Lovely birthday brunch with friends. Thank you for the birthday pudding and candles!

Always love a trip to Foxlow but food disappointing. Sea Bream really really boney and overdone and mac and cheese also overdone.
Cocktails and steak and burger that our friends had were great

We had bottomless brunch with unlimited bloody Mary’s. The bloody Mary’s were very good, with just the right amount of spice.

Food was good but didn’t really ‘wow’ us - I had poached eggs and smoked salmon for £10 which only had one slice of toast - I think two would have given me a more filling meal without costing the restaurant too much. Seems fairly priced all in all though. Would recommend.

This has to be the best place in Balham to drink and eat. And there are lots of other places don’t get me wrong but they are the full package and the staff are just the best. Love it

Came for a birthday meal. Was offered the Sirloin as it was a special at nearly 600g for £42 which I thought was fine, however receiving the actual steak there was hardly 300g of meat, not near enough to share with 2 people. This was not explained properly that you end up paying £20 for a bone! Apart from that service was good.

Went for brunch but we were a tad disappointed with both the coffee and food. The coffees were cold, although they did bring us a few slightly warmer replacements when we complained. The brunch menu was very limited, so we went for the fried chicken with gravy, and a muffin with sausage and egg.

The fried chicken choice was not great, with even the gravy being quite flavourless. The muffin was not much better.

Unfortunately we will not be coming back again, especially with so much choice in "cafe alley" just around the corner.

The food at Foxlow is excellent - I had the fried chicken waffles from the brunch menu and it was incredible!
The service was fine but could have been better. We ordered the bottomless coffee option and had to ask for coffee refills. We were also offered a small table in a very busy part of the restaurant and had to ask to sit elsewhere. We were able to but didn't get the impression the staff were happy for us to move.
That said, we will definitely go back!

Having been to the St. John restaurant a number of times, my expectations were very high. The Balham restaurant didn't quite live up to it's big brother, but the layout and finish was nice, although we found that the 2-seater tables were uncomfortably close to each other (our neighbours were looking at and listening to us whilst we were talking - in between them being on their phones. A sad reflection of current society..) and no-one offered to take our coat and bags to a cloak room. The service was efficient, but not spectacular. I thought the staff lacked charm, but were not in any way offensive. Overall though, I'd definitely go again, and it's good to have the brand so close to home - just don't getting silly ideas and try and do a Gaucho.....Hasn't worked out too well for them.

I hate to give a bad one but the service is useless! Nice enough people but dear lord. Coffees and drinks took 20 minutes. The scrambled eggs were dry and looked like my 7 year old made them. I didn’t eat them. Go to brick wood and order the scrambled eggs on sourdough to see how it should be done. Their food is fantastic! I want to love foxlow, the fried chicken waffle is usually very good but service is so slow and to not be able to scramble eggs for breakfast/brunch food seems weird. I don’t mind paying if the food is good. It could just be so so much better.

I normally have a good time at Foxlow , but when we arrived I apodised for being 20 mins early . I wasn't welcomed at all and he gave me a blank expression and told me to come back in half an hour . why couldn't we have a drink at the bar first !! Anyway we came back and another Chap said sure please wait at the bar . when we went to the bar the same Rude man ( not British ) said hello Your back and made us wait 10 mins for 2 Spritzers . Our table waiter was good and friendly but we couldn't order off the main menu as we were 8 mins early ! so we ordered the breakfast stuff …. Meanwhile the rude waiter ( E.Europeaian ) went into the Kitchen and all hell broke out with one of the Chefs . I saw it all and the Waiter looked smug with himself as the poor Chef was told off .

Lets hope next time will be better as I really like to meet my friends there …. regards Robert

Fairly terrible brunch. £15 for an average egg sandwich on a plain muffin. Another £15 for avocado on toast. And They have three Items on their brunch menu and were sold out of one. Perhaps the bottomless brunch is the appeal but if you’re actually interested in the food, skip this place.

We went for my sister's birthday lunch and it was a pretty disappointing experience.
The host when we arrived was lovely, very friendly and welcoming and showed us to a lovely table.
That was pretty much the end of the positive.
Our waitress was terrible- it took us ages to be served and forever for our drinks to arrive.
We chose a cocktail each which I expected to be good as they have a cocktail bar downstairs. They were hugely disappointing- tiny and not very nice. No effort on the presentation at all and at £8 and £9, I expected better.
The food was OK... a bit try hard and unfortunately they had run out of my first choice dish.
The setting itself was nice and there was a nice vibe, but I definitely won't be going back or recommending that anyone else bother either.

