On arrived we were told that half of the children’s menu was unavailable & also the adult burgers (there isn’t an extensive menu). This was a 4.30pm family booking. The wine tasted terrible and the replacement bottle was never delivered by the staff. This was meant to be a special occasion but we were very disappointed
This was supposed to be a fathers day brunch. But it was disappointing. My son fish was overcooked. I had the avo toast with poached eggs. The avo- didn't have any chilli in it. So I asked for some hot sauce. There was only one piece of toast and it was cold. The eggs were perfect. My husband had the breakfast muffin - but the muffin was dry so he didn't eat it all. No one asked how the food was or whether we wanted anything else. The portions are too small for what they charge - as is the service!
One of the few places in Balham you can book a table for brunch, however, I wouldn’t go back. Disappointed that the portions don’t reflect the prices - paid £4 extra for salmon and got a slither when I could get a whole pack in a supermarket for that price. My friend asked for her meal without bread and they didn’ even bring her a plate, just three separate bowls of ingredients. We then had a pudding we didn’t order added to our bill and a 12.5% service charge that in my view was not well deserved. Overall, a very bog standard experience in a neighbourhood known for its brunch offer.
the staff were so very attentive and never pushy, plus were able to make recommendations for a fussy eater. will definitely go back.
We went for the bottomless brunch but the problem was that no one kept an eye on our drinks so we had to continually ask for another which is quite frustrating when it's meant to be 'bottomless'. The service was poor and our waiter was a bit aggro, they all looked really fed up and hungover. They also implied that you receive less alcohol in the bottomless bloody mary than you do if you order of the normal menu, which was weird! The ml of spirts used was different apparently.
Our food was quite cold too and they made a feature on the menu about the amazing quality of eggs they used and mine was colourless and tasteless. They must have run out of these 'amazing' eggs as one person in our group seemed to have some that looked much more appealing.
It's a shame really as the venue is nice and the menu sounds nice but it just doesn't deliver.
It had been a while since myself and my wife got out for dinner with just the two of us so we were really looking forward to our evening at the Foxlow., The food was good but my wife's steak was a little under done but the staff were great and this was quickly resolved and during the meal we were really well looked after. We were having a lovely time so much so we decided to have one more drink at the bar (still had time on the the babysitting clock) but when we approached the bar we were told they weren't surving they would have to go downstairs to the late bar. This was not what we were looking for as we just wanted to talk so I went to the bar downstairs and retrieved drinks and we sat up stairs, but we were then asked by two members of staff about last orders and watched as other tables were served from the bar we were told was closed. This took a bit of the shine off the evening but I won't let it detract from the outstanding service we received while seated in the restaurant.
average sort of place, didn't look at all like the website pictures. ordered a pinot grigio but they'd run out so ended up with a beer. pork was very salty, could be more garnishing with the meal
As always, great food and great service we love going back to foxlow
It seems to have become yet another brunch and burger joint. Disappointed.
I went for my birthday but it wasn't a big celebration so didn't tell any staff. They were however very nice and helpful. Bottomless brunch was fun and the drinks were kept full.
The place was nice. The service was below par. Sorry guys. You could have done much better there.
Good food as always. We did the brunch option which was nice and fresh.
Lovely brunch here on Sunday morning with my family! The service was brilliant - in particular a handsome Scottish waiter (who told us to describe him as that if we reviewed the place LOL). Great food and a buzzy / vibrant atmosphere - would definitely recommend.
We had a lovely meal at the Foxlow, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was fun. It was quite busy and the service was pretty slow but we weren’t in a hurry and had a really good time. The chicken burger was delicious!
A pleasant brunch with friends for my birthday but nothing special, we weren't wowed by the food or the service.
As a local and regular I cannot recommend this place enough. The staff are professional and friendly, the food is always well cooked and delicious and overall the ambience and experience is spot on every time!
Fantastic service. Very attentive, especially with our 2 year old. Tasty food and will be going back to try some more of the brunch options.
Small and simple but really tasty menu. The steak and burgers are great but the vegetarian options and salmon/squid starters are also really tasty.
