It was a great experience. My first time visiting London and tea time was something that I was really looking forward to. It was well worth it I would have given them a 5 rating in every but my waiter went on break and it took over a 1/2 hour for someone to check if I needed anything else, and it was only only after I got tired of waiting and flagged another waiter that was attending another table. I do given credit because someone else came right after & continue checking to inquire if everything was fine or I needed or wanted to try a different tea.

Lovely atmosphere. Relaxed yet all the ambience of the quintessential afternoon tea experience. Good service. Generous refills. We visited the end of the day but I think earlier we may have felt more rushed by the 1.5 hour time slot- although in this case we didn’t feel pressured to go once our time was up.

The food was good but not outstanding.
We didn't eat all and no one offered us the possibility to take the food at home. It is a shame.

The service there was just fantastic and they certainly have a good amount of tea selections. Less choices of cakes though. But in general great experience. Had fun time with my family and friends. Recommended.

I would like to thank the wonderful moment that the great staff team offered to us making the tea time a special moment. I will definetely repeat the experience when I come back to London. Thank you for your attention and hospitality. I hope that F&M maintain this magical atmosphere always.

Staff were all superb, attentive but not sycophantic, good tea recommendations. Sandwiches and scones excellent. Cakes not quite as good as expected. Expensive but love the boxes that you get to take any leftovers home in. Fabulous treat and will be back!

Afternoon tea was delicious and deceptively filling - I couldn't manage my slice of cake but it was then beautifully wrapped by the waitress for me to take home to enjoy later. I was quite surprised at how noisy the tea salon was, but it was a Saturday afternoon and very busy. Special diets are well catered for.

Beautiful venue and delightful ambiance. Sadly the scones broken to the touch and the cakes can be a bit hit and miss. The staff were lovely and the tea service is stunning, the teapot is just precious! So if your a foodie this may not be for you, but if you love an elegant tea and ambiance it’s definitely the spot for you!

Although the afternoon teas are expensive, they are 'bottomless' so you can eat as many sandwiches and cakes as you can!
The mini cakes and savouries were delicious but I found the finger sandwiches a little bit bland, I guess that's the market though.

The tea was great but the cake selection was not as good as I expected and the variation is quite limited. Very slow service and staff lack attentiveness. I asked one of the waiters to get me a slice of cake but he never came back, neither did my cake. I thought each waiter is assigned to each table but I'm not sure who was handling mine. At first there was a black lady who was super nice, then she said she finished her shift and handed over to another staff, who I never saw. My teapot was empty for quite some time, but nobody noticed that. There were only a few tables of guests at that time while most were empty, so I'm sure it's not because the staff was too busy to take good care of each table. The service is definitely not up to 5-star restaurant standard that I experienced in other countries. I am not sure if that is standard service of the hotel for everyone, or it is just discrimination over Asian people like me. I hope it's the first reason (although I'd feel bad for all customers), otherwise, I would be extremely disappointed to learn that discrimination exists in the center of London in such a big hotel.

Although the service was highly priced the food was lacking in flavour and variety. The cake carriage cakes were crumbly and dry and service took ages to get to us. Although the food was meant to be replenished frequently, the only thing replenished were the sandwiches and paying almost £60 to be offered cucumber and cheese sandwiches seemed stingy. We also had to wait over half an hour to even receive the tea to accompany the food, even then we were given only one small jug of milk for a table of people. Overall this was extremely overpriced considering the quality of food and service.

This is a real treat. The room is beautiful, the linen starched, the bone china exquisite and the atmosphere calm and pleasant.
The service was little slow but friendly and efficient and the food, though nothing out of the ordinary in terms of tea out was of outstanding quality and much enjoyed.
It is expensive for what it is but something to savour and enjoy. Go!!!

A friend an I visited Fortnum and Mason for Afternoon Tea and it really was the best one we’ve been to. The selection of sandwiches were great, very tasty and fresh.. We even asked for extra sandwiches which our waitress kindly replenished for us. The scones and selection of cakes were so clearly fresh and exquisitely presented. There is a great selection of teas and the champagne that accompanied our afternoon tea was amazing. The service we also received was amazing, Marianna was very friendly, professional and accommodating to our needs.

