We love fortnum and mason afternoon tea. Great location and great decor. Lovely fresh food and always updating with the seasons.
The service really let this experience down. We sat waiting for sandwiches for 15 minutes, while our champagne grew warm, until I went and reminded the waitress who seemed surprised I minded. We (and others around us) were constantly waiting and it was hard to get anyone to attend. The scones left that telltale "furry" feeling in your mouth from too much baking powder. However, sandwiches and cakes were very good. There were two children in the room who were making a racket, I'm so glad I was not sat next to them, and a group of 3 French ladies, one of whom felt it was appropriate to "FaceTime" a friend! I have had better afternoon teas and wouldn't return.
Fortnum never ceases to amaze me. The food is of superior quality, the service is second to none. I will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone.
Food was overall very good. Steak was supposed to be medium rare and was medium well. Desserts were excellent!!!
We had to wait over 20mins for a 4:30 booking which was disappointing. Food was good and service was very good.
We were seated promptly at our reservation time and soon greeted by our server. Though friendly, the server's English was hard to understand and she did not really give us enough time to look over the menu. She recommended choices and waited a bit impatiently for us to simply agree. Aside from that all was pleasant. Jubilee Room is nice but not particularly special. Food was rather standard for afternoon tea and we were encouraged to have refills. A bit pricey but overall a good time.
Special treat and service always friendly. Great place for overseas visitors to experience some Olde England charm.
Just an absolutely wonderful experience in every way. A definite must-do in London.
We each ordered a full team menu. It was delicious but way too much food for 2 people. We ended up taking desserts back to the hotel with us to eat later. We wondered if we could have split a meal.
We had reservations at 4pm and they dimmed they lights down around 4:30 so if you want better ambiance, book a later tea time.
The store was very large and packed so plan on lots of time before or after to look around. Wonderful displays and food options .
For an extra special treat for a special occasion there is no where better.
Excellent selection of exquisite little morsals.
Both gluten free and vegan options were as high a standard as the standard.
Service was exceptional!
Really lovely experience, would definitely recommend! We were seated in one of the rooms off the main seating area which we very much enjoyed as the main area seemed quite noisy whereas our experience was very pleasant and relaxing.
Attentive and friendly service and an abundance of food. Teas were also delicious and the vegan menu was inventive and tasty— not always the case!
A few issues were that we ordered sparkling water but were told they were ‘out’ (which seems odd as it was literally being sold in the store!) and that we all ordered the vegan menu but regular dairy milk was brought with our tea— seems like a bit of an oversight with the level of service being provided.
What a wonderful afternoon tea experience we had on Sunday 17th November. Words cannot say thank you enough for the awesome time we had. Our waiter was just the very best making us comfortable, welcome and made feel very special. Cannot praise enough. He is a treasure. The food was amazing, tasty and what a treat. The restaurant is so beautiful calming and relaxing. How lovely to take goody bag home with more cake. Then something vet very very special happened at end of afternoon tea that totally overwhelmed us with your kindness , melted our hearts. Words cannot ever say thank you enough for a happy time to treasure for ever xxx
Fantastic service and very nice atmosphere with comfortable furniture, setting on the table make you feel special. It is absolutely worth a visit even if it is a bit expensive for the content, but...
The service it's fantastic. It is very good the reservation system. You can book and you can go any time and there is the possibility to book not that much in advance. Great cakes and the scones are just perfect.
The best thing was that you can refill everything as much as you want until you explode. Sandwiches were great! BUT We were seated right at the bar where staff was moving cups and pots constantly making incredible amount of noise with the dishes. Instead of tap water as asked we got bottled and of course were charged for it. Scones were quite dry though cream and lemon curd saved the day. Overall very average experience for £70, it’s more of a tourist sightseeing rather than real English experience for locals.
This was a great break from afternoon shopping. We came early and were seated right away. I make reservations through open-table and everything went smoothly. Would have appreciated a selection of a couple of finger sandwiches rather than an extra scone. Would also have liked less sweets but everything that was served was very good and well-presented.
The setting and the food for our afternoon tea was fabulous. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. The crab and mayo in the egg cup was delightful
Was very good- would have expected slightly more diligent service, given the brand and cost.
Sadly the service was not good. Food was served but no information provided as to what food was served. Not given information on the cakes served. The gentleman that served the tea told us but unfortunately the teas ordered were not served and had to be asked for again. The plates were not changed even though the had left over sandwiches on them. The waitress was very nice but so busy she failed to return to the table. When we approved other staff we were told to go to our waitress who unfortunately was distracted and stressed. Apologising but failing to meet the level of service I had expected for an experience that was supposed to be special and was not cheap
Nice experience, but a couple of the sandwiches and scones were a little dry. Good service, nice tea and good atmosphere with the music.
The food was amazing and the ambience as we had expected but we felt the service was not as good as it should have been. We had a long wait for our tea to arrive, even to the point that we were apologised to. The cost was a lot for what we had, although if we’d wanted more we could have had it so if you are a large eater or hungry you won’t be leaving hungry. I’d forgotten I’d told them it was my mother in law’s birthday and they made her day by presenting her with a decorated plate and piece of cake and candle. It was a lovely experience but not something I’ll repeat.
