Once seated, the experience was marvellous. Our waitress was very friendly and the Afternoon Tea and Savoury Afternoon Tea were both excellent choices, with many interesting flavours alongside the classic scones and sandwiches. The teas chosen were also brilliant. The option to restock your plates and take food home also made this worth the money. However, we did have to wait 45 minutes to get our table, which was pre-booked. We were asked to wait in a busy foyer with limited seating, alongside 30-40 other disgruntled guests. This did subtract from the Afternoon Tea experience at F&M, which was meant to be a treat for a special occasion. Perhaps going on a quiet weekday may be better.

Very busy when we arrived. Had to wait half an hour past our booking time, but were given a glass of champagne each as a sorry. Staff were very attentive and really lovely. The food was beautiful and you can eat as much as you want. They even gave us a box of cakes to take home. Really lovely experience.

I booked F&M for my daughters birthday . We arrived on time but the Lobby area was so full we could hardly get in. We eventually got a table 45 minutes after the time we booked for and that took a fair bit of firmness on my part. It spoiled the occasion and I was embarrassed.

This is the BEST afternoon tea in london. It is tasty, fresh and amazing! It’s the only place I go to for tea! I love the attention to detail and the service. Worth every penny!

Very disappointing! We waited 70 minutes over our reservation time, the service was very slow, the sandwiches were stale! We were served the wrong drinks twice. We waited 30 minutes for our pot of tea!

I took my son for afternoon tea for his 18th Birthday. He loves fine dining in posh restaurants. I was quite disappointed.
Bad points. We arrived 15 mins early to find they were running 20mins late. It was very busy but perhaps they should only take a certain amount of walk ins or booking only.
The food was nice although the first set of sandwiches the bread was a little dry, I suggest they may have been sat around for a while.
The dress code on the website was think elegant and no sports wear. Well there were ripped jeans, crop tops and many trainers.
Due to all of the above I think it is quite pricey. I have been to a very famous country club for a little less which I would recommend more.
Good points. The food was quite nice. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful although rushed off their feet.

Despite having a reservation we were left waiting in the foyer for half an hour. Hostesses refused to tell us how long we would be waiting, when pushed said "10 to 15 minutes". 30 minutes later we were lead to a table that had not been set yet. There was no attempt at an apology or explanation, the attitude was very much that we were difficult for not wanting to stand around and wait despite having a reservation and being on time for it.

The food was good, and the gluten free options were really fantastic, but the staff in the dining room seem overloaded with tables. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful, but rushed off her feet which meant we were left waiting for tea refills, forgotten cutlery, etc.

On the whole the atmosphere was just stressful and a bit frantic, not at all relaxing and enjoyable as you'd expect. Considering the pricing is in line with the luxury hotels (Ritz, Claridge's, Savoy) the experience, atmosphere and service is just not equivalent. Busy tourist tea room rather than an elegant, special-occasion experience.

Of all the afternoon tea available in London this is my favourite. The ambiance is lovely as expected but not too pretentious. Our waiter was very accommodating and came over numerous times to check everything was fine. The plates are refresh-able so you definitely don't leave hungry and we didn't even have to ask for more ourselves, our waiter asked us. The room is beautiful but at 1pm on a Saturday got very busy and quite loud at times. There was a piano player but due to the noise level it was quite difficult to hear from where we were sat. My only comments would be that we were sat underneath an air unit so we got a bit chilly. Furthermore, the service was very good up until the point that we were finished and wanted the bill. It got very difficult to get the waiters attention to pay (probably waiting 15 mins or so to grab him) and we also had to wait a long time to have our coats retrieved from the cloakroom. It felt a little like 'you've paid, we don't care about you anymore' which was a shame. It was also very busy though (we heard the concierge tell new customers that there was a 20 min or so wait for booked tables) so maybe this attributed to the wait for bill/coats. All in all though a LOVELY experience and I thoroughly recommend.

We had the high tea & although the beef wellington was delicious - quite small really for the price paid, and when compared to having sandwiches instead. Of course I understand that it is not meant to be a main course - but it really could have been a bit larger. Not sure I'd opt for High Tea again because of this. AMbience, service etc always good.

I take all my friends visiting from out of town here for their sweet and savoury afternoon tea. It's brilliant. And our server Mariana was amazing. I tried three different types of tea, which she had wonderful knowledge about. I hope she's my server next time.

Went there for my mum's birthday a year ago and wanted to go back since then. I brought my best friend to this place. She never had afternoon tea before and never been to London. So it was her very first time. She got to experience the full British package thanks to Fortnum and Mason and its friendly staff.

Another wonderful experience, a celebration with frinds - and so nice to be recognised as regular guests. Our server Anna was so friendly and helpful, we tried the gamut of options; classic, vegan, diabetic and savoury - all so special. Fortnums never fails to impress - especially with lovely staff - and the live pianist is also so nice. We will be back!

Unfortunately this didn’t meet our expectations, especially with so many people recommending this to us for afternoon tea. I can not fault the staff, they were great. But unfortunately we were expecting a experience with a difference. Instead we received sandwiches which had a slight crust to them and dry- the type where they had been left out too long, then one of our scones had a foreign object in it, and the little sweets were just far too sweet, but they probably just didn’t suit our savoury pallet.
The staff were very good and handled the scone issue very professionally. We weren’t complaining about it, just more making staff aware but they were fab.
Unfortunately we shall not be recommending afternoon tea at F&M to anyone soon.

Service was very poor. Our server took our order and disappeared until we finished the food. She did not come back and offer to refresh or refill anything. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes after telling her we were done and ready for the check before she came back with it. For the money you spend, service should be perfect.

We enjoyed a lovely relaxed afternoon tea in the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon with superb, attentive service. All of the food was extremely tasty, and perfectly adequate for our needs. The scones were a little dry but that didn't stop us eating them! Teapots were replenished several times and, all in all, we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon tea.

A bucketlist must. Went there with my mine year old niece and we had a lovely experience. I’m a bit disappointed about the lack of a awareness in regards to it being a birthday celebration, since it was stated in the reservation. Had expected more in that regard. Did ask for tap water and got bottled instead, ; but q minor thing. All in all a fabulous afternoon.

I really felt that the afternoon tea for a great institution like Fortnum & Mason would have been something I would remember and talk about for a long time. However I felt that the sandwiches were quite bland and the cakes were even more so. Certainly nothing to write home about. Lovely atmosphere but the food, which was what we came for, I felt could and should have been better.
