The flavours in our shared platter had to be tasted to be believed! There was plenty of vegan choice and the staff were knowledgable, helpful and friendly. We returned for lunch the next day!
Have eaten at FfF many times over the years and it has never lost its way. Still a joy and the food is always high quality
Friendly, happy staff, well presented and nutritious food in very pleasant environment. What's not to like about Food for Friends?
The food was so incredible! I was really impressed with their vegan options, and for once I felt like I was winning with the options on the menu. They knew a lot about their menu, and was super attentive and lovely. Overall an awesome experience and I cannot wait to go back and try some of those puddings!
Had an absolutely wonderful evening. Food was amazing. Welcoming, accommodating and friendly service. Relaxing and comfortable table outside, as requested. Perfect - thank you!
Good food. Menu could do with being a little more extensive. Our food was good, though, but perhaps a little too much endive in the salad for our liking. The place could do with a lick of paint, it’s getting a bit scruffy I’m afraid.
Price is reasonable, but not cheap so I feel demands a little more than is currently delivered
We are regular visitors and enjoyed yet another wonderful meal. Service was a little slow due to kitchen issues, however the waiters were very accommodating
Fantastic vegetarian food, very tasty and imaginative use of ingredients. Lovely friendly waitress and great to see oval beers on offer too
We absolutely loved dining at Food for Friends. This was my very first time going to a vegetarian restaurant and the food was divine. The staff was incredibly polite and provided excellent service even though it was a busy Sunday evening. The value for money is also great - for 2 people: starters, mains, mocktails and dessert cost is about £70. We so much enjoyed it the first time we dined there that we went back a day later!
It was great
Lovely food, really good vegan options and incredible desserts!
Food is fairly overpriced for what it is but the service and ambience was very good
Very Lovely food nice wine
Reliably excellent, with frequent menu revamps and lots of vegan choices, my favourite restaurant for a treat.
I took a day trip down to Brighton by myself and booked Food for Friends because of the great reviews for vegetarian food. I was by myself so they sat me next to a window with a view across to some pubs which was great for people watching. The wait staff were really friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. Every dish I had was amazing and packed with flavour. They had a veggie Sunday roast with a vegan option but I went for the main menu and had the tofu rolls and then the arancini which was definitely the best arancini I've had eating out. The berry cashew cheesecake and espresso Martini at the end were to die for!
Great food, great service. High quality vegetarian and vegan cooking. Great kids' menu. Fantastic vegan roast, amazing smoothies. Gorgeous puddings. Highly recommended.
We went to Food for Friends on a recommendation all the way from Cambridge for our wedding anniversary. Booked on-line and arrived a little early, had a couple of cocktails which were excellent. Bit of a problem with our table not being ready due to the last diner taking to long however they gave us another table until he left and then moved us to the "Bay Window" (great views of the street scene). The menu has a good choice but not so large so you think everything is pre-prepared. Not being veggies we just chose something that sounded good and went for it. They were very happy for us to share the course between us and made extra plates and cutlery available when needed. The service was excellent, you could not have expected better. The food was extremely interesting and of the highest quality and certainly different from any thing we would normally have ordered. I think the best we can say is that we have booked to go again next month! Highly recommended for the adventurous!!!
Good food, although a little expensive for what you got. Friendly staff. Appalling service - waited ages between courses and gave up ordering dessert.
Delicious food. Especially the crispy tofu - yumm. Went back for thirds!
Very nice staff, the food was good
Amazing food, beautifully presented, friendly flexible service. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Gorgeous food and superb friendly staff. Would recommend and will definitely come again
The food was wonderful, really tasty for me though the choice was a bit limited for my friend who is gluten free and dairy free and vegan.
It was a busy Tuesday evening when we went and the service was unusually long.
Wish we had a restaurant everywhere. We had the roast dinner and it was amazing. Filling and the taste was unreal. Great service will definitely be going back. I’m
Not a vegetarian and it made me want to eat that way everyday.
Whenever we go to Brighton we always eat here. I am not a vegetarian, and although my wife is, I find the food stunning, great flavours. In my opinion the service and the ambience is second to none. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Delicious vegetarian food even for a carnivore as myself!
Great vegetarian and vegan food in smart casual surroundings with friendly and efficient service. We all loved it! Will definitely eat there again.
It was good, not as good as it previously had been and the open ravioli was a bit ‘basic’
What a super meal we had for my friends’ 50th birthday special meal out! The welcome by the staff was fab, and we were shown to a fabulous table right in the window where it was perfect for people watching!
The sparkling rose wine that we ordered was beautiful. Really pale in colour and very tasty. We had olives and a trio of dips to share as a starter, the presentation of the trio of dips was brilliant and the food taste lovely.
I ordered a portobello mushroom and potato gratin dish which was so delicious and very nicely presented. My friend had halloumi burger which looked scrummy!
Finally, we chose not to have dessert as we were very full up. A lovely surprise was then brought out for my friend to wish her happy birthday (see phot attached).
All in all a really lovely experience and I will happily return next time I’m in Brighton!
Amazing food. We went for my daughter's birthday and the staff sang to her and made her dessert special.
A great experience all round and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
I've wanted to eat at Food for Friends for years and finally booked a table on this trip to Brighton. The food was very disappointing - the crispy tofu was just this side of burned and the arancini was stodgy and bland (asparagus and poached egg were fine). My husband's halloumi, peach salad was better but nothing special. Desserts were nothing special either.
We won't be back.
The waitress was nice - friendly and efficient.
Excellent food and service as usual .
Like the new cocktail menu too
Food for Friends never disappoints. Great food, great service and probably my favourite restaurant in the whole of Brighton.
An evening meal to which we've looked forward was spoiled by incredibly slow service and by awful desserts, an inedible, rock-solid STP and an Eton Mess that was 95% cream, both returned and not paid for. Staff were duly apologetic, but there was no manager on the premises to deal with the lack of service, and, worse still, no chef available on Sundays to ensure the quality of the food. A discount on the bill and an offer of free coffee did not revive the experience.
The ambience of a window seat was spoiled by the presence outside of a barely-conscious vagrant, a problem in much of Brighton and obviously not down to Food for Friends in this case.
Overall, not an experience we'd care to repeat, certainly not on a Sunday.
Fantastic food and great options, service was quite slow but the food was worth the wait!
Starter quite bland,Sunday roast and summer berry eton mess fantastic.
Eating in the corridor between the two doors not the best place.
Our overall experience was ruined by chaotic and patronising waiting staff and having to sit in the sweltering sunshine by the windows while they prepared our tables, ten minutes after our booked slot.
The food was very good but not as one waiter asked me "How is your food, is it everything you ever dreamed and more besides?"
I go to Food for Friends because the food is delicious regardless of the season. The atmosphere is relaxed but lively at the same time. Desserts are to die for!
Having visited 20 years ago I was disappointed that the canteen was no longer in place and that the radical atmosphere had been sanitised into typical bougouis reastaurant. The name no longer fits?!
My starter was amazing - wow!? I had the croquettes - yum ... gourmet frankfurter flavoured potatoes... how did you do that?! I would have again!!!
The main was nice, but very ordinary... mushrooms with quinoa and goat cheese, disappointing. You get the texture of mushroom, a crunch from the quinoa and the sole flavour is goats cheese, I could imagine knocking it up in the oven myself, but wouldn’t as it isn’t great.
Excellent as always: lovely drinks, tastsy starters, beautiful main courses and delicious desserts!
