Fish Market has been in the City of London a long time and has always been a great place for lunch and dinner. A truly enjoyable and excellent quality meal. Will definitely return and recommend.

A last minute search on Open Table uncovered this delightful restaurant hidden down a back street near Bishopsgate. I was on my own and keen to escape the Saturday football chants outside the pubs. However, peaceful as this certainly was, it was also virtually empty. A family of four was the only other guests and they left half way through. This lovely open space was consequently rather echoey and I felt very much alone with my book. However, the staff were very pleasant and, considering there weren’t many of us to look after, also not too intrusive. I started with a delightful plate of scallops which I wiped clean. The cod main course was delicious. And I enjoyed the glass of Chablis. However, the spinach was very soggy and the salsa verde just tasted of onions. I felt sorry for all the staff that had to Work for so few diners. And, while I don’t object to paying well for good meals, I did not feel the meal merited the £90 final bill.

Food was excellent as always but the service was rather slow. It was not busy when we arrived. Got busy and then everyone else seemed to have left and we were just getting our main courses. Still a good lunch though.

Had a lunch with 2 friends. We sat outside on a lovely sunny day in a comfortable, covered, shady area. It was clean and quiet with no cars passing , just a few people walking past. It didn’t feel like we were just around the corner from Liverpool Street station. The food was delicious. We had fried whitebait to start and fish croquettes. Seabass fillets as main. All cooked beautifully and so fresh and tasty. We had dessert. Forest berry pavlova, crème Chantilly & raspberry sorbet, Dark chocolate mousse, raspberry compote and a selection of sorbets. It was a set menu lunch at £30 for 3 courses and a glass of house wine which was very good. Such good value.

Fish was some of the best I’ve had for a while, the sharing fish platter was beautifully prepared and served, really tasty, especially the Octopus in a slightly spicy sauce.
