Food for Friends
The restaurant caters for people with special dietary needs, there are vegan and gluten-free options for many dishes on the menu, as well as freshly baked vegan and gluten-free breads, cakes and scones every day.
Fantastic vegetarian food offering a lot of interesting and tasty flavour combinations. Recommend!!
Buena experiencia, bueno servicio con una carta de platos bastante amplía y interesante para mejor conocer la cocina vegetariana!
Great food and staff. A must visit if you're in Brighton
I asked my vegetarian friend to pick somewhere I could take her for her birthday and she chose here. I’ve been past many times but never been in. I enjoy all cuisines and enjoy eating meat free. I was certainly not disappointed! We had the sharing platter with sides of jackfruit spring rolls and triple cooked chips. The vegetarian scotch egg was my favourite part although every mouthful was divine. I can’t wait to go back, and my friends birthday slate for pudding was so kind of you. I also have a nut allergy and felt satisfied that staff listened to me about checking food ingredients. Some restaurants don’t make you feel ‘safe’ with an allergy but I felt like I was taken seriously. Thankyou.
Outstanding food and really appreciated the anniversary brownies - lovely touch!
We were looking forward to eating at Food for Friends we found the experience under whelming.
Service was great, the restaurant lacked ambience. The lighting was so bright it was like eating in a fast food chain.
The food was mixed. We found the flavours overpowering with smoky flavouring and salt which was a shame. We did really enjoy dessert but was overshadowed by the mains.
We spoke to friends after and they had said if they had known we were going they would have suggested booking somewhere else.
I am not a vegetarian but I do enjoy vegetarian food . The food was incredible try the jack fruit spring rolls omg amazing . As was the joy mouse and halluni salad . We did also have the scallops which were perfect
Had a completely wonderful lunch at Food for Friends with my mum when she came to visit me. She commented on how lovely the restaurant was and the staff.
The whole meal was delicious, but the desserts were particularly special.
Thank you for giving us such a lovely experience x
Perfect lunch inexpensive and very very tasty. So much so we went back the second day. Not vegan or vegetarian but the place And food was superb. Highly recommend for casual lunch. They where super accomadating to our 6 month old.
It was our first time going, it was a very pleasant place to sit and chat followed by some excellent food and service.
Delicious food, good wines and great friendly service. The Thai cauliflower small plate was out of this world!
We love Food for Friends, the food is always special, good quality, and well presented.
The staff are friendly and efficient.
It was my sisters birthday and the staff presented her with a chocolate orange fondant as a birthday treat, it’s those special touches that make food for friends a touch above the rest.
Lovely vegetarian food that’s interesting and well presented. It’s a little pricy but worth it.
Lovely food but lighting is too bright so the atmostphere is a bit strange. Also the food comes out really quickly, so felt rushed.
Great atmosphere, with lovely staff. The food was delicious, and it was a result as my child slept through our whole meal 😊
We had the sharing platter +the Thai cauliflower small plate. It was delicious and very filling. I'm still thinking about the runny scotch egg. Mmmm
Fabulous food, great flavour combinations and lots of choice. Staff are really friendly and its not overly expensive. Perfect place for dining and relaxing
Good food and cozy atmosphere. Nice variety of dishes to choose from and the portions were plentiful.
As always the food was excellent. Great restaurant. However a few things spoilt my experience. I felt rushed as our starter plates were nearly taken away when food was still in them and we were eating. We were offer the bill straight after our main meals without offering dessert or coffee. I overheard the barman say they had no peppermint tea, which is fair enough but then added they could have mint tea it is better for them. Excuse me can I not decide what I would like to drink. However the highlight of my evening was when the waiter said I had the same password for my bank card as his mother. He should not have been looking. It felt very unprofessional and I feel let the restaurant down
Lovely food and great selection. Good to offer some specials however based on seasonal availability.
The Butternut squash dish was really good. It’s a restaurant which always delivers.
Incredible food, extremely friendly staff and great atmosphere. The Thai cauliflower dish was insanely good!
Service was excellent, food very tasty and innovative, definitely will visit again
Although service was good the food was unexceptional and overpriced. Menus were tatty and stained with food. It was a disappointment
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday on New Year’s Eve; as it was a late booking we only managed to get a slot at 9.45 but it was worth the wait!
The restaurant had a buzzy atmosphere which reflected the area of Brighton that it is situated in.
We were greeted and brought to our table, then ordered drinks and food together. Our drinks arrived promptly.
We shared the falafel starter and then had a main each, I had the arancini and she had the gnocchi. All the food was incredibly fresh and a great deal of effort had been put into the balance of flavours on the plate, not to mention the dishes were all beautifully presented.
