Food for Friends
The restaurant caters for people with special dietary needs, there are vegan and gluten-free options for many dishes on the menu, as well as freshly baked vegan and gluten-free breads, cakes and scones every day.
Excellent food but poor service which was very disappointing for somewhere that is a Brighton institution
Had a wonderful evening. Thank you to the staff who helped make our anniversary extra special. :)
Lovely vegetarian and vegan options. Nice ambiance, friendly professional service. Good value - plenty of food. Chocolate tart was tasty and as were the cocktails. Great date night :)
Food was great, as was the service. The table was in the window and it was like being in a greenhouse - ventilation required!
Good choice on the menu, enjoyed it apart from the heat.
The food was very good but the Toilets were disgusting grubby and not clean. It said they were checked at 12pm we arrived at 12.30 light in Ladies not working no soap and Mens also not clean. They did not check them or if they did they did nothi g about the state .
Make sure your staff do their job as this really puts paying customers off!! What a shame .
I highly recommend this lovely veggie Brighton institution. We had an early dinner there on a short break and the location is great, such a good setting for watching the world go by. All the staff, particularly the waiter, were brilliant with our hot and bothered three year old! We had the sharing platter which was delicious and very generous, with all sorts of lovely salad, grains, veggie scotch egg, halloumi and dippy bits. Washed down with some delectable cocktails to end a lovely night!
Hi, we were dissapointed I am afraid - the food was average - the tofu to start was very tasty but then we had a shared platter and the halloumi was lovely, as were the scotch egss, but the rest was just a mis match of salad ...
I've been here many times over the years, this was the first time I was really disappointed with it. The service was like a Nando's and the food lacked the interest and tastiness that I recall from the past. At well north of £100 for two, its just not good value.
Lovely tasty sharing platter and we had side of fries which I think you would probably need unless we are especially greedy! Was comparable to Terre a Terre but better value for money and possibly a nicer dining experience, felt more intimate and less busy. Will definitely return soon.
First of all we found this place as #1 in Brighton and of course decided to visit it. We made a reservation, since we are on a road trip - everything is planned for every hour. We ordered a starter ‘Small Plate’ and a main course ‘Large Plate’. The starter came soon, though main dish didn’t arrive until an hour after an order. During those 45 mins after a starter waiter came once in 30 mins to say, that there was miss communication in the kitchen. No one really offered any drinks or so. Food came and it was fine. And when we asked for the bill, the OPTIONAL gratitude of 10% was already included to the bill. Since when ‘optional’ becomes mandatory? We are not happy with the experience and would rather go to another place for lunch.
The food here is always fantastic - we went for a sharing platter with a couple of small plates so got to taste a bit of everything. The raw cheesecake was a perfect way to finish off the meal. Service, however, is always quite slow but I will acknowledge that coming in at 3.30, we probably fell in between busy periods. However, I will always come here when I come to Brighton as I know that I will get a good meal.
The waitress was very unfriendly. She softened towards the end of our meal but on arrival she banged a jug of water on our table, took a drink order from my partner but didn’t ask if I wanted one (I did!) . She didn’t smile at all. The food was mediocre & overpriced. Very disappointed.
Good quality food, tasty and good size portions. Cocktails good. Service friendly and attentive.
excellent choices for my vegan friend, she thoroughly enjoyed it as did i! thank you
Service was very slow, 2 of our meals were bland
The restaurant was not busy so no excuses
Lovely fresh food, huge portions, friendly staff - slightly busy but rightly so as the food is so yummy. Would defo recommend booking as we did. Love the sharing platter it’s our favourite thing! Slightly over ordered as portions seemed bigger than we remembered! Waddled out very happy and full. Will be back!
Have been meaning to visit here for years, not sure why I waited so long. Perfect ambience, food and service. Couldn't recommend it more.
Delicious food and drinks, friendly staff. Great vegan choices.
Best vegan restaurant in Brighton
We had a sharing platter and it was delicious. The food was fresh, tasty and super healthy. The service was very attentive and the surroundings calm.
We popped back the following day for brunch which was also yummy.
Excellent friendly service, the food was wonderful. We were celebrating my daughters 18th and arrived to complimentary bubbles awaiting us and at the end of the meal, Lucy was presented with a beautiful plate decorated wishing her happy birthday and some lovely truffles with a candle, whilst the staff song to her. They really made her night extra special and memorable and if we visit Brighton again, we will definitely return.
Lovely all round. Good food, great service. Nice atmosphere. Would recommend highly. Will be back for sure.
Everything about this restaurant works. Welcome, food, service, ambience, decor, staff and value for money. We had a great time and will definitely be back when next in Brighton.
Fabulous dining experience! I highly recommend Food For Friends.
We travel to Brighton as much as possible to walk and shop we always eat at F4F as we love the food and fresh cocktails, on this visit we were very disappointed with the change of menu and the cocktails are no longer made to order on site, instead made every other day and bottled into the restaurant, I have said I would recommend but we were very disappointed on this occasion.
As a regular birthday venue for my family and I , food for friends never disappoints
We had a wonderful and very relaxed meal at Food For Friends - a return visit as we've eaten there many times and never been disappointed. Thank you!
Lovely meal. It was our anniversary and the waiting staff brought out a complimentary dessert. It was delicious and really well presented. It made our day
Fantastic beautiful food, really friendly service from waiting staff that wished us happy mothers day. Food came fast but we were allowed to keep the table to chat and digest long after we were finished and didn't feel pressured. Great discount, lovely atmosphere. We had a great time.
Excellent food and service. Ambiance comfortable. Water should have been chilled.
A nice higher end vegetarian and vegan restaurant.
On a day trip to Brighton we had a lovely meal at Food for Friends. My wife and I shared the Artisan Bread and house marinated olives which was delicious followed by the house vegan burger and my wife had the mushroom and pearl onion stroganoff. The mushroom and pearl onion stroganoff was rich and flovoursome and my burger was very tasty. Most importantly both plates were clean before the waiter took them away. To finish things off I had the Vegan Brownie with chocolate sauce and raspberry sorbet which was very rich and satisfying with the tartness of the sorbet balancing bitterness of chocolate. My wife had the cardamom chia seed pudding with mango coulis which she thought was excellent as she had never had this type of dessert before. We both had a cocktail before leaving my wife having a delicious Call me Koko and myself plumping for the Espresso Martini, we were both very impressed and thought this rounded off our visit very nicely. We are both looking forward to returning to Food for Friends in the not too distant future.
Has become very ordinary. A pleasant but unexceptional meal. Disappointing. Won’t bother again.
Really polite and professional service. Everything explained and food was great! Highly recommended.
Sadly disappointing. Service terrible and food bland. There are better choices in Brighton.
The food and staff catered to our every need as we were a mixed bag of dietary needs and age ranges. But we had an extremely enjoyable family birthday lunch, so thank you.
I was really disappointed with my latest visit to Food for Friends. It was a late Sunday lunchtime and I was with a friend for lunch. The service was friendly but extremely slow, despite it being fairly quiet in our part of the restaurant. The black bean burger was frankly unpleasant, mushy and tasteless - definitely not the usual quality I get or expect there. The only good things were the chips and the side order of broccoli. It was £50 for two main courses and one side and two soft drinks, so it definitely wasn’t value for money either. It’s a shame. I’ll come back but I’ll take my time.
Perfect meal. Told the waitress we were celebrating our engagement so were treated to two glasses of Prosecco and chocolate truffles - on the house!
Couldn’t recommend this lovely restaurant and really lovely staff enough.
Excellent atmosphere, service and delicious food and cocktails!!
