Daughters 7ths birthday treat
Excellent service, fabulous food and an absolute must if visiting London!
Best afternoon tea ever!
Truly appalling experience. The waitress paid us no attention and had to be flagged down. The food was meh. Way to expensive for what it is and doesn't live up to the portrayal of a luxury afternoon tea.
There are much better, cheaper places in London for good quality afternoon tea.
This was a wonderful way to remember our visit to London. Food was so delicious, exceptional service!! I would highly recommend a stop here for an afternoon tea if you are in the city!!
The service was wonderful and the food delicious. There was many things to choose from and refillable so you can have more of your favorites. Only wish I didn’t get full so quickly. The scones are excellent.
We enjoyed ourselves, but for the money, the service should be more attentive and the food should be fresher. We sat with empty teapots for forty minutes trying to get someone’s attention.
Very nice location. The place is beautiful and oh so British. This wasn't my first time having tea here and I was a little disappointed. As a single person I didn t feel that welcome anymore
Tea was as good as usual. Fantastic scones and sandwiches. Although I asked 3 times for tapped water and I m still waiting for it
I expected to be offered my cake before leaving but if hadn't asked for it I wouldn't have had it though it was included in the price. So...?A mistake?...I give it the benefit of the doubt.....this time
Overall a nice experience.
Complaint raised with customer service already. Staff treated our table differently to others - no refill of our tea occurred until the 3rd request.
I had a lovely experience and really appreciated that my friend and I could order different kinds of afternoon tea which had unlimited hot water and food which we could share. The atmosphere was elegant with a live pianist playing at the entrance.
Adam our server was very kind to accommodate to our last minute request - it was my mom’s birthday last week. Adam brought us a delicious cake and sang a song for her. The whole experience was unforgettable! Thank you, Adam and F&M for the delightful afternoon.
Impeccable service. Delicious food. The sandwiches are very tasty, especially the coronation chicken. The little cakes were exquisite and the lemon curd is to die for!
My family was forced to wait by front desk woman concierge approx 30 min even we have a reservation and on time.
Our waiter was good but a little careless.
We have learnet how to use the time in such an atmosphere.
Staffs were not that good although food and tea were good.
Lovely atmosphere and staff , Shame we had to wait 40 mins to receive any tea , which unfortunately came up not very hot , the food however was excellent.
A fun thing to do in London! Our family enjoyed the experience.
Hermosa experiencia de un típico afternoon tea! Excelente lugar!
We've been before so we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed. It's a truelly lovely experience, especially when it's on a special occasion. Great and lovely looking food, also lovely surrounding and first class service. We will certainly be back
Ray Westcott and family
Very long wait and felt we were forgotten by our server. Tea was lukewarm once we got it. We are regulars at F&M and this visit was disappointing.
The food was great and you get unlimited refill for your money. However the service was extremely slow and tables were not being served. Customers have to wait 15 mins the least to get a respond from a waiter. It’s such a shame for the brand to have such poor reputation on its managing style and manner.
It is iconic no doubt. It is pretty but didn’t blow me away. The small portioned treats were incredibly tasty but the tea was consistently cold. Otherwise, the water was lovely.
I didn’t like that we had to wait 40 minutes and ask 3 different people about getting tea. Other than that it was very nice. The sandwiches were good and the scones and cream were delicious
Excellent selection of menus and teas, even a savoury high tea, although we all decided the traditional was the best. I would highly recommend it and look forward to going again.
Our table had been given to somebody else as the person who greets you hadn't listened to the names properly - and laughed about her mistake rather than apologising. When we were seated and our order was taken we then waited 40 minutes and as we still had no tea and no food we asked the person who had seated us what was going on - nobody had come back to us in those 40 minutes to apologise for the delay. She said that they were very busy as they were serving 700 teas in a day - as that's the only thig on the menu, that's not really surprising. It was also Afternoon Tea Week so they should have expected to be full. The manager was then told and he came and apologised and said our tea and food would be coming out soon. We said that we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary that day and he said he would make sure it would still be special for us - he didn't fulfil this promise. In the end we waited nearly an hour which is totally unacceptable. We had ordered a sweet and a savoury afternoon tea - the savoury was delicious, the sweet was fine. We asked to have fresh pots of tea and were told we could only have hot water added to the leaves which were now over-stewed. My husband ordered a different tea so he got fresh, unfortunately they wouldn't give me fresh as I wanted the same tea again. The food was replenished but only because we called people over and asked for it to be replenished - our waitress, friendly as she was, was totally ineffectual in the job as waitress - she didn't return to the table to check anything until we were ready to leave and asked for the bill. The manager charged us for one tea rather than two. Fortnum and Mason are clearly struggling to find good staff and, not only are they under-staffed, but the staff they have got aren't good at their job. Whilst this position remains, they should close one side of the restaurant and only serve the amount of people that they have got good enough staff available to serve.
