We"re a family focused restaurant serving an array of authentic homemade Italian dishes 7 days a week, whilst downstairs River Bar offers a great place to relax and socialise while enjoying stunning views across the River Wear.
First time in this restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Portions were amazing and piping hot.
Full of flavour and fantastic value for money.
Slow service we asked if there was a cocktail of the week as advertised but not available starter was very salty also main course had to be sent back. Too much chilli in the pasta dish. I was given a fresh one. The tables and chairs now look shabby. Its gone downhill since our last visit
The food was very tasty but the portion were not value for money.
First Time out in a long while, restaurant was looking very nice and the staff where first class. Only thing that spoilt it was the amount of salt on some of the food. We did our best to remove as much as we could from the garlic bread, but it was un-eatable in parts. Also my steak was very salty. It was nice to see more spacing in-between the table.
Food was such great value and very nice, service we had to wait it seemed to catch someone’s attention for drinks or to pay our bill.
Booked last minute. Sunday lunch was good value plenty of veg and meat was nice, however came in really thick slices so should have offered steak knife, I know we could have asked, just our personal preference for thinner slices but quantity was gererous. Husband had Lasagne he said was just OK lacked seasoning. Had little bit trouble trying to get someone's attention to order deserts extra drinks etc, but all in all it was nice. We are regulars anyhow
Sunday lunch, plentiful, fresh, hot and tasty.
Very good service, as usual, from all the staff.
No longer have veg as an option . Was given chips which left. So main was indeed very small.
When we came in we gave name but weren't advise to sit and wait we were just left. Based on the couple on front we just followed suit.
Noise level was fine. However the vibrations from the bar below was concerning.
Lovely dinner, my daughter was over the moon to be able to put the toppings of her pizza on
Everything was lovely apart from garlic bread which was burnt to a crisp
Food was bland and won’t be eating there again.
Ordered pizza and risotto and both were tasteless.
Service was amazing hence paying the bill
First time back at Fiume for years, hasn't changed. Despite having two fussy diners in our party, we were pleased overall with our requests being met. Although we did have quite a long wait for our food to arrive, even though the restaurant was quiet.
Delicious food, good size portions, all nice and freshly prepared. Couldn’t quite fit in dessert after starter main pasta and a garlic bread to share between 2 of us so will just need to come back and try the starters next time.
I have always loved fuimes and worry that if it continues to be lack lustre we will lose it altogether. It just needs to tender loving care, some umph, some passion back as to what it uses to be. It needs someone who can inspire the staff and give them purpose again. I would love to help as I am passionate about the place.
Very poor to be honest pizza came out don’t think it had even been in the oven and the pasta came out normal even though we had paid for it to be spicy so sent back to chef and he must of took it funny because it was too hot it ruined our anniversary won’t go back
Good food and pleasant atmosphere been going there for about 30 years
Always come here when visiting my family in Washington. Lush food, lovely staff.
Outstanding food. Great atmosphere. Friendly, polite staff.
Large food and drinks menu? Fantastic food and the staff are friendly! We went on a Sunday night and it was really quiet!
Lovely Sunday lunch, very friendly and helpful staff.
Great service and great food! I try different things on the menu every time and I’ve not been disappointed. Lovely comfortable atmosphere to sit back and enjoy in.
Main courses were very pleasing as were most of the starters but the brochettas - both types of starter - were very poor. Toppings were good but the actual bases were like bricks. We could hardly cut them and eventually I picked up mine and bit into them. They felt like they’d been taken from a freezer and stuck in a toaster for a couple of minutes. They were unappetisingly cold and if you had dentures you couldn’t have eaten them.
Waitress was delightful and service was good.
Lovely leisurely lunch with good Service and delicious food. Big Thank you.
Service for arriving was excellent, there had been a reservation mix up which was dealt with straight away. Food was fantastic and an amazing choice. The kids menu was excellent valye for money. The girl who served us was very professional.
Fantastic food and service as always
Lovely waitress I made a mistake when ordering & she sorted it for me. Food is good and decent prices. We will go again.
Food great, service great. Seating great. Only reason why not 4 was the noise and vibration from downstairs coming right through
Lovely meal with friends and great service. Food was lovely too
Had a nice night at Fiumé Restaurant. Food was very good service excellent and would defo return. Thank you for a pleasant evening
Took a while for food to come out. Kids meal was burnt. Chicken over cooked on pizza. Mussles had 1/4 that couldn’t be eaten
Haven’t frequented here for over two years (pandemic didn’t help). Restaurant wasn’t busy and took a while to get asked for drinks. Which is fine.
Kids meal (potato skins, chicken strips/goujons) was an issue. The chicken strips was very, very, very well done, to the point we couldn’t cut them into pieces. Meal was left. £6.95 wasted apart from potato skins. No dessert ordered.
Ordered two lasagne for mains, one was perfect, one was over cooked. Meal was left. £8.95 wasted.
Mixed bread starter with balsamic dip. Four slices from a rustic bun (two toasted) and 4 breadsticks. Mountain of olives. No one wants olives with this. £3.95 for literally 4 slices of a baguette. Ate them but for nearly £8 (ordered two) bin the olives and serve rustic/artisan breads and more balsamic/olive oil dip that was done with two dips of bread.
Plus points. Piccante pizza cooked to perfection. Salmon main course again cooked to perfection. Staff friendly.
Spent £60/70, kids unimpressed (lasagne x 1 and chicken strips) so had to feed them when home which defeated the object.
Plus no tea spoon given with the pot of tea(s) ordered so Wife used a fork to remove teabag(s).
Unfortunately will not be visiting here again but past experience has been good. Maybe a bad day but only 3 or 4 covers in when we left.
Didn’t complain as too stressed with kids moaning about food and just wanted to leave before you ask.
Delicious food, brilliant customer service. Social distancing excellent
Food was lovely all 3 course ........
great service too
Staff and food always excellent
We had a nice bite to eat whilst catching up with friends.
Always great food
Been coming here for years

Inexpensive lunch good quality food. We regularly go to Fiume and will be back
Lovely food, great service only complaint would be it was a tad cold.
Great food and service also a lot more room between tables now thanks for a fab night
Food wasn't up to standards swimming in oil not cooked bland and dry
