Service slightly slapdash. Food was average with my Red Snapper being very over cooked, although my guests steaks were supposedly good.
The restaurant needs an upgrade for the area it’s in.
Bit disappointing overall.
We were pleased to get a table last minute for an informal lunch. The servers were very friendly and attentive which was welcome as we were limited to 1 hour. I liked the booth seating and the open kitchen. I would recommend for a quick turnaround informal lunch.
Overpriced for the food I received but acceptable enough.
Called me the day before to cancel my booking for a clients Christmas outing. We had to postpone to Jan as all booked up in the area. Should have called us sooner! Very poor!!!
We booked a table for six to catch up with friends before Christmas. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. We were wedged into a small booth- one side of which we couldn’t get out of due to a diner at another table sitting there. Clearly they had crammed in more tables to take more bookings but everyone at our table had to get up to allow one person to get to the toilet and we all then had to move another diner to get through the very narrow gap to allow that person out. Additionally although the menu online looked good we were only given a very limited set menu. It was so loud we couldn’t hear anyone but our immediate neighbours speak. Wouldn’t recommend as it was a very disappointing experience.
Really disappointed. The service was really poor. We wanted time to talk over our choices and this seemed to cancel out any form of service from then on. The lack of attention to our order meant we didn’t have the right cutlery. The drinks came eventually and we never got offered any menus for desserts so didn’t bother. We expected much better in this area so will be going elsewhere in future. Not great for potential business meetings where you want to impress!! If you aren’t fussy about service the atmosphere was good.
Three of the menu items (and the healthiest menu items at that) we’re not available. Inattentive service. It felt like it was the waiter’s first day. Nobody else in the restaurant. Sticky table. Overall bad experience.
Service and wine was very good. Food was a below average for the cost in my opinion. Ribs were overcooked and dry. Would definitely go again but just for drinks.
Amazing atmosphere. Music is not to loud so you can catch up with your friends and hear what they say. Food was really nice to I would highly recommend the salmon.
Decent food, nice place. Well worth going to
CockTAILS were great especially their own.
Nice food and drink... nothing overly special but a good level of food and service
I've been to the Forge a number of times and when meeting friends this is my 'go-to' restaurant. On this occasion it did not reach the usual standards that I've come to expect.
1. They have changed the menu: they used to make these large, onion bhajis, a butternut squash risotto and a salmon dish all of which were gorgeous but are no longer on the menu. They've also taken a lovely Riesling off the wine menu.
2. This was the main gripe: the service was quite poor. We waited an age for our main course and dessert, we had to ask for them. Similarly we had to ask for the water to be replenished. It was unfortunate that the waiter did not understand some of our requests so had call over a colleague to help. By the time we had dessert the restaurant was not that busy so not sure what the hold-up was.
3. There's nowhere to hang your coats so our table looked like the cloakroom with five of us coated and booted.
I hope it was a one-off disappointment as I do like the restaurant.
Disappointing quality of food. Disappointing quality of food.
Poor service quality
Restaurant was well above my expectations, Food was amazing and so was venue. Only downfall was staff being hard to get hold of and food and drink taking a while to come to the table. Would recommend booking if going on a weekend due to parties often using the venue.
Not too pricey, nice food - loved the gammon and chips
The service took so long we didn’t have time to order food
We went on a Saturday night and they had so little food available (no ribs or chicken) we had to make a meal from the starters which were quite poor.
Great meal, steaks were spot on but no ribs on a Saturday night after I’d been salivating over the meat sharing platter!!!!!
Great service and great food
Incredibly loud background noise (not from customers, from the air con / extractor fans) made conversation difficult even while sitting at a small table. Not recommended for business lunch; but the food was good, served fast, polite service and good value.
I've visited this restaurant a few times and it does not disappoint. They have a new menu as of the end of Sept 2017; unfortunately they have taken off my beloved Butternut squash and spinach risotto :( However I had the fish special, Hake and it was delicious.
Very buzzy vibe going on at the bar; the food and the wines are definitely to my taste so always a winner for me.
Absolutely terrible and disappointing experience. Had booked a table at Forge using my taste card, only to have been told later by extremely rude staff that despite having mentioned it at the time of booking and it still being on the tastecard website and app, that it was no longer available. Worse than that, no apology offered at all for this oversight and instead we were bluntly told that they had mentioned this on social media so we should have been checking that instead. Well, I've checked their twitter page and they haven't!! And the restaurant hasn't even bothered to respond to my complaint, 4 days later. Absolutely unprofessional and totally ruined a special catch up. Extremely disappointed.
Average place full of city type. Pretty standard food with slow service. Average by all means but find for city drinks and a quite bite to eat.
The dining experience at Forge is ideal for meeting/catching up with friends. We met up for lunch. It is located quite close to Bank and there are several bars and pubs in the area. Food was good with attentive service.
Booked the restaurant no problem. Was happy got to the door and it was closed. Yet the times on the door stated it should have been open. I got a confirmation from the website and everything, but nothing telling me it was closed ! Terrible
Great decor, friendly and casual but with great good. Music is quite loud though so we ended up having to shout quite a bit.
Well set up. Great food and service. Perfect for that easy meal and drink after work with friends
Reasonable, but not as special as some of the reviews on here. Good backup lunch spot for city. Service ok but not great.
Really great and I hate that Open Table keeps asking me to write these since I always say the same thing since I go here so often!
Always delicious and amazing. I have been here more times than I can count. HUGE portions for the price!
We had informed the restaurant we required highchairs and a table with space for buggies however this was not passed on to the staff, so we arrived to find out the restaurant has no high chairs and put us on a booth table.
Despite this the burgers tasted great, but the wait staff were not very attentive, forgetting to bring us drinks we ordered till after the Meal, then charging us twice on the bill for the drinks and also leaving off the discount offer we had booked through open table.
It was very busy and my burger was served cold. Someone was supposed to change it but they never did so didn't get to eat it. Saying that the management was extremely apologetic and offered me a bottle of bubbly on my next visit. They even emailed me to confirm that. I did end up nicking some of my friends chicken which was delicious and the merlot was amazing so I won't hold it against them and am going back for my birthday lunch.
Good intentions but let down by constant industrial fan noise. Head was whirring for 30 minutes after leaving and nothing to do with my drinks. Food was like a 20 year old harvester and service rarely came as they were understaffed
First time at Forge; and picked as result of recommendations on Opentable.
Picked for early dinner with client and had a really good time.
Good menu options and food and service were very good; plus great atmosphere
Will use it again
Expect more of an evening venue than lunch when we went
Food ok but service rather lackadaisical
Good food, good service and nice selection of foods and drinks for their menu.
Nice to see an open kitchen where the food is being prepared.
Food is generously portioned and well presented. Quite rustic and wholesome.
Quite a nice place to dine in for lunch in the City as never to overcrowded and food is quick to serve. Great venue.
Very good food, service was a bit slow
Forge - Really nice mix of modern bur slightly rustic dining area. Good choice of menu stemming from a open fire type grilled meats to nice salads. Great selection of drinks, including well made cocktails and service always very pleasant. Portions are generous. Considering it's a Late Night London group restaurant, it always strikes me as being a litlle more 'higher quality' than other sister type eateries.
