Food for Friends
The restaurant caters for people with special dietary needs, there are vegan and gluten-free options for many dishes on the menu, as well as freshly baked vegan and gluten-free breads, cakes and scones every day.
Really polite and professional service. Everything explained and food was great! Highly recommended.
We had two days in Brighton for Vegfest and Food for Friends was the only restaurant we ate at, and I'm so glad we did. We've been eating out less and less since becoming plant-based whole food, as it's very hard to produce the food we make at home. However, Food for Friends did not disappoint. My wife chose the mushroom stroganoff and was lost for words. She said the flavours were amazing and will be attempting to replicate the dish at home. It's the first time I've had a plant-based tagine and again the flavours were exceptional. Overall, this restaurant is a must to visit in Brighton whether you are plant-based or not. If you do eat meat and want to see what can be achieved without it, then you won't be disappointed.
None of one of selected veg main course available only vegan ( why?) & choice of beer not available. Waitress said they had no wifi password, which was untrue. Mia s overpriced ( burger £15)?
Wonderful dinner with friends. Intimate atmosphere and great food. Would definitely recommend this restaurant during your stay in Brighton.
Second time we have been to this lovely veggie restaurant. My partner had the gnocchi which we both felt was a bit overcooked. I had the beets risotto that was delicious. We both had lovely deserts. The waiting staff were lovely and the ambience was great.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and really friendly staff. The restaurant is comfortable without being stuffy and I would recommend this to anyone who is either a committed vegetarian or even a meat eater who wonders what its all about.
Fantastic food and really helpful and friendly staff. We had a young baby with us and they could not have been more accommodating.
Amazing food and service - we had the breads and sharing platter between two and it didn't disappoint - fresh, vegetarian food at its best, with the tastiest salads and sauces. The service and ambiance was faultless, and the entire meal was great value for money. Highly recommend.
Been many times but feel prices have risen and portion sizes and quality have gone down. We come from the isle of wight so its not a cheap exercise staying overnight too. We wont be back and its very sad
Had a really lovely evening celebrating my birthday with my mum - including free pud with a birthday message (thank you). Really tasty food, but any chance of a few more non mushroom-based meals for us veggies and vegans who don’t like mushrooms! Lovely grub what I did eat though! Thank you.
Always perfect. The food is outstanding and the service is friendly and efficient.
Always look forward to eating here and it never disappoints... Great food, location, atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff, lots of tasty vegan options, I all round love it!
Great. A truly delicious spread of food, great tofu chunks with chilli sauce, some lovely portobello mushrooms and excellent beetroot risotto
My main meal was good, but the mixed platter starters were fantastic.
Lovely friendly waitress, delicious crispy tofu and also bao buns. So good we went back the following night to eat them again!
A quality meal with excellent service. A rest treat!
Lovely food but the waiter was unable to clarify my questions about certain dishes. I feel the waiting staff should be able to do this to ensure that customers order correctly
This was a really lovely meal - the fire alarm went off for a few minutes but that was handled quickly and gracefully by the lovely red head (manager?!) so all fine..and anyway the food is so good we were not going anywhere!
I had the amazing halloumi salad, divine taste and decent sized potion so all good and my friend had the black bean burger and loved it too...we both had dessert and left stuffed but very happy!
We will of course be back :)
The food is excellent, original and tasty. My favourite vegetarian restaurant in Brighton. Nice location, pleasant interior. Friendly and helpful staff. Slightly expensive but worth the money. Dishes change often enough so a return visit won't necessarily be the same choices on the menu, a definite plus in my view. A good range of wine and beer; cocktails are also very good.
We were a little disappointed with the food - our red grape halloumi and orange salad had no orange at all. The fried marinated tofu nibble plate was frankly a little boring! The cocktails were good! Also the Loos were considerably less well checked/maintained than they should have been. However the service was friendly and helpful.
This was my second time.
First time I was very happy with the food although some rumbling noises were coming out from undernith the floor (like an electric generator). This time all good apart from the food, very disappointed and not considering to go back.
