Food was very bland. Ordered a nice bottle of wine and ended up waited an hour and a half for our mains. We had finished the wine before we got our mains the whole experience was disappointing!
Lovely staff. Delicious food. Highly recommended.
Visited for lunch whilst on holiday, decided to have a light bite each whilst my daughter had off the children’s menu, I had the tofu Inari wraps, these were very nice however the sauce was quite spicy and did overpower the flavour of the dish a bit, my (omni) brother had the tofu gravalax, I’m not sure why as he doesn’t even like tofu and he says he didn’t really enjoy the meal (but did enjoy what he had of mine and the toddlers!). My 2 year old is a huge pasta lover and once she finally stopped jumping around decided on the linguine which she had with vegetarian bolognese, if was very tasty. She enjoyed it although picked out all the”meat” and fed it to mummy. It was so good I wish it was on the main adult menu so I could order it. Price is on the higher end but not I reasonable. Staff are all super friendly and accommodating even when a hyperactive toddler comes in and starts handing you bits of paper whilst eying up your laptop and telling you all about slides. Would visit again whilst in area.
High expectations, disappointed in the end. Great ale (blonde and dark old man) great olives; but these were not from the kitchen. We had the burger and aubergine ravioli. Burger was mediocre; fries were nice; but ravioli was a disaster drenched in tomato sauce dominating the dish. Not really a place I would recommend if you love authentic, good quality food.
The food was delicious and the waiter was very attentive and lovely. Went there for my birthday dinner, and really enjoyed the vibe of the place as well.
I had an excellent starter but found the main course to be over salted. I found the choice of food confusing....so many ingredients that I had never heard of before! Personally, I would prefer a simpler menu.....or, at least, some more straightforward options included so that there is a choice of both basic and 'fancy'. The service was excellent, however, and the waitress friendly and helpful without being patronising. The bench seats were quite uncomfortable with no lumbar support and the meals were fairly expensive. I did not enjoy the dining experience as much as I had hoped to, sadly.
In the 1980s, I knew Food for Friends as a stodgy veggie canteen for students; the transformation into today's FFF couldn't be more surprising.
It's actually become my favourite restaurant anywhere.
The food is delicious and innovative without being pretentious and I openly admit I go there to pinch ideas. Even my French, omnivorous partner was stunned as treat after treat arrived.
(The only thing French partner could find to criticise was huge picture windows which give onto the street; he said the place wouldn't last 5 minutes in the event of a zombie attack).
The place was packed, the waiters charming - precautions against the undead aside, Food for Friends is just perfect. We can't wait to come back.
We had absolutely fantastic afternoon. Food was amazing, cocktails awesome, service more than friendly and pleasant and I got a birthday treat in the end! Would recommend to everyone. Thank you food for Friends x
Delicious vegan food and attentive but not intrusive service. Wish it was nearer to where we live so we could go more often.
FFF is an excellent venue in the heart of Brighton catering for vegetarians, but the food is so good that even the meat lovers out there will have a great dining experience.
Absolutely loved this place, especially as a gluten-free vegetarian - wish I had somewhere similar near me!
Whenever I visit Brighton I book Food for Friends and have never been let down. The sharing platter was spectacular! The scotch eggs were amazing! My wife has now decided that the Mozart chocolate cocktail is officially her favourite ever drink! I love this place!
The food and service here is always fantastic. Exclusively delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Food was very good, had the mixed platter as a starter for 4 which was excellent
Weekend in Brighton again and back at FF having enjoyed Dinner there before. New menu and lovely options. the croquettes and tempura aubergines were delicious starters and the vegi burger lovely. Great friendly service as well and a pleasure to enjoy our night out there. Thank you.
We always eat at FFF when we visit Brighton and although the food was amazing the service this time was really poor. 45 minutes and we were brought our starter then another 40 minutes for our platter. The person waiting eventually told us the chef was unhappy wit the quality which is what caused the delay, which we understand but then forgot our sides. We have up in the end and left paying about without a pudding or tip which we never do.
Lovely food, great choice. Really welcoming staff. Will be visiting again.
Excellent service. Great choice and variety on the menu. Beautiful flavour combinations. Sitting in a booth meant we lost the overall ambience of the restaurant. Have been before and will definitely come again.
Lovely meal for a friends birthday. Great service and excellent wine.
Excellent food as always, never lets us down. Brilliant sunday roast.
