Beautiful food with lovely service, we had such a lovely experience here and would definitely come again! Nice for a special occasion as food is a little pricey but definitely worth it.
Lovely, creative veggie cooking. Plenty of vegan options. Middle eastern influences. Delicious
Always enjoy eating here, exceptional vegetarian and vegan food healthy and indulgent availability. Wonderful desserts.
Excellent vegetarian restaurant in the heart of the lanes in Brighton great food. Good service and great location. Will definitely be returning when next in Brighton
Great food. Could have irdered everything off the menu and super friendly staff!
When we arrived 5 mins after our booking time, our table had been given to someone else. Fortunately one other table was available and we were seated. However, there was no apology and the staff thought it ok to discuss the problem in our hearing without explanation or apology, my partner, celebrating a significant birthday, was annoyed and we didn’t enjoy the experience as much as we’d hoped. Service at the table however was good. Food just ok but not great. Music too loud :( won’t be back in a hurry.
Another wonderful meal - thank you Food for Friends!
We aren't vegetarian but the food here is really lovely and it's a place good to go if you want to try something different. I had a gorgeous salad made with grilled peaches, halloumi cheese, avocado, cashew nuts and various other things - I wouldn't usually order a salad, but this was very tasty and filling.
I also had a non-alcoholic cocktail, and then one of their (alcoholic!) 'liquid desserts'.
Went here for a special occasion and were keen to go somewhere where we had a great choice of vegetarian and vegan options. The service was great, despite a long wait for cocktails and we had a great meal.
Went for my graduation meal with my mother, sister and girlfriend. Me and my girlfriend have been frequently over the last year and it has never disappointed.
Took a friend for a notable birthday celebration as she is vegetarian but had never been there before. Food was great (though personally I think I prefer the autumn/winter menus) as usual and whilst our waitress was brilliant we unfortunately encountered a lengthy wait between our starters and mains. Our waitress did make sure we knew that we hadn't been forgotten but there was still quite a wait after this point. That said, Food for Friends ultimately compensated us for the wait so all credit to them. Will definitely be returning to this fab restaurant.
Great vegan meal; previous visit the food wasn't great - it's sorted that out
Lovely friendly staff, delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere.
We were in Brighton on holiday and we wanted to go to this restaurant but they were fully booked so we made a point of booking for the following day. Despite my non-vegetarian fussy son we all found something delicious to eat. This restaurant doesn't serve coke but they were very accommodating when I asked if my son could drink one I brought in. Staff were very friendly and the service was great. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.
This is the second time that we dined at Food for Friends, and the first with our carnivore teenage daughters! Pre meal cocktails were a fab start whilst nibbling on some great tofu cubes and skinny fries. The presentation of the food, from the simple tasty soup of the day to the Black Olive Polenta and Halloumi and Peach Salad was as excellent as the first time we ate here. Vegetarian, Vegan or otherwise I would heartily recommend this restaurant to your taste buds : )
The prosecco was o.k. and the olives were fine. My salad with tahini however, was very dissappointing. It was like a plate of soggy green hair with the odd jewel of pomegranite and tastless cubed sweet potatoe. Soggy, flavourless and dull aside from the tahini. It was my Vegan daughter's 17th Birthday which i had specified on the on line booking. I rang later to ask if we could have a window table, "oh yes that's fine", i was told and it's, Oh, it's your daughter's birthday" Yes, that's right i said on the phone. We did not get a table by the window and no reference was made to my daughter's birthday all evening. You were not overly busy that night, with half your tables empty at 8.30p.m. on Monday and yet we waited , 40/ 45 minutes for our main course!. Overall, i was very dissappointed and angered by the whole experience. I was loathed to make to speak my mind on the night as i didn't want to spoil my daughter's evening with our Friends and she was quite happy with her burger. It really would take a lot for me to return to Food for Friends which is sad, as i have seen it change and evolve over my 20 years of living in Brighton. I have to say, sitting at your restaurant feeling glum made me long for the delicious and exquisite food and service i have enjoyed at Terre a' Terre over the years.
This was my second visit and I love it, we were met by the friendly team who all looked after us from start to paying the bill...
we had the Vegan sharing platter and had the veg supplements as sides... great value, great taste and the presentation was fantastic.
I am so happy that we came here and there was no pressure at all, even when we were asked if we wanted to looked at desserts. We said we wanted vegan ice cream and we asked where it might be.
This is a top class restaurant and the food is very good, anyone wanting great Vegan/Vegetarian food I 100% recommend and if you are a “flexitarian” then this will only prove how good this food can be.
This has been our favourite restaurant for some time however although the ambience and service is still great the food was a bit disappointing. The presentation was good as expected but the food lacked taste. Not sure we will be going back.
From the moment we arrived, we were treated exceptionally well.
The menu is fantastic and all in all this is a well thought out experience.
