Food quality is very good specially the buns but a bit pricey which wouldn't matter if service was great which isn't at all.
Great food - and lots of it, great service and all in all a great way to spend a Sunday!
They treated me strangely as I was dining alone and it took over 40mins to get my food when there was only 14 people in an 80 seater restaurant.
I have eaten here and at other locations plenty but today was so, so disappointing.
Delicious food. Great service. Quite £ but a good meal
We always have an excellent meal at Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden, which is just next to the Donmar Warehouse, so a great pre-theatre stop. The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Tables are a bit small, so we feel we are juggling with the dishes, but the food is really excellent. We had the £20 tray of sashimi as their Monday night special which is great value. But somehow, the bill is always high--£110 for 4 people with only 3 beers. Don't know how we managed that, so keep an eye on the tab!
The food is interesting but the service proved so slow and ineffectual that I was embarrassed in front of my guests. Two starters were sold out and the servers were oblivious- made worse by the fact they clearly didn’t care that one of our party had not been served. Her appetiser arrived with our mains. As I say, embarrassing and above a price point where this is remotely acceptable.
The food and ambiance were great, but our server was quite rude to us for seemingly no reason at all.
Actually really disappointed and l wasn't prepared to be.
I took my boyfriend here for a birthday supper.
We both love Japanese food.
We were hot tabling (maybe that's on me and l got the vibe wrong) but it was incredibly loud and l think overpriced for the mood of the restaurant.
The original dish I wanted (vegan gyoza) was sold out at 8:30pm and there were no vegan buns (the restaurant is called Flesh and Buns???) - the couple next to us (as did we) requested to pay the service charge in cash (so that our lovely and enthusiastic waitress) would get the a decent tip. She explained to us that her tips aren't given to the servers directly (the service charge was almost £10.00) and she was seeing to approximately 6 groups - she was obliged to check to see if we could pay this in cash and this was denied.
This sent me away with a very bitter taste in my mouth.
If you can't afford to pay staff you can't afford to run a business.
Stylish and and friendly front of house and staff but the restaurant is cramped and slightly too loud - something is lacking
Feeling let down.
Try another japanase more pure.
Great food and fantastic service! We had the fried squid as a starter, BBQ BEEF SHORT RIB and CRISPY PIGLET BELLY flesh and buns, and the CHOCOLATE FONDANT as desert. Everything was fantastic
We ordered soooo much food - but it is all SO TASTY!! I've been a few times and I'd certainly recommend !! The brunch is great - you'll leave very satisfied!!
Fantastic night, great food, great atmosphere, great service. Will definitely return.
Food and service good but drinks wildly overpriced.
Flesh & Buns was recommended to us by a friend. We couldn't decide what to have so we went for the tasting menu, it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be going back!
Great wine great setting great food
Really good food and excellent service - highly recommend
Eaten here a few times and it is always good. Had the pre theatre menu this time which was great. The Korean chicken wings are AMAZING! (and slightly messy, but so what!)
Go for the taster menu. Never fails to impress!
Great ambience too.
Lovely feel to the place. The salmon was great as was the crispy pig. Starters not as good
Delicious food! Good value
Everyone is very welcoming and attentive. Whenever I crave a bao I also come to this place, as I know it’s going to be yummy every time.
Incredible food backed up by impeccable service. Not the cheapest option but brilliant value for money - we had more food than we could eat. Would 100% recommend and will be returning very soon.
Great sashimi, maki rolls and incredible wagyu steak with steamed ‘bao’ buns. Brilliant service too. I will be visiting again soon. The bottomless Prosecco brunch is too much fun.
Great food, and great service!
Great food with interesting menu.
Don’t need to order too much and can add if needed.
It’s dark and relatively noisy so not good if going with hard of hearing
One of my favourites though
Very lovely evening celebration food was amazing so delicious and the staff were so attentive
The starters and mains, especially the duck, were excellent but the desserts were a bit less interesting and very sweet. It can get quite loud during the busy period because the tables are quite close together. The highlight of the evening was the service - our waitress did a great job of looking after our table. We would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Amazing in Everyway
Food very good as always usually is very fast and this time took long time to come to the table, service was unattended the didn’t really care very much about guests
Great food and fast service, but a little bit dark!
Came here before the theatre on a Saturday evening. It's a pretty nice atmosphere in there with attentive staff, not exactly a Japanese feel but that's ok. The food was good, though not outstanding. Pretty good flavours in the sushi rolls, sashimi, buns etc but nothing blew us away. We felt the portion sizes were pretty small given the price, especially comparing the sushi rolls to other Japanese restaurants we've been to. Nevertheless, it was a decent place but wouldn't be rushing to get back.
Great value for money. Good was lovely and so was the service
Really enjoyed the atmoshare with the dim light setting and ambience. The staff was very polite and attentive, they even took their time out to explaine the dishes to me. Really would recommend the spicy Korean wings as a starter, the dumpilings as side. The wings was very well seasoned and covered with sauce, and the dumpings has to best the best dumpings I have tasted, soft and also go a sweet taste to it. Very good for a date night.
Very very tasty! Took my family and we loved it - probably ate too much :)
Lovely food and brilliant service. really friendly and helpful staff.
Very cool venue in the basement . Love the atmosphere . Food is always delicious and fun to share with a group of friends. It can sometimes be a bit slow but that hasn’t stopped me from going a few times now!
Asked to find a restaurant as my mum wanted to treat my niece and her boyfriend to a meal whilst we were in London. Have been before with my youngest daughter and as enjoyed the experience thought it would suit us all. The meal was very good, our waitress was so helpful and the food just kept coming. All left feeling full and having thoroughly enjoyed the meal, restaurant gets quite noisy when full but this doesn't detract from the experience.
Food was amazing, we had a range of small plates, sashimi and the titular flesh & buns - short rib specifically which was cooked beautifully.
All the food was lovely and the service was great with helpful recommendations on an unfamiliar menu.
The kinako donuts for dessert are worth a special mention if you’re a sweet tooth - ridiculously good!
I have no hesitation to recommend and will be going back.
We went for my wifes birthday and we all loved it. The food and service was great and so original.
We do not eat meat and there was plenty on the menu for us.
