Best Restaurants for Afternoon Tea in Newton-in-Cartmel

Here with my 97 year old mother and my wife who has her birthday today. Busy on arrival as there was a function in a different area which was just arriving at the same time. We were spotted quickly and efficiently looked after, Staff were lovely. Food was great. Mum couldn't manage all here Steak Pie as the porton was just a bit big for a 97 year old!!! A good value menu too. We were really happy and thank you.

I love this Restaurant, the staff are amazing and so attentive. The food here is delicious and well priced. It’s also great to see a good selection of Vegetarian options as believe me we get rather bored of veg pastas and nut roasts.

Lovely peaceful place to dine can't wait to come back with the children.

We both chose the set menu. 3 courses with good options was excellent value for money. The prawn cocktail was particularly good. The highlight was the sticky toffee dessert which I can honestly say is the best I have ever had. Choices for the main course were not overly exciting but beautifully presented. I opted for the haddock served in a cheese sauce which I enjoyed. The service was excellent, friendly but non intrusive. The dining room was full yet we were served promptly and made to feel welcome. The dining room itself is a special treat overlooking the lake.

We had excellent food, sea bream and chicken, friendly and very service oriented staff. Unfortunately we got a Chinese couple next to us whose smacking, slurping and spitting of their starter was so loud and disgusting that we decided to leave earlier than planned … hope a better experience next time.
