I invited two colleagues from Canada to the Fish Market and both have returned to Canada saying the Fish Market was the highlight of their week in London.
They were very impressed with the food, the excellent service and recommendations as well as the superb ambience of the restaurant.
I am certain that, on their return next year, they will demand a return.
Unpretentious restaurant that serves good seafood in basic but pleasant surroundings. The draught wine is good and the set lunch menu is very good value for money.
So glad that I chose fish market for my overnight stay in London. The food and drink were phenomenal and the service was especially personalized.
It’s not amazing, and took quite a while for our mains to arrive when the restaurant wasn’t super busy. But overall it’s a good deal for central London and it’s a nice spot.
A really nice and relaxed place with good food. I would definitely recommend this place.
my godson 2 times a year-great.
value/staff/food he loves it
Value for money great, good house wine and friendly waiters,
Lovely place to have a meal with friends, attentive staff
Fish market is an excellent restaurant that I keep going to. It is in the city but not a stuck up place. It is perfect both for business dinners and for pleasure!
Nice place for a business lunch. It is quiet enough so you are not having to scream and the tables are spaced out well. The food is good but I found for what I was getting the prices were a bit on the high side. I would consider going back though if in the area.
This was my first experience going to a seafood restaurant. Definitely a must go. The staff were very welcoming, will go above to accommodate. The food was amazing. Hint: Go for the octopus.
Great spot to grab dinner with a friend and catch up, set menu is excellent and affordable , staff is very friendly and always smiling! Keep it up fish market!
Good quality fish and attentive staff in a nice setting.
Sat outside and staff friendly enough with service. But good underwhelming. Prawns tasted like cheap supermarket prawns that had been defrosted. Fish was ok but not exciting. But for the price there are much better alternatives nearby. I had been before and had the same feeling then. Will I return? Probably not...
Lovely restaurant, fresh seafood cooked to perfection, will definitely return!
Good value lunch although surprised to find the deal I thought I had booked was not available. Service let them down - I asked for the fish of the day without butter and explained that I was lactose intolerant. When the mains were delivered, mine was covered in butter which meant a wait for me whilst my friend ate. No real apology from the waitress.
Not cheap but service and food good
Lovely place and great fish. Only quibble is it was cold in the restaurant but that's cos it's so popular as the door opened frequently.
Good range of seafood dishes, including non seafood option. Starters were good, my friend had the salmon salad, and i had the fish pie. Fish pie was overly creamy and overly buttery without a balanced flavour profile. I couldn't finish it and left at least 1/3 as I felt it was too sickly and couldn't eat any more of it. I would not recommend the fish pie at £19.50 for the size and poor execution of the dish.
Portion sizes seem to have shrunk a bit, and prices gone up... But then again, brexit looming is causing all kinds of price increases.
Lovely touches as was celebrating a birthday. Only downstairs was it was practically empty on a Friday night so lacked a bit of atmosphere sadly. Food and service both great though
Food was super tasty and flavourful. You could see and taste the freshness of the fish they serve!
Huge sharing seafood platter, and the octopus is a must if dining here at fish market.
Thanks to all the staff and the chefs. Very happy with my visit.
Lovely evening, we sat outside in the front as it was lovely & warm. We ordered from the Evening Standard menu. Great value & the food was good!
My fish portion was tiny...... very disappointed. I had to order another main!
Great menu and wonderful staff. Lobster was a good size, I asked for it steamed but it was a tiny bit underdone (translucent in areas!) oysters were a little bit on the small size, but nice. Grilled octopus was delicious after we sent it back for a bit more grilling. Outdoor terrace is lovely on a warm day. We enjoyed it as it was nice and informal, get the food execution right and it’ll be 5 stars.
Service was very slow, we had to ask to order drinks/food, oysters took about 15/20 minutes to arrive and when they did they were luke warm and not cold, a lot of the ice had melted underneath so assume they sat for a while. Took a long time for them to be cleared after finishing.
Food was okay, fish slightly under and expensive for what it was considering no sides are included.
Had to ask for the bill as no one came to us.
Overall a very average experience.
Very nice evening at Fish Market
we loved the relaxed feel of this place – I definitely would return to try more dishes. As a fish lover this place was ideal. we had the brunch and with the bubbles flowing and the great fish dishes we will back
Overall good but my linguine was very bland tasting
Delicious fish, hidden so close to the station. Excellent value with the set menu offer.
The menu is quite short, which is good as it allows them to specialise and produce very good food. The whitebait was excellent, as was the softshell crab. Prices are reasonable. Service was excellent.
Outside terrace venue was nice but the service was slow and food was average.
Oysters were not big and food was ok, not inspiring.
Wine was good but not sure if this is my first choice of fish restaurant for a business meal.
Food was lovely.
I can't believe we found this place last minute on a Friday evening!
We had the set menu and were amazed. The fish were quite big and super fresh, cooked to perfection. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Looking forward to coming back and try some of the dishes from the other menu or the Saturday brunch
Lovely food very tasty will dine again
This restaurant is a bit of hidden gem near liverpool street. Really good fish that is fresh and cooked perfectly. The ultimate fish burger is the best I have had in London. Well worth a visit.
Excellent food and service and a nice ambience
Set menu was a great deal, though the waiter only brought out the set menu when asked about it.
Ceviche was ok, I’ve had better (not acidic enough and tiny portion) but the mussels were very good.
What a find!
I have walked past the Fish Market on some many occasions but had never visited. Booked in for a late Saturday brunch before an event, so unfortunately could not partake in the bottomless Prosecco.
We all had two courses with choices including crumpet with poached eggs, avocado and crab and for the mains, our husbands both had The Ultimate Fishcake which they said "was to die for!" I had the fish of the day which was seabream which was delicious. This entitled us to 4 free oysters which was a nice touch.
The only negative is that its really noisy due to being quite industrial feel of the building/décor with no soft furnishing to dull the sound.
Regardless, would love to come for brunch when not in a hurry and order the Seafood platter. Would thoroughly recommend
Amazing dinner, great service and lovely company.
