Built in 1591, the Tolbooth Tavern in Edinburgh was formerly part of the original Canongate Tolbooth. This medieval building was used to divide the Royal Burgh of Edinburgh and Canongate.     My husband and I booked this before heading to Edinburgh. It did not disappoint! We shared the small plate of battered cod goujons, while I had the oysters with scotch bonnet and whiskey hot sauce. Amazing! Then he chose the chicken larger plate and I had the sea trout. Both were just as fabulous as the small plates. We finished off with the chocolate cremeux. While the food and wine were great, our server was also attentive and helpful in making selections. Highly recommend!

    It was great to provide complimentary oyster to each customers, and they were fresh and yummy . We ordered shellfish platter, pot of mussels and grilled king prawn. All of the dishes were delicious and generous portions. The staff were also friendly and cheerful.

    Traditional pub decor and menu situated in an incredible building with an interesting history. The food was simple but delicious. We had the cullen skink smoked fish chowder and steak pie. Recommend both! The service was very friendly and efficient. We really enjoyed our evening at this pub!