The size of the plates were decent, we were both full considering we only had a main and half a starter each. Being a meat eater, I didn’t at any point feel dissatisfied with the lack of meat on the plates!
A delicious, healthy and hearty meal at great value, perfect way to end 2019.
absolutely loved our visit to food for friends - would definitely recommend it! The food was delicious and portions were very generous, staff were super friendly and helpful. Great experience!
After booking a table a few weeks in advance for early evening (5.30) I was very disappointed that our 2pers table was squished in next to the deliveries door and tightly between other tables - considering it wasn’t very busy. When I asked to move I was told the table next to us was reserved but they did turn down the heater above us. On walking through the restaurant to the toilet there were plenty of available tables in the back room and even 2 walk-ins sat on a 4pers table - so was disappointed we weren’t allowed to move. Having said that our waitress was very friendly and helped with food recommendations and the food itself was delicious! We ordered 4-5 small plates and all of them were incredible. Just a shame the experience started off on the wrong foot with the table and it frustrated me the whole meal.
The choice was very limited which I was surprised at. The burger tasted very bland if eaten on its own so was essential to eat it as a burger in bun. I have tasted much nicer buns. The roasted tofu as a starter was very nice though. Chairs are cushioned and the coveting was marked with dirty stains.
Overall I would go again but think the menu needs improving and the decor upgrading.
Loved my lunch! Absolutely delicious, I will definitely be visiting the next time I’m in town. Beautiful fresh favours, great service. Thank you!
Food seemed less flavoursome than had experienced previously. Roast dinner was rather too salty for my taste. Having been visiting restaurant for over 30 years and miss the old menu and wholesomeness of food in the early days.
We arrived at the restaurant just before 4pm on Friday. We were met by a slightly older waitress, I was unsure if she was managing the restaurant at that time, and asked for a table and was told that they didn’t have any availability as they were fully booked, and that they would need all the tables in 30 minutes time. This seemed odd as the place was deserted and there was only 2 tables occupied at that time. So we walked out, and I checked on my phone to see the time for the next available table, and to our surprise there was availability, so I booked, and walked straight back into the restaurant. The waitress was very unhappy and spoke to her colleague, who said, yes they’ve just booked right now. We were shown to a nice table, and fortunately not served by that waitress. The other younger waitresses and waiter were lovely and friendly. I had the haloumi salad which was good, loads of cheese. The rest of my party had the arancini, which was not a great success, but they ate it. The banana sticky pudding was nice, as was the house white wine.
It was such a shame that the attitude of the initial waitress put a dampener on our visit. We have eaten at the restaurant in the past and never encountered such a problem.
Fabulous veggie food, service was excellent. Lighting was a bit bright but other than that would definitely recommend.
Excellent food and service. The staff were very welcoming and knowledgable. We three shared the sharing platter and it was perfect for us, the staff kindly gave us bread to soak up the lovely sauces etc. Would def recommend.
Also the window snow displays were beautiful
Although not vegetarian my partner is. She thoroughly enjoyed joyed both courses. I loved my starter but the Gnocchi I ordered, I thought was horrid. Personal taste though, nothing to do with the actual food. I wouldn't hesitate to return and try another option. Overall a lovely restaurant that I cannot fault in any way. Thank You
What a wonderful setting and THE most delicious food! I would highly recommend.
The Christmas window was beautiful and certainly got us in the festive mood. We enjoyed a wedding anniversary lunch in the best window seats in the house. My only criticism - the window seats were a bit cold. Otherwise, a lovely time was had by both of us.
Absolutely gorgeous and delectable food. Good service and good selection of food and wine available. Only one issue with ambience - lights were a little bright. Other than that, well worth a visit. Amazing food
Completely flawless. We've no complaints whatsoever.
Three simple sentences.
Thanks guys, you made our anniversary great!
The whole dining experience was a disappointing.
The food in particukar was too hot and spicy and not of the usual high standard.
Sadly there was a lack of atmosphere . I did not have to pay for my main as it was too highly seasoned. The management threw in a free cocktail however we skipped desert and coffees and probably won't return in the future. This is a real shame as previously we enjoyed the food and ambience which on this occasion was safly lacking
Very good service but didn’t feel the food was up to their normal standard. The burger was dry because it is plant based for vegans without a simple vegetarian option. A lot of the dishes came with a smoked flavour including the sauces, which is ok if this is what you like! My husband enjoyed his meal but my daughter and myself were extremely disappointed. When we arrived there were only a few tables occupied, one of which was extremely noisy which the staff did nothing to address. I would also recommend that they upgrade the cloakrooms.
