Flor de Sal
The romance of fine dining returns to Toronto at Flor De Sal. Crisp white linens and flickering candlelight create an elegant mise en scène. In the kitchen, old-world, soul-stirring recipes get a contemporary spin. Guests of Flor De Sal will be treated to modern continental cuisine inspired by the flavours of Portugal and Mediterranean.
Great for all occasions.

Flor de Sal is one of our favourite spots to go out for a nice dinner and we refer to it as 'paradise'.
I requested a birthday dessert for Jeff when I made the reservation. I know that the request was received because the hostess made mention of the occasion to Jeff but we were served a regular dessert and I had to excuse myself from the table and request a do over. The error by no means ruined the evening, but it would have been nice to count on such a fundamental part of the celebration going flawlessly.
Ordered cataplana that had 12 baby clams and 1 shrimp, I didn’t think that was a good deal for 44$
Other than that, I love the restaurant.
Splendid food, great location. Quaint setting for a night out with that special someone.
I loved the ambiance and my friend loved the branzino but the sardines were not fresh and the croutons in my soup was stale
Hi ZubyS, Thank you for taking the time in giving your valuable feedback!First off we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the ambiance, and your friend the branzino. I would like to note the the sardines were as fresh as the branzino, since the have the same origin, and arrived at the same time. We are also sorry to hear the croutons served were not suitable for your palate. Wish you all the best! Managment.
we will return. we liked the outdoor patio. Food is excellent.
wine listyb on the expensive quality scale
A fantastic dining experience. We went there for a celebration dinner and it was perfect. The restaurant is beautifully designed, and the food was amazing. I definitely recommend the dessert sampler for those who can't decide on just one :)
Great cuisine and ambiance for a date
Beautiful decor, excellent service, intimate, and overall feels look like eating in a beautiful and upscale home. Staff are friendly and very knowledgeable of the Portuguese food, ingredients, and wine. The staff that were serving us were originally from Portugal and speaking to them about geography, festivals, and traveling added to our dining experience. Food was also excellent but I would have liked to see a few more Portuguese dishes.
The “best kept little secret” in the city (selfishly reluctantly recommending).
Absolutely beautiful decor, delicious cuisine perfectly prepared and presented, excellent staff and service with Christina (the owner) usually personally dropping by to add a personal touch!
My new favourite and now a “regular”!
Always a great evening out. Food is fabulous service superb and it is quiet so you can speak easily with your guests.
I’m not sure why it took me so long to make it to this restaurant, but I will definitely be back. The atmosphere is elegant and charming, the food was delicious with special touches between courses, and the service was fantastic.
We are happy our dinner
Bravo! This place is truly amazing. Service was fantastic, beautiful embiance and the food was to die for!
Wow, I will definitely recommend to my friends and family. I ate my dessert so quickly and forgot to take a pic. Make sure you try the custard tarts!
Beautiful place, excellent service, good food, terrific ambiance. A bit pricey, but overall worth it.
Main courses were very good, if somewhat expensive for what they were. Appetizers were sub-par for a restaurant with this reputation and price point. Foie was undercooked and Portuguese medley seemed re-heated vs. freshly made. Wine list was very limited and overpriced, with a strong emphasis on bottles >$150.
Ambiance was great. Staff was very friendly and the owner even more so. The most important though, the food was outstanding. Had the sampler appetizer, squid ink seafood risotto, my girlfriend had the pan seared salt cod. Another sampler for dessert. I can’t recommend this more, one of my all time best meals.
Great lunch al fresco! Delicious fish lunch and crisp vinho verde was exceptional. Adam was very attentive and kind and took us for a tour of the restaurant. We will definitely be back and recommend Flor de Sal. Thanks again.
The restaurant is really beautiful, the service was amazing. We loved the fact that our server was discreet but always available if we needed something.
The food and the food styling was delicious!
It was solid
Beautiful house with amazing service and special Portugese food. The bread is amazing.
Services was very good. Our waiter was super nice and helpful. The food is definitely not worth the $. Seafood wasn’t fresh and very smelly.
Food was mediocre. But atmosphere and service were great
We visited Flor de Sal for Summerlicious. I was a little disappointed with the limited choices offered, both for starter and main course. Fish (rather then clams) as a main course would have been appreciated.
I do feel that the Summerlicious lunch is rather overpriced.
Unfortunately, my friend chose to sit outside and the traffic noise is considerable even though valiant attempts have been made to mitigate this with the use of greenery and latticework.
I would recommend the restaurant but not for Summerlicious lunch...and advise indoor seating.
Service was excellent.
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and superb staff! What more could you want? Have been twice so far and will visit again.
