   Food a little underseasoned / bland except sweetcorn starter. Linguine and burgers good/ ok. Poor coffee but to be fair they didn’t charge us. Service pleasant. Ambience improved as restaurant filled up.

   Lovely vegetarian food made with care and attention to flavour, ingredients and presentation. However it seemed overpriced at £52 for basically a soup, a burger, some grilled veg and a small cider.

   Simple healthy food, great portion sizes, quality fresh ingredients. Simple, nothing fancy or wildly original. Yet relaxed and lovely waiters with personality. Great value too

   Popped in at 2:30 to book for a pre theatre dinner at 5:30, told with a false smile there was “nothing available at 5:30, but we can do something now or we might have a space in the unreserved/walk-in area later if you want to risk it but we are busy this evening” so we left thinking we might try that later. In the meantime, booked a table online at 5:30 no problem! When we arrived the restaurant was empty, perhaps 4 tables occupied. Either their booking system is broken, or the girl on reception just didn’t want to accommodate my mother and I. Luckily the food was mostly lovely but service was slow, insincere and very basic.

   The staff were welcoming and the service was very good . The only fault was that the burger I had was very bland and lacked seasoning and the firecracker sauce was just mayo with no fire .

   This has always been a favourite for meeting friends and colleagues for lunch and I haven't been for a couple of years. The place hasn't lost its touch! Super friendly and helpful staff and still a superb menu and delicious food!

    A great place. With helpful and friendly staff. Food was amazing simple and loads to choose from. I would recommend this place. In fact we ate there twice it was so good.

    Disappointed- we were really excited to visit food for friends, and the barman was super lovely and chatty when we first walked in but sadly it all went downhill from there. Our waiter was incredibly slow and forgetful, in fact one of the starters we ordered never materialised and we had to ask for ketchup twice - we honestly waited about 10 minutes for him to get this… there were only 4 tables in the restaurant, so it wasn’t busy either! The whole meal took so long we didn’t bother staying for pudding as we didn’t have time to wait. Food was average and expensive. All in all there are better places to eat in Brighton…

    My wife and I were here years ago and loved it. Just went yesterday and it was even better than we remembered. The menu is amazing; I wanted nearly everything on it. We settled on a few and we’re thrilled with every dish. Well done!

    Excellent food. I am not a vegetarian but this level of cuisine could convert me. The goats cheese linguine was mouth watering and the arancini was delicious.

    Been to Food for Friends before and it’s always a bit hit and miss. Great small plates - really tasty- but at £11 per plate very expensive. Desserts were very disappointing and service was slow and non existent. We were told we had a table for 2 hours but due to the slow service this was nearly exceeded. Not sure I’ll return again. £120 for 3 people, no alcohol and only small plate main meals. Hmmm.

    Lovely dishes, with a variety of textures and flavours - something often missing from vegetarian food. Our area of the restaurant emptied very quickly (before 9pm) which made it seem a little lacking in ambience.

    Lovely cocktails to start with but the food was disappointing. We have dined at Botaniq the sister restaurant of food fir friends and the food was amazing, sadly not the same a food for friends. Would probably not go for food again but recommend the cocktails. Expensive for average food

    The lighting walking in was like an operating theatre. Cold and uninviting The Halloumi fries were chewy and more like they were boiled than fried . Tasteless and not freshly made probably microwaved or re heated Water melon starter was weak. Cubes of watermelon in some random dressing . Pointless Burgers and fries were sad . Better in fast food outlet. Fries were over cooked so much that they were emptied of potato. Cucumber and relish weren’t fresh and just like it was squirted on top of small tasteless veggie burger . Rocket accompanied was limp and fed up looking . Vegetable side of asparagus was overcooked as was the broccoli. Any benefit of eating vegan food was certainly lost through the over cooking of everything that was meant to be hot and using poor and tired ingredients for the remainder . Service felt like we were doing them a favour eating the overpriced , overcooked and tasteless food. Incredibly expensive for some colourless and bland tasting vegetables , awful lighting and ambience and snooty service . Plus a glass smashed next to my foot by clumsy waitress staring at my girlfriend as opposed to the job in hand. Two glasses of Prosecco as a sorry was appreciated but thoughtless given that we were only two glasses in to a bottle but why would they know that as they never topped up our glasses that was left to me . Saving grace the corn ribs . That was it . Topped up our own glasses with an average bottle of Prosecco and toilet was unisex but with no visible warning . Uncomfortable for two elderly ladies walking in while I washed my hands. They too were as surprised as I was . Lights went up and down during the meal like there was a dispute going on over the ambience . Miserable morgue setting on their lighting panel won that particular battle. One to check out maybe on another day and try some of the other dishes and hopefully some different staff and maybe in a different restaurant on a different planet

    We had a wonderful family meal celebrating our daughter’s 21st at Food for Friends. Everything we ordered was perfect. The halloumi was amazing and the pineapple tarte tatin was one of the best desserts I have had in recent years.

    Excellent location. Very friendly staff and clientele. Food excellent, nice that the chef came to speak. Food beautifully presented. Service initially a little slow but great ambiance. A fun place to eat. Would thoroughly recommend and would rebook.

    We've been eating at FfF for 20+ years and this was the poorest meal we have had in that time. We had specifically recommended it to friends who shared our disappointment. Three of us had the burger and one the Ramen. Compared to vegetarian and vegan at other restaurants and pubs in Brighton, we all found the burger very basic and unimaginative. A large uninteresting bun with a lettuce leaf and tomato is what I'd expect from a veggie burger in Burger King not from FfF. And our friend found the Ramen very average too. The previous meal we had at FfF a few months ago was only average too. I feel like the standards have really dropped and are now way behind places like the Roundhill, Terre a Terre, etc.

    Fabulous Food for Friends. Please can we have more Gluten free options? Like GF Poppadoms with the Curry and why can’t the Patty Burger be made with Gluten free flour? There is absolutely no difference in flavour between Gluten and Gluten free flour. Also - using Sheep’s Cheese, like Manchego, Ewe Eatme, Ossau D’Arty in the cooking. We never received the French fries - but the meal was magnificent. Thank you.

    We love Food for Friends. We were with some friends that hadn’t eaten there before and they loved it too. Great interesting food and lovely staff. We had a table in the window, perfect for watching the world go by.