We had traditional Afternoon Tea which was delicious. Good choice of sandwiches which were frequently replenished on request. Fruit and plain scones with jam or lemon curd, plus cream, again, more available if desired, then an array of fancy cakes and more cakes if you wanted them. Choice of teas too. Service was excellent. Really enjoyed our experience

A bit disappointed since I requested a special birthday dessert during the reservation. While it was confirmed, it never arrived. Our waiter was not very attentive and had to be flagged down a few times to get their attention.

However, the demeanor of all the staff were quite friendly, which was quite a disconnect.

I’ve been here before and was looking forward to going back. But the food wasn’t as good (the tea was wonderful). And the service was first condescending, then we just felt ignored. We sat with dirty dishes in front of us for at least 15 minutes after we were done eating. It’s just not what you expect given the price and reputation.

Beautiful setting with a superb selection of teas. The food was excellent as expected. It was disappointing to have to wait to have our teas replenished and to have to flag down our server for more food since the trays sat empty for at least 10 minutes without anyone coming to inquire. Despite my disappointment with the service, the experience was good and I would recommend it to others.

Went for a birthday treat but poor service just ruined it.

I can’t complain about the quality of the food, it was great. Though diners at a table near us had to send a plate of cakes back as it had a hair in it. The service though was just poor. At a place that serves afternoon tea who let’s their guests run out of tea? We had to wait around 20 minutes one time just for some tea to arrive, even though the place wasn’t actually that busy. We also had to wait a long time to request extra cakes. There appears to be a lot of staff just doing nothing at times and not serving guests. Our server seemed to disappear for around 20 minutes at a time and was only working on our side of the room. Then when you get the bill they have the temerity to add a service charge of 12.5% for the pleasure! It’s not like it’s even cheap at a minimum of £52 per head. As we were feeling full at the end we asked for the included slice of cake from the trolley to be boxed up so we could take it home with us to enjoy. When we opened the boxes at home we had the meagerest slices of cake you’ve ever seen. Not particularly generous or value for money really.

The food is great but the service is terrible. Having been a few times each year for the last few years I think I’m done with Fortnum’s for afternoon tea as the experience has just got worse and worse.

From the moment we stepped from the lift the service was exceptional. My daughter had recently had a knee operation and needed to keep her leg elevated, within moments we were seated at a spacious table and provided with a padded stool. This was followed by perfect service from Carolina, who was attentive without being over the top, we didn’t have to ask for anything as she anticipated perfectly when we needed extra tea, sandwiches or cakes. We were so full at the end we couldn’t manage everything, so it was packaged up beautifully for us to take home.
This was the best afternoon tea I have had from every aspect - ease of booking, service, food and ambience - all how afternoon tea should be!

The service and enviroment was good
They arranged the window side for us to having tea time
And they will not urge you to make order
We have time to consider
As we don’t know we can order 1 tea set
So we have order 2 tea set
Each of tea set 52.5 pounds
Sandwiches quality was okay
Scone not hot enough , they provided their homemade jams and butter for you to put it on
But most disappointed is dessert
Too sweet and not good taste
We can finish all sandwishes but not dessert
My friend loves cake and dessert so much , but she still can’t ate half of these
But I have to recommend the different kinds of tea
And I suggest you choose the rare tea set, valuable

The afternoon tea was wonderful. Our table enjoyed a "Classic Afternoon Tea" and a "Savoury Tea", so had a chance to sample many wonderful bites. The sandwiches were lovely, especially the Coronation Chicken and the scones were good, if a little dry. The waiter was hit and miss, although he was quite pleasant. We had to try to find him a couple of times for more milk and water. I had to repeatedly ask for water and it took a long time for him to clue in that we were ready for the Cake Trolley. He overdid it when it was time for the bill, really buttering us up, saying that we were his favourite table, etc. I could have done without that. Overall, a lovely experience, though.
