Fortnum & Mason The Parlour
Duo of Scones
One Plain, One Fruit, Somerset Clotted Cream and Strawberry Preserve
My family and I had a wonderful time at the Parlour. The staff were fabulous and really made the day special for my 2 young children. Thank you.
Absolutely fabulous! And very accommodating to the fact we had a birthday in our group!
Amazing ice cream, high prices, but worth it for a one off.
Very friendly staff
Nice little cafe but I felt a bit underwhelmed. No better than starbucks etc.
Ice cream was good although felt the coffee was poor especially given the price you pay for it, went for a latte and to be honest I’ve had better in Costa...service was so poor that we could have literally left without paying, we didn’t, as after our ice cream was brought to the table we literally didn’t see any sign of our waiter for a good 40/45 minutes...
Really enjoyable lunch and a fantastic ice cream sundae. My only fault is that there is such a wonderful choice of ice cream I wanted them all! Will have to go back and try another flavour soon. Really pleasant and helpful staff and comfortable relaxed atmosphere. Thank you for a lovely day out.
My visit exceeded our expectations, which was to celebrate my Birthday. After we had been served our food, I then received a deliciously decorated birthday cake with a lit candle, I then had Happy Birthday sung to me. What a lovely and unexpected treat
Great service and lovely food. I would recommend the scones.
Lovely as usual. It’s expensive as you would expect but it’s Fortnums so well worth it!
Noisy but bearable.
Service always professional.
Build your own ice cream worth it compared to the Knickerbocker glory.
Tea should come with mini ice cream like the latte please.
A lovely treat and experience for myself and family whilst on holiday. Excellent value for money and very filling. Would definitely recommend and go again.
Had Parlour Tea which was priced less than an afternoon tea and it was delicious.
The service let the experience down, when the waitress was there she was very nice, however, the service was so slow & inattentive. It was disappointing & I expect better for the price we paid. It was a lovely place though & all the staff were very nice throughout
A fun place for adults and kids alike. Great process of ordering ice creams for kids who love it!
We went especially for the "Make your own Ice Cream Sundaes" and really enjoyed them - they were great. The service was very good. The only disappointment is the restaurant itself didn't seem special - it's a bit dingy and down at heel - which is odd as the shop itself is so smart.
There were ten of us and we had the set tea. A savoury (Welsh Rarebit but there’s a big choice) from the menu, followed by two scones with jam and cream and a pot of tea. All for £21.50. Excellent value, wonderful atmosphere and perfect service.
I think the ice cream presentation could be much more exciting and more theatre added seeing as it’s in such a special venue.
Birthday for 8 year old
Unbelievably I didn’t know that ordering a cup of English breakfast tea could be so complicated
Three times the tea went back for being cold or teapot dripping all over the table
The avocado on toast was very average- the egg on top was cold. It was really disappointing as I have such lovely memories of coming to Fortnums in the past. Way too pricey £54 fof two pieces Avocado toast with eggs and tea. Appalling
My daughter and I went for a birthday treat. The staff were brilliant and I even had a surprise slice of birthday cake with candles. It made my day!
I thought the choice of food was limited and didn't realise it was more ice-cream based items. That said the welsh rarebit was lovely but my companions Celeriac soup with apple was awful. We were sat at the window, which was nice, but just by the till and the waitresses kept hanging around there so felt it wasn't private as they were just stood there.
Not my sort of place. I should have gone to The Gallery on the Gd Fl. But the Welsh Rarebit was really lovely.
Overpriced and not that good. I had the hot chocolate, it was lukewarm and unimpressive. Staff were friendly but be warned there’s a compulsory 12.5% service charge.
Everytime I'm in London, I always go to Fortnum and Mason : The Parlour for some scones and a delicious tea! It is always delicious and it allows me to try a new tea, and I often end up buying it downstairs. Would 100% recommend
Such a fun setting to meet a friend for tea/breakfast/lunch! I could spend hours here, everything’s just so pretty!!
A delightful start to a much anticipated weekend on London. The staff could not have been more helpful and the food as delicious as ever!