Good points, pleasant atmosphere, good squid starter, decent seabream. almond cake was lovely
Bad points, Over enthusiastic server, put still water in our fizzy water on 3 occasions, removed food from the table while we were still eating, requested medium rare steak was very well done, this was replaced and a free side offered, new steak was ok but not great, burger was supposed to be 225g, it was not, burger bun was tough and almost inedible, prices are high for poor quality, meal felt very rushed
Really enjoyed the food and service here. Staff were great and even gave us the recipe for their amazing sticky toffee pudding. Food was overall good, although slightly under-spiced.
I’ve been to Foxlow a few times and this visit was a little disappointing. The steak wasn’t as good a quality as it normally is, it was tougher and had less flavour. Additionally, there have been some recent menu changes / removals which I don’t prefer. You can no longer get a hanger steak (my previous favourite cut), mashed potatoe has been removed from the menu and so has the garlic butter sauce.
Great food and service. Keen to put things right.
Attention to detail and personal touches made it an extra special evening.
Great food, good variety of vegetarian options for my friend, service was excellent, friendly and informative
Really enjoyed our meal here, they could do with a few more staff as they were a bit rushed of their feet and we were left with plates and lacking drinks at certain points, not to say the staff weren't good when you did have their attention, just a bit too busy for them to cope.
Food really good, steak was very good. Nice wine list, all round enjoyable and would return.
Delicious! Good value for the quality. Will definitely go back.
Easy location and friendly vibe. The sea bream and spicy cauliflower were tasty and satisfying.
A big group of friends celebrating an engagement and a birthday, all with very different taste in food and drink and yet really enjoyed everything and everyone left happy. The desserts were the only thing lacking but not too disappointing.
Recommend going to the Owl in the basement afterwards.
Unfortunately our order was messed up. The coffees we ordered were all cold and the food that arrived was painfully average. Overrated.
The staff were charming and the whole environment was very relaxed. The children's menu is a good deal and their food was a bit more exciting than the standard children's menus which was great. The fries were especially tasty and I recommend these! The only thing that let it down was that I felt the mains for the adults were quite greasy - even the salad was dripping in oil. Overall a great place though!
Excellent steak as always. BYOB on Tuesdays makes it outstanding value for the quality of ingredients, cooking and service.
Was recommended Foxlow for their Sunday roast dinner and we were delighted we went. Throw in the bottomless prosecco or bloody Mary’s for £18 extra and it was a great value Sunday lunch venue.
Super friendly staff, had a lovely table by the window, food was fab - overall a super place and highly recommended. 👍🏻
We have been regular customers at this restaurant for some time. Two reasons we really like this place 1. the tremendously pleasant and helpful staff and 2. It’s dog friendly meaning we can bring our dogs along for Sunday roasts.
However, the last visit saw us relegated to a table in the back right next to a back door leading to the trash area. Apparently, there had been complaints about letting dogs in. As much as I understand that you need to accommodate for your customers I don’t understand why it’s being done at the expense of regular visitors.
Yet another fantastic time at Foxlow Balham with great food and service. The big breakfast was delicious and bottomless prosecco a dream! Thanks to all the staff for making me feel so welcome.
Nice ambience and atmosphere. We ordered the beef burger and chicken burger. The fries were cold and we asked them to be replaced. The replacements were clearly the same fries which had been heated up again the fryer and were over cooked, too crispy and full of grease - not potato left! We told the waitress who agreed it shouldn't have happened and she offered us dessert on the house was fair and a nice gesture.
We had two after dinner cocktails: espresso martini (average) and a negroni which was nice but only filled half a tumbler which was full of ice.
Would go again but for a more casual dinning rather than date night.
Really friendly, attentive service.
Delicious chicken burger.
Would definitely visit again and recommend.
Great food, warm friendly service from a team who are knowledgeable and enjoy their work.
Foxlow provided a fun atmosphere although there were not many customers as I visited on a Friday morning. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We did bottomless brunch and definitely got our money’s worth! Would 100% go back.
Disappointed in this place because I heard it’s owned by hawksmoor. The roast had two pieces of beef. Both of which were chewy and fatty. Service was slow and felt disingenuous.
Service was very slow on this occasion, we skipped dessert because it took half an hour to get someone’s attention so we had to pay the bill instead. No one came to offer us more drinks or the dessert menu.
The table next to us complained about not being acknowledged.
Great spot for brunch, we both had the chicken and waffles and would definitely go back!