The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was great, very attentive and speedy. However, the food was very pricey for what it was, I had the open ravioli and it was just tin tomatoes and vegetables. My date's food tasted awful, they had the Inari Wraps which tasted like playdough. All in all the food wasn't great, apart from the chips, and for the price, wasn't worth it.
This was one of my long-standing favourite places to eat … not any longer. I am Coeliac and the gf selection, which used to be good, is now disappointing. I ended up with a starter and a side, not the evening meal I had anticipated. Worst of all was the so-called Basil and Berry Eton Mess pud, which turned out to be a huge dollop of cream with a sliver of green meringue (basil?) and two or three tiny spots of lilac meringue (berry?) as decoration, sprinkled with masses of dried rose petals and a heap of chocolate crumbs + a garnish of HALVED blackberries (yes, halved blackberries!) and segments of strawberry. I popped the tiny mouthfuls of meringue and fruit into my mouth but couldn't cope with the dried rose petals and heap of sickly cream which was left. The service was bizarrely over the top friendly considering I couldn't have any of the food I wanted! Not an enjoyable dining experience.
The flavours in our shared platter had to be tasted to be believed! There was plenty of vegan choice and the staff were knowledgable, helpful and friendly. We returned for lunch the next day!
I went to food for friends over 10 years ago and always remembered the amazing vegetarian options. I was not disappointed when my husband booked a table for us whilst away on my surprise birthday break to the nearby Lewes (ON THE BIG GREEN BUS!)
The staff were friendly and attentive to both my husband and I and our toddler, a great children's menu on offer. The menu was extensive and I had a delicious meal.
The cocktails were amazing! I sampled 3 different cocktails throughout the meal and all of them were delicious and the recommendations from staff appreciated.
Have eaten at FfF many times over the years and it has never lost its way. Still a joy and the food is always high quality
Friendly, happy staff, well presented and nutritious food in very pleasant environment. What's not to like about Food for Friends?
The food was so incredible! I was really impressed with their vegan options, and for once I felt like I was winning with the options on the menu. They knew a lot about their menu, and was super attentive and lovely. Overall an awesome experience and I cannot wait to go back and try some of those puddings!
Had an absolutely wonderful evening. Food was amazing. Welcoming, accommodating and friendly service. Relaxing and comfortable table outside, as requested. Perfect - thank you!
Good food. Menu could do with being a little more extensive. Our food was good, though, but perhaps a little too much endive in the salad for our liking. The place could do with a lick of paint, it’s getting a bit scruffy I’m afraid.
Price is reasonable, but not cheap so I feel demands a little more than is currently delivered
We are regular visitors and enjoyed yet another wonderful meal. Service was a little slow due to kitchen issues, however the waiters were very accommodating
Fantastic vegetarian food, very tasty and imaginative use of ingredients. Lovely friendly waitress and great to see oval beers on offer too
We absolutely loved dining at Food for Friends. This was my very first time going to a vegetarian restaurant and the food was divine. The staff was incredibly polite and provided excellent service even though it was a busy Sunday evening. The value for money is also great - for 2 people: starters, mains, mocktails and dessert cost is about £70. We so much enjoyed it the first time we dined there that we went back a day later!
It was great
Lovely food, really good vegan options and incredible desserts!
Food is fairly overpriced for what it is but the service and ambience was very good
Very Lovely food nice wine
Reliably excellent, with frequent menu revamps and lots of vegan choices, my favourite restaurant for a treat.
I took a day trip down to Brighton by myself and booked Food for Friends because of the great reviews for vegetarian food. I was by myself so they sat me next to a window with a view across to some pubs which was great for people watching. The wait staff were really friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. Every dish I had was amazing and packed with flavour. They had a veggie Sunday roast with a vegan option but I went for the main menu and had the tofu rolls and then the arancini which was definitely the best arancini I've had eating out. The berry cashew cheesecake and espresso Martini at the end were to die for!
Great food, great service. High quality vegetarian and vegan cooking. Great kids' menu. Fantastic vegan roast, amazing smoothies. Gorgeous puddings. Highly recommended.
We went to Food for Friends on a recommendation all the way from Cambridge for our wedding anniversary. Booked on-line and arrived a little early, had a couple of cocktails which were excellent. Bit of a problem with our table not being ready due to the last diner taking to long however they gave us another table until he left and then moved us to the "Bay Window" (great views of the street scene). The menu has a good choice but not so large so you think everything is pre-prepared. Not being veggies we just chose something that sounded good and went for it. They were very happy for us to share the course between us and made extra plates and cutlery available when needed. The service was excellent, you could not have expected better. The food was extremely interesting and of the highest quality and certainly different from any thing we would normally have ordered. I think the best we can say is that we have booked to go again next month! Highly recommended for the adventurous!!!
Good food, although a little expensive for what you got. Friendly staff. Appalling service - waited ages between courses and gave up ordering dessert.
