Foxlow Balham on Bedford Hill joined the growing family of neighbourhood restaurants in 2015. Located on a corner site with glass doors opening onto the street with outdoor seating, Foxlow Balham also has an intimate, speakeasy-style 35-cover basement bar, The Owl. The menu revolves around a real charcoal grill and the best produce the team, including the Hawksmoor Group Executive Chef Richard Turner and Foxlow Development Chef Lewis Hannaford, have been able to hunt down, focussing on the company’s belief in quality, sustainability and animal welfare.

We asked for a table with space around it for a pram, we added people to our booking, nothing was too much trouble. everything we asked for correct, and we had service with a smile..... which you have to agree is unusual in London these days.
We wouldn't hesitate to go back, or to recommend to others. Well done Foxlow.

Good local restaurant. A nice crowd and not too tightly packed. the menu changed recently - I think that lunch was eliminated, and I'm a bit sad about this, but if that works for everyone else then good for them.

Amazing food, service and wine just a shame the fries couldn’t be coeliac friendly as a steak isn’t the same without chips. The steak and the broccoli though were tremendous.

Overall the atmosphere was great and the food was amazing (my dad said it was the best beef he had ever tasted and he is a very tough critic!) The only down point would be that it was very loud but this is expected on a sunday afternoon!

Food plates very small for the price. Glasses were often empty during a bottomless brunch and had to ask to be re-filled every time, probably because we didn't seem to have been allocated just one waiter. But food was tasty and the venue itself nice.

A friendly neighbourhood bar/restaurant with a limited menu but perfectly OK. The young staff are notably helpful and fun so it’s a good place for a simple supper with friends

Very expensive for a Sunday lunch. More expensive than the laughing gravy but not matched by the quality. Staff were pleasant enough.

We booked a table for 6 for sunday brunch and were not disappointed. The service was great and there was no fuss made when we asked to be switched onto the bottomless bloody mary's half way through our meal. Great atmosphere and food, will come again soon.

From arrival the staff were helpful and hospitable. The food was great we all had brunch and the beans on the all day breakfast were amazing and that's saying a lot from me as I don't usually like beans that come with a full English.

Lovely, convivial catch up Friday lunch with a friend where we both had the bavette steak burgers with chips, a decent red wine, not extortionate, plus a cocktail each.

The passion fruit cheesecake was particular delicious!

We had the salmon crudo and five pepper squid starters, which were both great (especially the squid), and then a sirloin and a ribeye steak as main, which were both good. A bottle of Gran Cerdo Tempranillo was great too.

I love this restaurant and go regularly. The food is always good, being affiliated with Hawksmoor, I would expect this to be the case. The service has always been excellent. I have had issues where the same wines tasted significantly different, it was investigated, and a different vintage was provided for our second bottle. This was quickly identified and swapped without question. The ambience is great, and provides a great atmosphere for simple catch ups or large groups. I highly recommend this restaurant and will continue to return.

Ordered the vegan menu. My husband’s main course came with one of the three elements missing. Sent it back only to receive a cold version instead. Staff were very accommodating and reduced the bill significantly but ultimately we went home hungry. Shame.

Attentive waitress who was able to answer any questions we had.

Food arrived quickly and was well cooked, perhaps more side options would make the menu a little more extensive.

I had been to Foxlows before and was looking forward to coming back for a Christmas evening out with my husband. The service was really terrible despite it being very quiet. We had to flag someone down to get their attention to order drinks, by which stage we were ready to order our food. The food took a very long time to come out. I had finished my wine, but nobody came over to ask if I would like another. When the food finally came, the meat was rare (I had asked for it well done, no pink). I didn't send it back as I thought I would be waiting another 30 minutes to eat. So my husband and I swapped dishes. His chicken was very good and he enjoyed the rare steak. Ordered dessert. Again, more delays and the waitress actually apologised for it being so late. No one asked us how our meal was, or was everything okay. More flagging down of wait staff to get the bill and go and spend our money else where to have some cocktails. Such a shame, as the service really let the food down.
