Flesh & Buns Covent Garden
Below street-level, the restaurant has a bar area offering bar dining for up to 10 people, serving a variety of sake brands and a diverse range of cocktails including the signature Frozen Yuzu Margarita, alongside the restaurant’s varied sharing food menu. Draped fabric ‘noren’ screen curtains surround intimate dining booths and transport diners to an authentic Japanese drinking den experience – bookable and ideal for groups of friends or colleagues meeting for lunch, dinner or Flesh & Buns’ ever-popular Sunday Brunch.
Really good food and a nice mood for the evening. Staff were also really nice. Next time I would book a private table rather than standard seating as it can be hard to hear the person opposite.
Great place and lovely food. Will definitely go back
I thought the ambiance and service was great but the food was very over-priced! Having to pay for buns and a measly "salad" is ridiculous.
Food is great and ambient is good. Service wasn't great this time. We asked for the dessert menu and got the check instead. Waiters always insist on us getting more food while we know what we order is the right amount. We would not be able to finish everything if we followed their advice.
Great food! Few super loud tables but good atmosphere otherwise.
Service could have been a little bit more on the ball. Always quite slow in coming over to us and the dishes both came out different times which meant I had almost finished eating before my friend had gotten their food.
The reasoning was because it was a popular dish.
Well 1 of our friends was at least 45mins late, which was a very disappointing start to what promised to be a enjoyable night. Danny made way to many gags about cold hard buns but we managed to avert a bun catastrophe by eating them in the allotted time frame. All in all it was a bunderful evening
Always wonderful place to catch up or gathering with friends, family! My first choice to go in Covent Garden!
Excellent restaurant all round. Great for entertaining, interesting food
We shared sushi and sashimi. The best we’ve had in London! My husband even ordered some more salmon sashimi for dessert. His face spoke volumes!
the food was very good, good portion sizes, friendly service staff, fast service, a bit too loud and crowded, but overall great experience
As always a very well executed and tasty outing.
Great food. Was v busy but food kept coming out. Only downside tables very close together. Great for upbeat evening but not so good if cosy and intimate is what you want.
The food was as good as ever, but we were seated at one of the tall tables in the middle of the restaurant and it was a bit stressful, mainly because of the high noise level and the rushed feeling you get there. Perhaps we hit a very busy time on a Thursday night. I would definitely go back again, but try to hit a quieter time.
Very convenient for Covent Garden. Steak cooked very well, everything of high quality and presented well. Freshly made sushi
Went for the Sunday Brunch option-food was absolutely incredible and staff were so attentive. Was definitely a bit warm in the restaurant with the warm weather outside, but overall we had an incredible time!
Lovely place in the heart of Covent garden. Very fresh sushi and love love love the buns!!
Always look forward to going there, never disappoints
Absolutely wonderful food - but be careful to read the prices in their menu very carefully.
My friend and I went for a pre-theatre menu with one gin and tonic each and ended up paying nearly £40 per person! (Tonic is not included and there's a hefty service charge.)
Lovely place, we just ended up paying quite a bit more than we budgeted for.
Was a Thursday night went for dinner with international visitors for a business dinner
The manager kept pushing and reminding us that by eight o'clock we had to leave! We arrived at 6 and we understood that we only had two hours but every ten minutes he was coming to remind us which really put a bit of a bad environment for us to enjoy the food
Other tables around us that joined at the same time as us were not having the same push on the time at 7.50 he already presented us with the bill with no ask I g of we were finished, was very disappointed as my previous visits had been so good
The restaurant itself & food was great. It's an interesting menu & good if you need really fast service, we were in and out.
Loved the fried squid, tuna sushi and the bao buns in general are amazing. The only thing we didnt love was the veggie gyoza which was a little bit too heavy on the garlic for our taste. Staff was very friendly and we love going here for a date night!
Flesh and Buns is one of my favorite restaurants for asian food however, have not been happy with the service for the last couple of times I visited. It is quite disturbing to have someone asking whether you finished all the time as well as taking your plates. It takes ages when it comes to asking someone to bring salad with buns or a little more ginger with sushi. All the people who work there were friendly but I simply thought that service was slow as the restaurant was not busy and there were more than enough ppl working on.
I would like to come back again however, would be happier to be left alone rather than getting stressed out about someone asking if I finished my plate or not (althought we were still continuing)
Amazing food, staff ambience and service. Will be back- drinks were great too
Went with friends after drinks.. lovely food, great service. Throughly enjoyed it
Some dishes were really delicious- miso aubergine bun! Hot stone rice! S’mores! Service was friendly but spotty. Ambiance is fun. Big booths good for groups of six. Excellent cocktails. Fun night in Covent Garden. I’d go back.
Excellent food, only issue was when I asked for 175ml glass of wine and was given 125ml - this happened twice!
Nice, pleasant lunch.
Great service and good food.
Distinctly average and overpriced
Excellent food, but busy and noisy
Didn’t like being sat at communal table
The restaurant had a lovely ambience and decor. However, the food was really overpriced for what I would describe as bland. Between my partner and I, we had korean wings, the pork katsu, Japanese fried chicken, steamed rice and the steamed buns.
The best thing in the table were the dumplings. The katsu had a barely a few spoons of curry sauce in a bowl to mask the dryness, the fried chicken was dry and tasted like nothing, perhaps the two dishes of bbq mayo was put there to disguise the nothing taste.
I have no problem paying for a decent meal but you feel cheated when it is not the case. I'll try bone daddies next time to see if that is any better. If not, waga's it is
Great concept and food of high quality. Service was good considering how busy the restaurant was.
The food and ambience is consistently great but I think the seating gets smaller and smaller every time I return to the Covent Garden branch. Could barely fit our meals on the table and the person next to me had a lot of bags they littered all around me giving me less space to move at all. I spent the whole time trying not to knock anything over.
Nonetheless the service is great, staff pay attention to detail and are always helpful when you need them.
Great food, especially dessert! S’mores with fire brought to the table, nice touch.
Having eaten here previously, we were disappointed to discover our favourite dish had been changed significantly. While we enjoyed the food, the portion sizes were very small compared to our last visit. Particularly the 'Japanese Fried Chicken which the waiter had informed us had been reduced in size while the price remained the same. We originally felt eating here was both good value for money and an enjoyable experience, however this time left hungry for nearly the same cost.
I like it a lot man what can I say it’s no episode 6 bad but it’s no season 5 good either
Really good. Loved it. Ate lovely food. Would recommend.
Great atmosphere, delicious cocktails and excellent food. You can eat there until quite late so good option for after a show.
Restaurant was absolutely lovely, perfect venue for a relaxed date night. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable- recommending sake (turns out I still don’t like it but there we are!). Cocktails were delightful and the food was great. Would definitely recommend!
Food and service amazing, had the tasting menu and found it to be a fantastic way of trying all the dishes, the bao buns were amazing and the s’mores dessert was a great ending to an amazing meal
