Unfortunately there was a long delay in being seated. The front of house staff were polite but not particularly welcoming, the wait staff were far more pleasant.

Staff neglected requests for refilling water for the tea. We experienced 3 times from 3 different staff. We wont expect such poor attitude can happen in such a beautiful classy restaurant

We had a very nice time having tea here. Our waitress was a little too laid back (maybe she was new, but it seemed like she didn’t care that much). I’m used to European service not being the same as American, but it still seemed lacking even for that. I didn’t catch her name though. Overall it was a very good experience but for the price, the service should be more helpful for obvious first-timers like we were. The other 3 people with me barely drink tea so they were pretty lost. The teacups and plates seemed a little worse for wear also, which is understandable with how busy this place is, but it was a little disappointing. The food and tea were amazing however! And our whole group thought everything tasted wonderfully. We each took a piece of cake home and that was a nice little extra.

I took my father to celebrate Fathers day and had the afternoon tea. We really enjoyed our visit. The food was wonderful and we were constantly being offered more. The staff were very attentive. I did find the whole restaurant very cold but the waiter kindly moved us to another table that wasn't so near the air conditioning.
We were allowed to leave taking some slices of cakes with us wrapped beautifully. Would thoroughly recommend a visit for afternoon tea.

I was really looking forward to going to F&M as it is considered one of THE places to have tea. I have had tea before in London but thought F&M would be more traditional.
The dining room and China are lovely. The tea itself was delicious, but unfortunately, the savory food was not. The tea sandwiches were tasteless. The sweets were very nice.
Very disappointing .

Things did not start well. F&M did not have our reservation from Open Table, but seated us anyway. Service started well, our waiter bounded over, explained that everything was refillable and that we could take home leftovers. Initial plates came very quickly, but we chomped through our finger sandwiches quickly, where you get 5 finger sandwiches each. The waiter came by and said he ordered us another plate, but we waited over 30 minutes and it was very difficult to catch his eye to find out what the delay was. Bearing in mind, reservations were only for 90 mins, we were an hour into our slot by the time we got that. We hadn’t touched cakes at all, wanting to stick to savouries.
I had the traditional afternoon blend tea and although plentiful, it just wasn’t hot. The cups aren’t huge, and you could get three cups out of a pot, the last was generally not steaming at all.
We did have a second plate of scones, most of which we took away. There were 5 small pieces of patisserie, but we only tasted a fraction.
By the time we wanted to pay our waiter had gone off shift and we had to wait a while to pay and leave.
The ambience is lovely, the China is beautiful. Food was delicious, and given the refills was very good value. I would go again but hope for better service!

As to afternoon tea's, this was above average. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, scones were light, finger desserts were very delectable for the the standard tea, but I would avoid the vegetarian version. At this price, the portions were a bit skimpy. They did offer an additional scone, but should have offered additional sandwiches as well. The selection of teas were very good. They gave us slices of cake as take home, an excellent way to make it a bit more memorable.

Best afternoon tea experience! Delicious food and amazing brewed teas. Also loved the shops below lots of gourmet selections and delicious sweets. Our waitress Aruseva was attentive and very helpful with or fist visit. She was wonderful and made the experience that much better. She was thoughtful enough to help substitute some of the selections for my mother who had allergies. Thank you Fortnum & Mason for a wonderful time!

Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. The sandwiches were very fresh and the scones were the perfect size and the little cakes were to 'die' for.

A very pleasant afternoon tea.

A wonderful experience with tea tasting and great service. Both the tea and food were fantastic and it was no trouble for the F&M team to produce a vegan version - very impressive.
Thank you.

Afternoon Tea at Fortnum &Mason exceeded our expectations. The setting was beautiful and authentic. The food was delicious and service excellent. ( we were given “seconds” on food). To top it off, we were treated to live piano music in the background! To top it off, the price was very reasonable. I recommend it highly.

The best part of afternoon tea was the tea and champagne which were delicious. The big letdowns were the the food and the service. The sandwiches were disappointing. Most sandwiches were made with a poppy seed bread which was woolly in texture and tasted processed. The smoked salmon sandwich initially came in a black bread so I thought great - rye bread which will have some flavour. Again it was woolly and tasted no different from the other breads. When we were brought a second plate of sandwiches the smoked salmon was in poppy seed bread. There was a lack of attention to detail as the fillings were uneven. My favourite filling was coronation chicken because it had some flavour. Sadly the cakes were also disappointing because of the blandness of the flavour. The choux had collapsed under the weight of the large blob of violet flavoured icing. While I have complained that most cakes lacked flavour this one was overpowered by the icing. As you bit in, the scones were hard on the surface then had a slightly dry, cakey texture inside which is not my idea of a good scone. The cream and jam were fine. I was especially disappointed by the battenberg cake. It was moist but I could not taste the jam and the marzipan needed more almond flavour. The tea room was very busy and the waiter distracted. Catching his eye was slow. We had to ask for our bill twice. Friends had recommended afternoon tea at Fortnum and Masons but I have to be honest and say I will not be recommending it after my experience.

Afternoon Tea is something I’ve always wanted to do. Took a day out of our Paris vacation and rode the train to London especially to go to tea at F&M. It was totally worth it. José was our server. Ask for him - he’s outstanding! I could not have asked for a better experience.

Fantastic location and décor with an extensive selection of teas. Spacious setting with comfortable seating. Vegetarian options available. Additional sandwiches available upon request. Some sandwiches poorly presented. Scones were particularly noteworthy and excellent. Tea slow to arrive initially but refills provided promptly. Sweets not to our liking but obviously very popular so presumably very good. Would recommend and go back but have had better food at other afternoon tea locations. Service was good, ambience excellent.

We attended for a special birthday celebration and everything was as expected. The service was second to none with constant attention to our needs and continuous refills with food, coffee and tea. A goody bag to take home what we couldn't eat.

Would highly recommend the experience.
