte and Set menus are both served.

What a fabulous experience. Superb food and wine pairing. However, I think the service deserves a special mention. Spot on at every turn, and there’s clearly a real effort to make you feel at ease.

The atmosphere and the service are nice. But the food is expensive and terrible. We had almost everything from the Menu and the meat and fish did not taste fresh or of higher quality. The sushi is Tesco standard. I ordered kimchi rice and chicken. They gave me tiny cubes of chicken that felt it came out of a can and you can count them on your finger. My partner ordered prawn burger and it was super greasy. Our friends ordered starters which they couldn’t finish because they were just terrible and they also ordered fried rice and chicken. Chicken again was dry and of sub standard quality. The fried rice was okay. We did not order any alcohol and our bill for four people came to almost 180. It’s an insane amount for low quality food. But as I said service and atmosphere is good. So I would go to white city house again but definitely not eat there

Had a fantastic meal at Chet’s, a Thai-Americana gem in Shepherd’s Bush that blends the bold, smoky flavors of Southeast Asia with the nostalgic comforts of a classic American diner. I went for the BBQ Rice Bowl with Grilled Aubergine (£12)—a deliciously smoky, well-balanced dish that really hit the spot. My friend had the Tuna Melt (£16), and wow, this wasn’t your standard sandwich! The tuna larb filling, packed with mint, coriander, red onion, and Kewpie mayo, was next-level. Add melted American cheese and a crispy, golden bread exterior, and it’s easily one of the best tuna melts I’ve tried. The coffee was great, rounding out the meal nicely, though I wasn’t the biggest fan of the crisps on the side—just a personal preference. Overall, a fantastic spot with unique flavors, a cool vibe, and well-executed dishes. Would I return? Absolutely.