Ordered ‘spicy tagine’ which was tasteless and runny, very very bad cooking. Looks like the chef must have changed since my last visit. Shame. The staff very pleasant thought, probably trying to make up for ‘ the culinary delights’ ;)
I had a meal with a friend. There was nothing wrong with it just quite ordinary which was not what I expected. I have not been here for a while but used to eat here regularly 2 to 3 years ago and it was not as good as I remember it
We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday here very recently - she's a vegetarian and wanted to try it - and we had a lovely relaxed meal. The staff were fantastic giving friendly and efficient service with recommendations to try. The food was very flavoursome with excellent presentation on the plate. The ambience was just right! We will definitely return soon. A nice touch was presenting our daughter with a Happy Birthday plate of truffles with lit candle! Thank you so much for making our evening so enjoyable!
We booked with Food for Friends on recommendation. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. They answered any questions we had about their menu and we had a few!
Our food was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The dessert was a sight for sore eyes and tasted as good as it looked!
The atmosphere was relaxed and service was not rushed in the slightest.
All in all a lovely place to eat. Great food, fab staff and good value for money. Would recommend and would go again 👍🤤.
Delicious meal, friendly efficient staff! Thank you!
Exceptional vegetarian food and lovely, friendly staff. Very individual.
Lovely food, friendly staff, great evening! Will be going back again soon.
We had a lovely meal. The service was friendly but super efficient and the food was excellent. Thank you too for the birthday truffles!
Absolutely delicious food and interesting cocktails, lovely friendly service. Unfortunately we were at one of two tables in the place that feel very squished indeed - to the extent getting in/out was a bit of a mission. Shame as otherwise excellent
The salad was wilted and very dominated by one kind of leaf. The halloumi was cold and rubbery. I left most of it but was not offered a refund. The potatoes were very low quality in the chips. I will not be returning as this is the second time in a row the food and service quality had been dreadful.
Nice location, environment and staff. Food on the other hand was bland, simple and overpriced. I've been to numerous vegetarian restaurants and was left disappointed after my meal here.
The service was a bit slow taking the order initially and then bringing the bill at the end, but the kitchen delivered starters and mains in a timely fashion once the order had gone through. Food was exceptional - everyone in the group (3 of us) thoroughly enjoyed what we had orders, and some of each others too! Recommended. Will definitely go again.
The food wasn’t seasoned well - too salty or bland. The sharing plater didn’t have enough varaiation and the produce didn’t taste fresh. The decor was untidy and needed freshening up. The decor didn’t match the style of food.
This is a really nice vegetarian restaurant with good gluten free and vegan options. The food won't blow your socks off but is tasty and smartly presented. We had a leisurely Sunday afternoon lunch celebrating 2 birthdays and the staff brought out birthday plates of truffles at the end which was so thoughtful.
I'd definitely go back for reliable, vegan food in a very pleasant atmosphere.
Delicious vegetarian food. Kitchen made accommodations for allergies.
We had a really good time and the food was really good. I would highly recommend this restaurant
Vegetarian food at its very best. Always our first choice when visiting Brighton and never disappointed.
We've been here many times and it's usually great, but this time something was just not there for us. The food was good but not amazing and did not look nice when presented - no sophistication or refinement as has been the case in the past, just dollops of 'splodgy' food and some of our dishes arrived burnt. The service was lacklustre, it was noisy and crowded and hugely expensive. All together not a great experience which is a shame as it has been so much better on previous occasions.
Lovely restaurant, very central. Nice ambiance, friendly staff. Food was amazing ⭐️
The service was lovely but the food rather bland and not a very inspiring menu. Certainly NOT value for money. My partner and I used to come to Food for Friends in the 80's - regularly and enjoyed it for good tasty comfort food. It has changed its character - I appreciate that - competition is fierce but i could have cooked better food myself at home. If you are going to charge so much for a main course its got be more than bean burger and chips! I will not reccommend the restaurant and sadly will not return.