We are both vegetarians so expected a limited choice from a steak restaurant - however we were pleasantly surprised with the number of options. The food itself was delicious - we had the roasted curry cauliflower (one of the best veggie meals I’ve ever had) and the sweet potato dumplings (really tasty, texture perfect and felt very light and fresh). The carrot hummous was soooo good. Will definitely be coming back. Only criticism would be the amount of time it took to place our order and get the waiters attention - other than that service was on point.

I usually love Foxlow and having never been for brunch, decided to give it a go. However, I was really disappointed. I ordered steak and eggs and was really looking forward to it, but the steak was terribly cooked - it was dry, burnt and certainly not MR. It looked like it had been sitting around for a while. I also discovered that the bread my eggs came with was completely charred on the bottom - they’d just put that side down and buttered the other side, hoping I wouldn’t notice. The portion size of the avo and toast that my boyfriend got was also pretty poor, especially when compared to neighbouring brunch spots. The drinks were also totally filled with ice and a couple of sips almost drained the glass! Having said all of this, the staff handled the complaints well and were really apologetic. Not the kind of experience I’ve had previously at Foxlow, which I’ve always thought did the best steaks in the neighbourhood. Not sure I’ll be going back for a while.

Brilliant bottomless prosecco brunch with friends to celebrate a birthday. Excellent service by Ronnie, who was attentive to our needs without being overbearing and made sure we had a great time. We spent several hours at the table, yet we never felt rushed or hurried, something we really appreciated. Can’t wait to come back.

On arrived we were told that half of the children’s menu was unavailable & also the adult burgers (there isn’t an extensive menu). This was a 4.30pm family booking. The wine tasted terrible and the replacement bottle was never delivered by the staff. This was meant to be a special occasion but we were very disappointed

This was supposed to be a fathers day brunch. But it was disappointing. My son fish was overcooked. I had the avo toast with poached eggs. The avo- didn't have any chilli in it. So I asked for some hot sauce. There was only one piece of toast and it was cold. The eggs were perfect. My husband had the breakfast muffin - but the muffin was dry so he didn't eat it all. No one asked how the food was or whether we wanted anything else. The portions are too small for what they charge - as is the service!

One of the few places in Balham you can book a table for brunch, however, I wouldn’t go back. Disappointed that the portions don’t reflect the prices - paid £4 extra for salmon and got a slither when I could get a whole pack in a supermarket for that price. My friend asked for her meal without bread and they didn’ even bring her a plate, just three separate bowls of ingredients. We then had a pudding we didn’t order added to our bill and a 12.5% service charge that in my view was not well deserved. Overall, a very bog standard experience in a neighbourhood known for its brunch offer.

We went for the bottomless brunch but the problem was that no one kept an eye on our drinks so we had to continually ask for another which is quite frustrating when it's meant to be 'bottomless'. The service was poor and our waiter was a bit aggro, they all looked really fed up and hungover. They also implied that you receive less alcohol in the bottomless bloody mary than you do if you order of the normal menu, which was weird! The ml of spirts used was different apparently.

Our food was quite cold too and they made a feature on the menu about the amazing quality of eggs they used and mine was colourless and tasteless. They must have run out of these 'amazing' eggs as one person in our group seemed to have some that looked much more appealing.

It's a shame really as the venue is nice and the menu sounds nice but it just doesn't deliver.

It had been a while since myself and my wife got out for dinner with just the two of us so we were really looking forward to our evening at the Foxlow., The food was good but my wife's steak was a little under done but the staff were great and this was quickly resolved and during the meal we were really well looked after. We were having a lovely time so much so we decided to have one more drink at the bar (still had time on the the babysitting clock) but when we approached the bar we were told they weren't surving they would have to go downstairs to the late bar. This was not what we were looking for as we just wanted to talk so I went to the bar downstairs and retrieved drinks and we sat up stairs, but we were then asked by two members of staff about last orders and watched as other tables were served from the bar we were told was closed. This took a bit of the shine off the evening but I won't let it detract from the outstanding service we received while seated in the restaurant.