We had a really lovely time at fortnum and Mason. There were a few hiccups with regards to waiting for our table and then a mess up with our food which resulted in one of our party waiting 20mins longer than the rest. However, our server Colin was so apologetic, very professional and couldn't be more helpful. We got some complimentary champagne and also a reduction on our bill which was unexpected but very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend this experience even with the issues we had.
Excellent as always. Looking forward to my next visit on Thursday
Afternoon tea at Fortnum & Masons was part of a spectacular day. From the welcome to goodbye the service, attention and atmosphere was wholly enjoyable. One was made to feel as those we were the only ones there. The attention was ever there BUT never intrusive. A thoroughly enjoyable experience not to have been missed. Would have no hesitation in recommending this to friends and family.
Overall a lovely experience but the service let it down a bit. For example we asked for a replenishment of sandwiches but they never arrived. Not quite as attentive as some of the other afternoon tea establishments but still a lovely couple of hours. The food was fabulous.
Great service, atmosphere, food and company! Really enjoyed the afternoon tea, will come again 😀
Absolutely fabulous could not have asked for anything more, lovely afternoon. All staff were so lovely and helpful, nothing was too much. Would definitely recommend and will return. Thank you for great memories.
Fantastic service, the atmosphere was lovely and I loved the decor . The coronation chicken sandwiches were the best I have tasted. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the teas too. I enjoyed everything about Fortnum and Masons . The waited even brought us birthday cake, as we were celebrating our special birthdays this year.
The afternoon tea was so lovely and the staff are very nice, approchable and knowledgable. Took my mum there and she felt very well looked after and let me tell you that I definitely hit the mark.
Will definitely go back and have more of their delicious food and the scones, oh my, I used to not like them so much but theirs, entire different ball games.
Although service was slow to start, the peak of the experience was the tea sommelier doing the tea tasting, which is an optional extra that you ought to book in advance, but we were lucky to get on the day. His knowledge was remarkable and fascinating, it was a chance to learn a vast amount about tea and sample some very distinctive and varying teas with plenty of aroma and taste. The food was delicious and fresh, and although the atmosphere was sometimes noisy, it was overall a fun and enjoyable experience.
However, you should change your crockery which is damaged. On our cups, color was removed. It’s a pity.
The selection of the sandwiches are not tasty and the sweets are not enticing. For the price of £60per person it wasn't a very good afternoon tea. Furthermore we were continuously inundated with a little fly hovering on the sweets. The service is very poor we had to seek the attention of the staff for more hot water as the pot of tea was not hot enough. Overall it wasn't a good experience. My guests we disappointed.
Amazing afternoon tea
Lovely afternoon tea, doesn’t look like much food but wow you’ll be stuffed by the end of it. Service was a little slow but staff were very pleasant. Very busy restaurant and quite noisy but a lovely experience.
Excellent afternoon tea as a special occasion
Offered additional tea/Sandwiches/Cakes
All excellent quality
It is however very busy and quite noisy
Staff are excellent and work very hard to ensure you have a good experience
It’s a little overpriced!
Always a pleasure to take a celebratory afternoon tea and the Jubilee Tea Salon.
My wife and I have had afternoon tea here on many occasions and have always found the food and choice of menus very good. The quality of food is probably the best we have had anywhere in London. The choice of menu is varied and would appeal to a number of tastes and requirements.
Sadly the service is not what you would expect for an establishment such as Fortnums. It is very hit and miss depending on the staff serving at the time of your visit. It is clear that the organisational skills are poor, lots of staff but no idea of providing an efficient service. Poor training must be blamed for these shortcomings and lack of care of customer satisfaction.
There is no point in complaining about these issues as Fortnums appears not to take these matters very seriously, that is obvious from the service provided in the other restaurants within the building, we have eaten in all of them and found the food very good and the service very poor.
If you choose to eat here you can be sure that the food will be very good but be prepared for the poor service and the need to repeatedly make requests for food and beverages that you have ordered.
Would we eat here again, yes. Would we bring guests with us, definitely not.
Great experience but expensive for amount of food!
I was looking forward to this day so much.l can't fault the reception desk ladies. Lovely welcome. We were taken to our seats. Then a young waitress came and gave us the menus. And ask if we wanted any water, gave reply. Ordered the food and the tea. When the tea came it wasn't very hot and when the food arrived. We found that the bread was a bit stale but didn't have the nerve to complain about it. Then l tried to get the tension for a waitress but l found it quiet hard as all the staff were all near 1 Station Point. When l did get noticed the waitress did come over. I had to ask for clean plates after eating the sandwiches as the coronation chicken marked the plant. I felt that l was wrong to ask. Also l did order more tea and when it came over it wasn't hot, just warm. As it was on the counter just sitting therefor a while.
But another waitress could of brought it over instead. When we started to eat the scones we found that we had only 1 spoon for 2 jams which we found odd. Surely there should of been 2 spoons. But couldn't get any eye contact with any waitresses again. But when l did look around l found that there was 4 staff round 1 customer, also l found that no one came over to ask if everything was OK. But round us did. I'm sorry to say that l felt very disappointed with the service and the sandwiches. I took my partner there to have a lovely time as he has never be before and he said that he wouldn't came again. He said that we had better service at Betty's in Harrogate then at Fortum&masons.
Lovely afternoon tea with my friend, tried both sweet and savory afternoon tea. Cream and jam are gorgeous, not to mention you can ask more if you want. The lemon coconut cake I took away is really delicious!!