The staff were friendly and warm and the food is delicious and beautifully presented.
Came here in the autumn and had a delicious meal. But very disappointing second time around. What’s happened? New chef? Over-stretching themselves? Started with a table mix up. The sharing platter was fine but then - after a whole hour’s wait - the main courses were either boring (burger and sweet potato salad) or virtually inedible (open ravioli which was a huge pile of aubergine with a dark, grainy sauce dumped on top). Puddings unremarkable and we felt rushed out by then because our main had taken so long to arrive. What a shame. Won’t be back
Another wonderful meal at FFF. Took some relatives who are vegan who thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Slight hiccup with our mains coming out a little late but was quickly rectified and gave us free puddings all round-can't say fairer than that. Didn't affect what was a lovely meal and evening with wonderful staff. Will be back again very soon.
The food is so tasty and varied, the staff are amazing and ambience spot on.
I am a meat eater ( my partner is veggie) and it’s our favourite in Brighton, for all the reasons above. Maddy, Rob and all the staff are great and menu superb ...
Thank you ❤️... love Donna & Steve xx
dont go unless you are a herbivore its ridiculous i need 50 characters to say rhis
I have been to Food for Friends a few times over the years and am sad to say I don’t think it’s as good as it used to be. I think the menu would benefit from including more options, rather than having been narrowed down to just 6. I had the ravioli and it was lukewarm rather than hot. The starters will always be the highlight but I think some re-focus on the mains wouldn’t go amiss. In the past I have remembered the vibe as very friendly and welcoming but our waiter wasn’t overally friendly, so this was a shame too. To be honest I wouldn’t jump to go back again any time soon.
Friendly staff, great cocktails, superb veggie and vegan food. We’ll be back.
Fabulous food, the meat-eater didn’t even miss the meat. Delicious open ravioli, and the veggie wellington was out of this world. Accompanying roast potatoes were also very tasty. We didn’t have dessert as we were full, but they brought a ‘Happy Birthday Plate’ for my friend, with homemade chocolate truffles for us to share. Service was friendly and the whole atmosphere vibrant. Can’t wait to go back.
Delicious food, excellent service and even brought out a lovely birthday dessert for my mum.
Menu changed significantly and the dishes were no where near as good as the many meals we've had at FFF in the past. We were really disappointed by what was on offer and won't be going back again unless the menu improves. We were so disappointed we didn't bother to stay for dessert. We have been to Food For Friends on many many occasions and been extremely happy with our experience. It's really sad that this is no longer the case.
The service from all staff I interacted with was amazing. The food was delicious, and presented quickly. The cocktails and general drinks were brilliant. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a date spot or a place to catch up with friends!
Always amazing, never disappoints! I work just along from the restaurant & often meet friends here after work. It’s a real treat and an absolute delight.
My daughter and I had a lovely evening (belated Mother's day celebration) with great, attentive service and delicious food. Would definitely come back again- only complaint was we didn't have window seats so we could people watch!!!!
It's been a long time since we last had lunch here, but we weren't disappointed. The food is well presented and really tasty. The menu is really varied and the portion sizes are large. We had a lovely meal and I would recommend this restaurant to others
This was my first time dining at FFF... The staff were extremely friendly and polite. The food was incredible. I had the roast dinner and would happily recommend FFF. Thank you
I booked a late table for myself and boyfriend, as we staying in the local area, celebrating our anniversary. The ambience was lovely and the service attentive. However, the menu is limited and not that impressive, considering we ate out at local pub in Ditchling for lunch (Sussex village) and their vegetarian options were also limited, we far more enjoyed the dishes served there. This was a surprise as Food for Friends has been serving vegetarian food for over 25 years.... the wine was good, but very overpriced. Overall our expectations fell a little flat.
This was s wedding present and almost a year after we got round to using our vouchers. We followed our friends recommendations to try out different dishes between us and they were all yummy, particularly the wraps and croquettes, would definitely come again. Good atmosphere and great service
Lovely food. Friendly and polite staff. Creative vegan menu.
The food was excellent and as a vegan the options were great however the service was unacceptable. We arrived at 7.45, had a main and dessert and weren’t served our dessert until 11pm. We waited a long time for each course and when we challenged the waiting staff and manager about this they offered no explanation and no compensation. A shame because the food is very good.
Had such a lovely evening meal, the staff were lovely- very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, couldn’t have asked for a better evening