Nice food but silly expensive. Love the place but would not eat there again
Very comfortable. Service very good. A little bit colder than we would have liked. Not our first visit, and not our last.
Delicious hot chocolate. Ice cream nice but not spectacular. Decor quite childish but it is an ice cream parlour I guess! Still, nice for a treat with kids or teens.
The Parlour is a great place to come for sundaes. The ice cream is amazing and so is the staff! Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a more expensive than average ice cream. Definitely worth it!
Yesterday was my birthday. For some reason the waitress asked if it was a birthday treat as we followed her to our table, so I said it was, in a way, as yesterday had been my birthday. I thought nothing more of it. I ordered a banana split sundae, which arrived in good time. A scoop of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream, Chantilly cream, cherries and almonds. Delicious. It was after the ice cream that the waiter brought a large slice of carrot cake, with a candle on top, and wished me a Happy Birthday. Given that I am now 58, I was very surprised at receiving this kindness.
Lovely service, delicious but pricey- quite noisy - but nice not to be rushed
We had a light lunch around 12.30. The parlour was busy, so the staff were quite stretched, but they were all very friendly and we were with friends so a modest wait was not a problem. Lovely food and we enjoyed the cornet attached to the coffee!!
Such fun to create your own ice cream sundaes! We had 5 children with us ranging in age from 6 to 19 and all enjoyed it. Service has definitely improved, not nearly as slow as on previous occasions.
I took my nieces for afternoon tea. It was fabulous, they got to create a sundae themselves and they loved the experience. Also we learnt a lot about the building. Would highly recommend
Was a great place to go for the fortnums experience. Recommend the shrimp burger 😘
Professional and friendly service. Food delivered promptly. Well presented and tasty. Also my request for a window table was granted. Excellent and will be returning.
I’m a big fan of Fortum’s. Have been for a long time - so coming to see you for a hotly anticipated half term treat was a big deal. We don’t live in London & it was the best part of three hours on a train...
The table was booked weeks in advance. We arrived a little early and were rudely turned away by a bolshy brunette. We came back 10 mins later, on time, but the table was still not ready for us.
The entrance is an absurdly narrow squeeze between a pillar and the till. The exit is even more ridiculous - a very tight squeeze between a 1/2 wall and the same pillar through an Exit you think is a joke, particularly with coats, bags and kids in tow. Honestly I doubt it meets basic Health & Safety measures & Fortnum’s needs to address it.
The first view from behind the counter is good - the counter display is magical. However, once you get past that, it’s a dull, uninspired, not very clean beige space with beige Formica tables. We had to wait for an age for service - eventually I got up from the table and went to seek it.
Having ordered, eventually the food came. It was atrocious. One plate of dull white ham sandwiches unadorned and boring. The bread was nasty and the ham was fatty. My Welsh Rarebit (a favourite at Fortnum’s for me -I’ve had it many times before) was rock hard and barely edible. My sister’s avocado/chilli on toast was better but hardly special & the toasted ham sandwiches were also OK. Nothing more. We waited another age for drinks and for the ice creams. The ice creams were sensational and nicely presented. Nothing else was.
With the exception of the nice lady I’d met before who I cornered when we’d been waiting an unacceptable amount of time with two smallish children (both under ten), the staff we encountered were dreadful. Sullen and disengaged, they were a masterclass in ‘unhelpful’ and ‘unwelcoming’. Not at all what you would expect (or what you usually get) at Fortnum’s.
An expensive treat & a HUGE disappointment.
Lovely surroundings and the sundaes are to die for - but service and hygiene were not great. Had to ask several times for scones that had been ordered and a pencil to fill in the ‘build your own sundae’ menu. Had to send back not one but two chipped and dirty teapots and cups. At over £100 for 3 sundaes, a pot of tea, a macha latte, 2 scones, a Welsh rarebit and 2 mini quiches, we expected better.
Very nice ! Very good service , we were celebrating a birthday and we got a birthday cake , the stuff was very nice ! Would definitely recommend!
