This is one of the best restaurants in Detroit. Everything about it--from the old-school basement atmosphere, live music, stellar service, and fantastic food--is exceptional. I try to visit at least twice a year, and am never disappointed.

Ladder 4, no notes. Truly exceptional in every way. The building has charm, the wine list is world-class, the food is thoughtful and intentional, and the staff is both friendly and knowledgeable. There’s not much more you could ask for. Hands down, one of my favorite places in the country for food and wine. Well done, Ladder 4 team.

Definitely our new favorite restaurant! Five stars all the way up and down. Left and right! A bit difficult to get in and now we know why. What an incredible experience and it was worth the wait. My favorites were the lamb skewers, the roasted chicken, mushrooms, focaccia, the Romanian salad and the montepulciano red wine. Their somelier is very knowledgeable Btw! Can’t wait to return to this gem! To one of the owners: Thank you for stopping by our table to say hello and ask about our experience.

Due to being a really rainy day we were not able to enjoy the beautiful patio, and dined inside. As did everyone else and it was quite loud. Other than that the ambience, food and service were all amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the guacamole appetizer was a standout. Some of the best I have had. This is my 4th visit and each time has been great.

Service was good. Food was good. We celebrated on 80th birthday and brought her own cake when our food was done they brought it out with the lit candles to surprise the birthday boy.!!

    Many items of interest on the menu. Very authentic menu. Excellent ambience. Service was absolutely excellent; friendly, timely, knowledgeable and attentive. Food was very good. Would have preferred an expanded wine by the glass offering. Will return to Cafe Cortina in the future