Expensive and not good. The Portuguese appetizer medley was too salty, and most stuff were fried, which was not indicated on the menu. On the opposite the main dish, the "Cataplana" (fish, shrimp and clams) was not salty at all and had no taste at all. The quantities were very small. For desert the 2 mini custard tarts were smaller than a regular one. The patio is right on Davenport, so it's very noisy. The service was good, but the doorman was not very pleasant. The only nice thing was the decoration of the house. Not worth it.
We have been before but we brought two friends to enjoy this wonderful restaurant. Flor de Sal once again exceeded expectations: the service, food and ambiance are all excellent. We had a fantastic time and look forward to coming back soon.
Really awesome food an ambience out the noise off the street ruins it at times
Hi! We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback of your visit! We are pleased to here that you did enjoy our menu at Flor de Sal. Unfortunately sometimes sitting in the patio, the Street can be a bit noisy, especially during rush hour, nothing that we can control, but perhaps for next time just let us know and we can sit you in a different area! Thank you Cheers Flor de Sal.
Finding a parking spot near the restaurant was challenging, until they told us we can park in an empty lot across the road (but there was no sign to indicate that); once inside, service & atmosphere were excellent, the Summerlicious menu was quite enjoyable (incl the Vinho Verde), and I think the whole experience was very good value!
Food was great. The decor wonderful. Will definitely be coming back.
Hi SamM, We are pleased to see that you enjoyed your food and your visit. Thank you for taking the time in leaving your valuable feedback! Best Regards Flor de Sal.
Seafood is not as fresh as you would expect from a seafood restaurant. Main course portions were very small

Flor de Sal is a lovely, refined restaurant. The decor is upscale, bright and cheery. They have a patio, main floor dining room and bar, and a second floor dining room to accommodate different customer needs. Great for a romantic dinner, entertaining clients or a celebration. The server we had was perfect. Always there for our needs, but invisible otherwise. The chef was very welcoming and warm. My husband and I had the Summerlicious lunch, trying 6 different offerings. Everything was beautifully presented and very tasty.
Hi KayeH, Thanks for the great review! We're happy you enjoyed your visit with us. One thing we can always guarantee is awesome service—it's something we take pride in. We hope you will return again to fully experience what our regular menu has to offer. Take good care, Management
Did not disappoint. Simply outstanding. Will be back
Hi Victoriat, We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback of your visit! We are pleased to here that you did enjoy your visit at Flor de Sal, Until next time! Best Regards Flor de Sal
A wonderful destination for a special dinner. Try sharing the charcuterie and the house marinated olives between 4. Everyone gets a taste and conversation gets off to a good start.
If you are not familiar with Portuguese cuisine do not be shy about asking the staff. They are delighted to help you navigate the menu and are proud of their heritage.
Oh, and do try the Portuguese wines. As with most wines you get what you pay for. A good tip is to tell the sommelier what kind of French or Italian wine you like and they can steer you to something you will definitely enjoy.
Reservations are a must but this place should go on your list of high end restaurants to experience.
My absolute favourite newly discovered restaurant in the city!
Excellent and thoughtful service. When they found out it was our anniversary they even made a special, decorated dessert plate for us. The food was delicious, as well.
We had a wonderful evening. Thank you for making our sons birthday so special.
We spent our 50th wedding anniversary dinner at Flor de Sal...what a fabulous choice! Ricardo, our server, was professional and knowledgeable. We were seated in a small room, able to accommodate three tables. The room was beautifully appointed with fine furniture, draperies and art.
Every course was served in a timely fashion, and exquisitely plated. Our first course included a burrata salad and Piri Piri shrimp. Both were complemented by the in house made Portuguese sweet bread... delicious! Our entrees were pistachio encrusted sea scallops and rack of lamb in a black currant sauce. Each dish was enhanced by well crafted sauces and artfully plated vegetables. And finally...dessert: the house sampler, which tintillated our taste buds with a luscious custard tart and a chocolate mousse tart elegantly garnished with pear gel, edible gold and persimmon. From beginning to end a spectacular restaurant experience! Brava!
Nice ambience, set up with a modern flair for decoration. The greeting by hostess, and the owner was friendly and charming. Food was good to very good. Service was professional. The only minus was that I asked for no cilantro in my food; however, it was sprinkled over my food. When asked, the server checked with kitchen and confirmed that it was cilantro. I am not sure where the error was, with server or the kitchen but small details like this sets apart an exceptional restaurant from average. Flor de Sal is trying to be an upscale place, but this details tells me still needs improvement. The owner was noticeably absent after that mistake, whereas prior to this, she was very attentive.
Exceptional experience from service to food. You know you are in a special place when the owner takes an active interest in the details.