I have always recommended Fortnum and Masons as the best afternoon tea in town. But sadly our experience this time was so bad, I would never recommend again. We arrived at 16.05 for our 16.00 booking, reception was chaos. We waited until 16.45 to be seated.
In this time there were several tables empty but there appeared to be no staff to clear them so no one was being seated, not just us. When we did finally sit down we ordered our teas and a bottle of Champagne, the Champagne arrived at 17.00 but no sign of any food until 17.15. A full hour and 15 mins from when we should have been seated.
We then had to wait 30 mins for a refill of tea and sandwiches. Even though we would have liked more tea, it was clear that the ONE person making tea for the entire restaurant would not get to our order any time soon, we didn't bother.
We complained to our waitress that the service had been very bad, she said that 'because of this weather people have phoned in sick'. It was a typical English summer day, so this excuse made no sense.
It seemed they were not only horribly understaffed, there was no one running the show either. Very sad that this special place with lovely food has let its service standards drop so low.
Lovely environment with attentive waitress who couldn’t have done enough, especially marking the occasion of a birthday.
Food was beautiful and all could be replenished if needed.
Only small negative, we arrived ten minutes early for the reservation and ended up being seated ten minutes after the time we booked so ended up sitting for a while in a busy lobby/waiting area although a lovely man was playing the piano.
This is still a lovely experience - booking is a must - but it's not as special as it was. Service is slow and on occasion non-existent, tables left uncleared, and although the food is still good, some dishes seemed tired. Very crowded, with queues in the entrance. Love Fortnums but why do fit and able people crowd into the tiny lifts rather than walking up the stairs? People in wheelchairs (us on this occasion) were waiting up to 10 minutes.
The service was not as good as we expected, the different tea options were not explained to us. You got left alone most of the time. Not good value for money.
Wonderful experience. Not a single complaint. Beautiful rooms, beyond amazing food and first class service. Can recommend, will return.
It’s a wonderful place, we ordered a traditional set and a high tea set. The food is refillable and delicious. The lobster omelette from high tea set is amazing though a bit salty for me.
Server was friendly and helpful , sandwiches were great , cakes a bit too sweet though the Vic Sponge cake was very nice ! Would be nice if could have more than 1 tea selection .
we didn’t notice before that the service was actually 12.5%. the lemonade price was not declared from the beginning.
We were seated at 5pm, but were not served anything until 6pm. Some of the tea was served cold.
Although the setting on the face of it looks perfect I think too many tables are crammed in. A friend and I were placed at a table quite close to the cake trolley and there was a lot of tooing and froing going on in this location. We visited on a Saturday afternoon so expected it to be busy but we both thought that the service we received at our table was affected as a consequence of there being too many people packed in and we had to constantly ask for this and that. Having said that we enjoyed the food.
Booked for 4 people for 16:00. We arrived 5 minutes early and were told to take a seat, someone would take us through shortly. Taken through finally at 16.22. Clearly it was busy and they were fully booked but we could see tables that were empty and just hadn't been cleared, which was very frustrating. Once seated the tea was lovely.
Tea for 5 - We went to Fortnum & Mason based on a friend's recommendation. For years, we have always gone to High Tea across town. It was truly a wonderful experience to go to Fortnum and Mason! The fact that they bring you more food than you could ever possibly eat justifies the price for tea. Our waiter, Jose, was very engaging and friendly - and we were there on one of their busiest days! All in all, it was a wonderful celebration.
Not what I expected.
The service was extremely slow and very poor.
Sandwiches were dry but the cakes were nice
The service was disastrously poor, even forgot that we asked for the bill.
Use your Money for something other than afternoon tea here.
We had the Veggie afternoon tea. The food was fabulous - really inventive, I loved the pulled jackfruit sandwich, the tea was superb (we drank several pots!) and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful afternoon and will definitely be going again.
This was our second visit to Fortnum and Mason and our fist afternoon tea. Absolutely loved every minute and hope to return in the future.
I must admit having been to F&M previously and thoroughly enjoyed it we were disappointed this time, let me explain. Our server was good however she was stretched looking after too many tables and so not attentive enough. Moving to the food, the sandwiches were a little dry around the edges i.e. they must have been left out too long after making, they were tasty but an option on the type of bread used would have been nice i.e. not white bread please. The Scones appeared to be much smaller than last time and were also a little dry. We got our tea refreshed however rather than a fresh pot we just had hot water put onto the original leaves so when it was poured it was like slightly coloured water. The cake trolley was brought around at the end last time we did this, however this time we had to go and select a vastly reduced range of cakes and then the slices given out were also small. In essence it seemed to me as though corners were being cut so more profit is being retained. All in all not the great experience and therefore when you look at the cost of this it was poor value for money.
