Really delicious meal for three friends, lovely serving staff, nice ambience. Fan on for a hot evening. Three course all delicious, and £58 each, which is really not bad for the level of quality and amount of food and drink we consumed.

Lovely gastro pub, in Fingest, a picturesque Chiltern Village in the Hambledon Valley, close to Henley on Thames. Had the weather been better, the garden at The Chequers would have been ideal for drinks or a pub lunch. We ate indoors, in the restaurant, which was quite busy, as you’d expect on a Sunday afternoon. Good food options on the menu. Roast beef with all the trimmings. Vegetarian Wellington and Eton mess for dessert. Not the cheapest Sunday lunch I’ve ever had, but the food and service were worth the price.
