Foxlow Balham on Bedford Hill joined the growing family of neighbourhood restaurants in 2015. Located on a corner site with glass doors opening onto the street with outdoor seating, Foxlow Balham also has an intimate, speakeasy-style 35-cover basement bar, The Owl. The menu revolves around a real charcoal grill and the best produce the team, including the Hawksmoor Group Executive Chef Richard Turner and Foxlow Development Chef Lewis Hannaford, have been able to hunt down, focussing on the company’s belief in quality, sustainability and animal welfare.

A good local fail safe option. Good food, although not the most adventurous menu. Nice interior. Not the cheapest.

We went for bottomless brunch, and The Foxlow didn't disappoint. Service was good, prosecco kept coming, and the food was great.

This was a more casual Foxlow to others I have been to but was very nice. We had a great booth area which I asked for when booking and the food was very good. The service was exceptional with really really friendly happy staff which was very nice. There were a few Christmas parties so by the end the service was slower as they were busy but a lovely place to meet friends and not be rushed. Would definitely recommend.

Decent food (although small portions) and a well fit out restaurant. Seemed like the staff and ambience weren't quite there, but assuming this is because it's still quite new. I expect in a few months once it's settled in, will be a great spot

Foxlow has a nice atmosphere to it, had a brunch with a friend on Sunday. My sourdough bread with salmon and egg was average, had better. But don’t recommend getting bottomless coffee option. Their coffee was so weak, it was just brown water, no wonder it’s no limit on it, tap water is free after all. Better get yourself one descent cup.
It was a busy time in a restaurant, so I have to say, waiters were doing great job with all the pressure, quick service.

Was excited to eat here. They made it seem super popular by confirming booking etc night before. All good i thought they must have such demand! We arrived and they were accommodating by putting us at a spacious table upstairs with space for our buggy which we were grateful for. The area itself was not attractive to sit in. The service in general was poor especially at the end when there was a query on the bill including a double charge and whilst the problem itself was rectified, instead of accepting his mistake or just refunding once the error was pointed out, the server challenged the table (more tan once) which was odd. Then there was another query on the wine price charged. He shrugged and just said it was my fault as the wine ordered was assumed by the staff to have been the superior more expensive wine. They did not check when order was placed. I didn’t mind the price tbh but his terrible attitude and again challenging the customer. Anyway he chose not to refund me nor did he apologise. We also all got a frosty goodbye. Great food so I would definitely eat at Foxlow again. Seems they get the custom and hopefully this was a one off.

Sunday lunch was lovely but the menu has completely changed - went there for Brunch, ended up having to get a Sunday Lunch as there was 0 other options/choice, other than eggs and waffles. Loved the place before the menu was changed.

I've been to Foxlow Balham a couple of times before and on both the previous occasions I had a fantastic experience. Sadly my most recent visit fell well short of what I'd come to expect, mostly because the service was so slapdash and careless. When we ordered, our waitress left before asking us how we wanted our steaks cooked, and then disappeared, meaning we spent several minutes wondering how to get her attention before she eventually reappeared to check. Later we asked for some extra mayonnaise for our chips; it never appeared. We ordered a large sirloin steak to share, having been assured by our waitress that it was better value than the individual steaks, but our she failed to point out that the steak was bone-in, meaning that, while it was tasty, we actually got a lot less steak than we'd expected. After the steak, we ordered a cheese board. The specific cheeses weren't listed on the menu, and the waiter who brought it to us didn't bother telling us what they were. When we asked about them, he didn't know; they did send someone over who told us the brand names of the cheeses, but not what sort of cheese they were or where they came from, so we were none the wiser. I realise all of these might seem like small things, but when you're paying £50 a head for a meal, and when 12.5% service is automatically added into the bill, I think the service ought to be better than this. The food is still delicious and the atmosphere great, but I have second thoughts about going back now.

I have been to foxlows many times and always found it great, but this time was very disappointing. Staff were not as good as usual - small things like one of our party is allergic to gluten and they weren't very helpful at finding out information for her, my friend left his phone at the bar (we were the only ones there) and no one thought to bring it to the table for him so he had to drive back later when he realised. Usually, the staff are great and very friendly but had gone downhill, no one at the front desk to welcome for table etc. They also forgot items that had been ordered and we had to request.
Also, the flat iron steak had literally halved in size and you got 5 small pieces that were a bit fatty whereas before it has been very good and sweet potato dip was literally like cold sweet potato mash and we felt inedible.

Very disappointed as have been multiple times and recommended to lots of people but this wasn't a good experience.

We may have just gone on an off day, perhaps key people were off ill.

Thanks

One of the waiters was way too chatty and a little inappropriate.

The food was average at best. Considering this is the sister company of the Hawksmoor, I was disappointed.

I am a regular at Foxlow, so have somewhat of a bias here. But as a vegan with a carnivore boyfriend, it is one of the only restaurants in my area where we are both happy every time we go! I have taken my notoriously picky pescatarian father here, and he LOVES it!

In terms of vegan food, the kale salad starter and spiced cauliflower main are my go to’s, but they have recently introduced several new vegan options! I am so excited to see my favourite place introduce even more options for me to try out!

The cocktails are really good, and, although I’m not much of a drinker, their unique spins on the classics are always fun to try.

The staff are wonderful, and always happy to cater to my intolerances (you’d be surprised how many negative responses I get sometimes about this elsewhere!).

Basically, 10/10 all round!

Side/starter dishes were also creative and very tasty. Good wine, cocktail, and short but effective desert wine list.

We will definitely go back.

Booked for a late lunch. Restaurant was quite noisy so a bit distracting. Limited brunch menu I thought and the main menu was not available until 3 pm. Service was attentive and friendly and food was good but not exceptional (my chicken burger was fried chicken with a lot of batter) so a little bit disappointed as had been expecting better. Not sure I would rush to return but all perfectly fine. At least I was able to book online so no queuing for a table which was a plus.

I visited Foxlow with my partner for brunch. It’s a nice bistro, with a good attmosphere however on a saturday it’s very loud as a lot of people are participating in bottomless brunch. We booked in advance as I imagine you would need to at the weekend. Service was friendly and efficient - our drinks were topped up regularly. However they do add a meaty service charge on top of the bill (even though there were only two of us!), so remember to exercise your discretion!
