Visiting from Canada, brought my daughters for high tea, and we were not disappointed. Great service by Mariana, she went out of her way to make our experience the best. Thx!
It was an elegant dining room. The colors remind me of Tiffany’s. Our server was excellent, attentive, and polite. The food, however was just okay. I enjoyed the chicken sandwich, it had a nice amount of curry. But overall, I wasn’t impressed with the menu. I was expecting small bites with wow flavors. The small bites/sandwiches were pretty but what was in front of me didn’t match my expectations. Some of the flavors didn’t go together. So it was a bit disappointing considering the price.
A lovely setting and attentive service. Well worth the visit. There is a considerable difference in price to that quoted on the Open Table booking information to be prepared to pay more.
Best afternoon tea I have experienced. Setting was amazing, delicious food and excellent staff!
Such a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. Attention to detail second to none, staff so thoughtful and professional the setting peaceful and calm. From the booking system and confirming your booking to leaving with cake you haven’t eaten and your jam and lemon curd everybody in the chain works hard to make sure that your expectations are exceeded. No, it’s not cheap but you don’t begrudge a penny of it because you are made to feel a million dollars. Thankyou to everyone.
I'm very sad to say the afternoon tea was very disappointing. The sandwich bread was dry and so too was the scones. For £60pp I would expect freshly made sandwiches to order and fresh baked scones. It seems they keep them in the fridge from the morning so they tasted dry by the afternoon. I wouldn't go again and there are many more places in London that are far better. Such a shame as the ambience and piano playing was beautiful.
Perfect location with delicious food served by attentive staff. You can ask for more if you wish we were totally satisfied with the food presented.
Excellent from the moment we arrived for my wife’s 50th birthday afternoon tea. She loved it. Food was excellent, staff very attentive and though a little pricey, there was no limit on tea, sandwiches and cakes. They even gave us a doggy bag. Only one criticism: there was no need to do the little trick at the start where they offer you water and then charge you for it at the end. That’s the sort of thing which cheapens a place. That aside, all was very good indeed. We will book again.
I took my friend for afternoon tea as a treat for her 70th birthday. She loved every minute and we both thought the attention to detail made it very special. Thank you.
Great service, great food, wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this place for high tea.
Tea Salon is beautiful. Teas and food were all good. We are low maintenance and rarely complain about service but the service was definitely an issue. Waiter started off great and then they forgot about us. We had our food for about 1/2 hour before our tea. We had to track down waiters - like get up and go over and ask for help - for water and refills and the check. We spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get any assistance and even getting the bill was a process.
Not what it used to be. Service was pleasant but not at the professional, attentive level you expect at F&M. We had better/more interesting afternoon tea elsewhere in London this trip, for far less money. I had to ask for more tea, and the two of us had only one of each type of sweet on the top plate...it's quite awkward to split the tiny desserts and preserve their appeal.
Visited with my mum, brother and my 3 month old baby boy. The server was super distracted and didn’t bother with explaining how it works. It took ages to catch their attention for refills. No one mentioned that they serve cakes at the end. Had to ask 3 times for the bill, my mum had to leave with the baby as he started getting fussy with all the wait. Not worth the money spent.
With service charge afternoon tea comes to £67.50 per person
My one request was to have a ham sandwich without mustard
Our waitress went to talk to ‘chef’
And the result was that was impossible,,,,, too difficult
I find this unacceptable.
I usually enjoy tea at Fortnums, however I have one suggestion..... the patisserie after the scones are very sweet, and therefore I think it would be an idea to introduce a change on the cake trolley to have less rich cakes like lemon drizzle, Madeira or plain Victoria sponge..,, the one we were offered was covered in butter icing or something..... there was a very rich chocolate cake and a very heavy pineapple cake.....it’s my feeling that a little more balance should be introduced .
Either that or change the patisserie selection to less rich mini eclairs mini sponge fancies, small fresh fruit tarts.
A little imagination
Service was good
Once in a lifetime experience! It was what every little girl dreams tea will be like! The food was wonderful, large tea selection. The staff is very knowledgeable and caring! I would recommend this tea room to anyone! Such a special moment!
This was my first visit to the tea salon. It was lovely and the food was delicious. But 2 things 1) my original server seemed to have forgotten about me. I received my food but 45 minutes in I had to remind a new server in the area that I was still waiting for my tea. The first server was on the other side of the room and never returned to my table or passed on the information that I was to get my tea after I finished my prosecco. and 2) there is a lot of waste - which I really hate to see. I only used a small portion of the jams and clotted cream and the jars they brought were much too big for even 2 people to finish. If you don't take them home with you they go to waste. And as I was travelling on a plane the next day I was not permitted and couldn't risk taking open glass jars of preserves in my luggage. Would love to see them use smaller jars - they can always give more if people need it - but the amount of waste I saw was really bad.
I think for a price of 60 pounds per person you should get the best as well as fresh food. The scones were dry. The sandwiches were bland and the deserts were simple. All in all to expensive for what it was.
Service was non-existent - very disappointing.
Menu set price ik but extras costly. Too many sweet items but staff happy to box up to tske home! Disappointed no room for coats it seems.
A busy Sunday service - food impeccable and the room lovely, but you need more than 2 servers in the room. They were overrun - extra sandwiches offered and ordered but never arrived, 25min delay on tea. For £70 I expected more
A beautiful setting for afternoon tea. Incredible service.
Great venue and service. The food is always delicious!
It is really fantastic. We will come in next time
Incredibly expensive!! Slow service, tea took a long time to arrive. We were seated next to the toilets and kitchen. For 120BP for 2 people totally not worth it. Very loud and busy.
Always nice to visit a place with high standards. A good central meeting place.
very nice place and food is good
One of,if not , the best place to have an afternoon tea in London.
A wonderful time to celebrate a birthday. I did think the vegetarian options should have been a little bit cheaper.
It was fabulous.
An absolute treat. The service was impeccable, especially from such a young waiter who was just the right amount of attentive, very knowledgeable and chatty. The beef was Divine and patisserie selection delicious. It was all simply perfect.
Amazing experience, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough! A must-do when in London!
Terribly expensive for what it is.
There are way better high teas around London and the country for half the price.
A very gentle and welcoming experience at Fortnum and Masons. The staff were knowledgeable and courteous with just the right amount of service to make you feel important and valued.
It was our first time for high tea in London. Fortnum’s was recommended to us by several people. In true British institution form, it did not disappoint. The food was amazing as was the service. Definitely recommended.
It was very Nice!! I will visit it over 3 Months again!!
The food wasn't great as sandwiches were dry and hard, but service was impeccable and ambiance was great
Travel to London
Very serice orientate staff, the tea and food are fresh and delicious
We had a 4 year old but there were all ages and they were extremely family friendly. The woman who may have been a manager was the epitome of customer service, she rocked and soothed babies, interacted with children, and thanked all the guests. She introduced us to pianist and went above and beyond at every moment to make it a wonderful experience.
If you are looking for a traditional English high tea, Fortnum and Mason is the place to go. The ambiance is serene, the food and tea are absolutely scrumptious. I did however give the service two stars. Our waiter was quite rude to us. We asked for another pot of tea, gave us the menu and did not return for another 15 minutes. By then, we were ready to go and when we told him we wanted the bill instead of another pot, he became rude and rolled his eyes at us! I know I should have requested management but I didn’t not want to make too much of a fuss.
Overall I would return but would request another server.
It was unfortunate we had so few options and our wait staff was not accommodating, but rather felt judgemental. The ambiance was nice, but we felt rushed and not appreciated. Tea was delightful, and the champagne was good, however, the feeling of being up sold was very disinviting.
