Fornos of Spain
shrimp, scallops, octopus, calamari, mussels, peppers, sherry vinaigrette
sauce of your choice: garlic sauce, green sauce or spicy tomato sauce
fresh norwegian salmon
Service was really slow . A lot of waiting around for one waiter who was in charge of the whole dining room. Appetizers were really good but our main dishes was above average at best. Grilled octopus was the best from what we ordered. Garlic shrimp was overcooked .
Just wanted a night out
We have eaten here many times, but Fornos is not the same, very disappointed. Our dinner was lukewarm, the potatoes cold. Took forever to get our meal and it was not busy at all. I hope that this is just a blip, but so different than before. Took forever to get someone to get our bill. Prices have gone up, but this was expected with the pandemic I suppose.
My 1st time and I loved it! I flew in from Miami for a Bday celebration. Amazing cuisine!
Best overall service we've gotten in a long time. The bartender is on the money. Everyone's drinks and food prepared to perfection. Found this hidden gem prior to a Marc Anthony concert at Prudential. Only the pandemic kept us away. Cant wait for our next visit..
From waitstaff to food. Everything was perfect!
The food is outstanding! Quality and Selection. I have been going to Fornos of Spain for well over 20 years and the quality never disappoints!
Fornos is always great. Terrific food. Huge portions and impeccable, unobtrusive service.
A real treat whenever we go.
Leo was our main waiter, he was just excellent. All the other waiters that either brought food to the table or took away the dishes deserve praise too.
Great food and drinks!! Overall big menu selection and fantastic service!
I went for my birthday and had a great experience!! The food was amazing and the service was top notch! I had the tomahawk ribeye and loved it!! My guests had a stuffed salmon and a seafood paella!! It too was amazing, the flan was excellent!! Def recommend!! Thank you Fornos of Spain!!
Food and service are pretty good, this was my second visit and I saw more ppl there but there. Our server did a pretty good job he was very attentive.we had tapas along with Portuguese wine instead of regular meal. we wanted to try as many plates we could. overall is a good spot for some spanish/portuguese dishes
Some of the best Spanish rice I’ve ever had. The seafood in my paella was good but not great. Service was excellent
Felt like in the beginning we were being rushed but then it too them a long time to bring churros and check
My wife took me here for my birthday we have been here so many times and enjoyed it every time
My favorite restaurant on the Iron bound. Great appetizers the red piquiño peppers stuffed with cod fish my favorite.
This time I went for an old home cooking favorite, oxtail, rabo de res, delicious.
Wonderful place, right in the middle of Newark with the right feel of a busy Spanish hot spot. Very good paella and super efficient and friendly service. Big portions, you will have leftover. Big and diverse menu, it will hard to choose.
we went to Fornos of Spain as a late Mother’s Day gift for my boyfriend’s mother. the place must of been packed on actual Mother’s Day because it was overall a great experience.
our evening started off with a basket of garlic bread and dinner rolls with EVOO and olives. a balsamic-dressed house salad was also served to the table.
we ordered the fried calamar, drunk mussels, and the avocado crab (lackluster) to start. The star was definitely the calamar.
everyone’s entree came with mashed potatoes and green beans. I enjoyed the veal marsala and the stuffed salmon, while my boyfriend favored the chicken & shrimp francese. they also provided the table with family-style sides (homemade chips, garlic vegetables, and spanish rice- all tasty, especially the rice).
for dessert, we had vanilla creme brûlée, spanish churros, and the crowd favorite, pistachio tartfuto.
all in all, I enjoyed the experience from start to finish. the entrees were really good, but not very photogenic. I would suggest a new spin for the avocado crab.
I was super satisfied with the table extras, especially the garlic bread and spanish rice. lastly, I would suggest a dulce de leche or milk chocolate dipping sauce for the spanish churros (and more cinnamon sugar!!).
standouts: fried calamar ($22, signature appetizers)
veal marsala ($34, meat specialties)
ps. the drinks are stronnng — do what you will with this information.
Wonderful experience as always. I’d like to give a special thanks to my server. When we asked to have our order packed. The bus boy in Spanish said he needed to clean a table instead. Our waiter said and I quote “customers always come first”. The bus boy promptly came and packed our orders. My dad first started coming there at 26 and we have come MANY MANY times and have never had a poor experience. He is now 61 and we were grateful to have such a fabulous dinner
There just is no better way to describe this experience other than the following: close your eyes and listen to the beautiful Spanish music in the back ground, inhale the delectable aromas float in the air and you will be transported to anywhere in Spain. Truly the best Newark has to offer by leaps and bounds. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The octopus was as tender as can be and the suckling pig is to die for. The noble animals gave their lives to fill our bellies and put smiles on our faces. All in all, this is an institution that should not be overlooked. Bravo and Gracious !
Excellent food and service. One of my favorites! The olives!!
Restaurant could not accommodate the reservation and sat us at the bar. We were ignored for 20 min, even after asking to order drinks, and the staff was uninterested in helping us.
Good food per usual, but it was noisy. Atmosphere in the middle room is okay.
Excellent...5 plus stars. Wife and I will definitely reserve again. Thank you
Staff , food and ambiance was great! My friend was impressed.
Wonderful! Looking forward to next time.
It was comfortable, with social distance guide lines. Excellent food.
One of my favorite places, best Paella is the entire US, takes back to the flavors of the Spanish restaurants from my hometown, my parents also love this place.
We went for a lunch, food and service were excellent, especially the short rib and Chilean sea bass.
Service and food both outstanding
Everything was outstanding. Great food at a reasonable price.
Service was atrocious. Took over an hour just to receive an appetizer. Then another hour for dinner. My cappuccino was served luke warm. Extremely disappointing for a +$200 dinner. Never again. If you go, never order the stuffed sole, inside was filled with a paste... yuk!
The food was simply amazing. These resturants always provide quanity but the quality was certainly memorable at Fornos. The valet parking in this neigborhood made it stress free.
Easy to get, great service, great food and parking onsite. Definitely recommend this place!!
Delicious food, very attentive service! Highly recommend!
The staff was friendly and attentive, there's parking available for the restaurant which is SO important for that area. The food was Amazing and the drinks perfect. As a NYer it's hard finding great places in NJ that are comparable and check most of my boxes.
Disappointed with the steak. kinda tough
Marinara verde. Too soup
Fornos is always excellent. Unbelievably diverse menu, excellently prepared food and professional, attentive service. We are never disappointed when we dine at Fornos.
Never disappointed at Fornos- it is an experience! Great food, service is amazing- they know what you need before you do!
Great meal and wonderful service. Definitely recommend!! Sangria and food was delicious
