Very good with friendly and accommodating staff. Food excellent. Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is that the music was a bit loud for me - but then I'm quite old now!
Foxlow is easily the best restaurant in the neighbourhood - it does great food, has fantastic service and a great atmosphere, plus the prices are really reasonable. It’s got the right balance of everything!
We had a great time at the restaurant, but service was below average. It took a while to be served at our table.
Everytime I go I have the spice roasted cauliflower with the carrot and kale salad on the side - it is so delicious.
Great food! Fab service! The food really is very yummy and they cook it with love
Excellent service (better than I have had on some other occasions). Good drinks, great roast beef.
Menu’s changed a bit - not the same quality as my partner and I are used to but still good nonetheless
I recently celebrated my birthday at Foxlow’s, Balham. However, I did not say that this was the occasion when booking. On the day, my friends made it far too clear that we were out for my birthday celebrations...one of the waiters then provided me with a drink on the house. Thank you!
Alongside that, the food was superb, the service was great and staff were very attentive and catered to our needs.
Will be heading back in the near future, I have no doubts.
We came here for Saturday morning brunch as a group of 7 friends. The bottomless bloody Mary’s and bottomless fizz seemed like great value, and there was always someone on hand to refill!
The food was great, even the veggie option.
I am a big fan of Foxlow Balham, however, on this occasion, it was a real disappointment. My husband and I both ordered the Flat Iron Steak. His looked much better than mind and said it was fine. Mine however was extremely tough and grisly. The Bearnaise sauce was also not very nice. It just had a strange taste to it.
No one came over during the meal to ask how it was and all servers were very preoccupied otherwise I would have mentioned it.
I Havw visited follow a few times - a good all rounder!
Have been to Foxlow a few times before and have always enjoyed it but we went on this occasion for a Time Out Offer (Burger, Fries and Drink for £13)
My partner and friend had a Bacon Double Cheeseburger which seemed good value and had a decent consistency between meat and bread (although the burger was slightly over cooked) and tasted good.
I had the Foxlow Burger which seemed poor in comparison - the meat was quite thin (despite being told it was a bigger burger than the Bacon Double) which meant there was too much bread. Additionally, the burger was pink (which is great) but was burned on the outside (not so great) meaning I had a burnt charcoal taste in my mouth for the next hour. So I definitely felt like I made a bad choice there!
Anyway - the service was nice and friendly but the food needs improving as it wasn’t up to the usual standards.
Excellent service from Chris and other staff members. Lovely limitless prosecco lunch.
First time at Foxlow Balham. The service was fantastic, we had a brilliant waiter who had a smile all afternoon and sported a friendly attitude. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.
My friend and I had a brilliant bottomless brunch and will be returning soon!
Lovely find in SW London. Food didn't dissapoint (will have to go back and try brunch menu - and Sunday lunch!). Staff lovely and friendly and very helpful with food choices. Was there in time for happy hour and the cocktails didn't dissapoint.
Lovely birthday brunch with friends. Thank you for the birthday pudding and candles!
Always love a trip to Foxlow but food disappointing. Sea Bream really really boney and overdone and mac and cheese also overdone.
Cocktails and steak and burger that our friends had were great
Great meal and thoroughly enjoyed it
We had bottomless brunch with unlimited bloody Mary’s. The bloody Mary’s were very good, with just the right amount of spice.
Food was good but didn’t really ‘wow’ us - I had poached eggs and smoked salmon for £10 which only had one slice of toast - I think two would have given me a more filling meal without costing the restaurant too much. Seems fairly priced all in all though. Would recommend.
This has to be the best place in Balham to drink and eat. And there are lots of other places don’t get me wrong but they are the full package and the staff are just the best. Love it
Great menu, food, drinks and general vibe and decor. Amazing hand dryer
Came for a birthday meal. Was offered the Sirloin as it was a special at nearly 600g for £42 which I thought was fine, however receiving the actual steak there was hardly 300g of meat, not near enough to share with 2 people. This was not explained properly that you end up paying £20 for a bone! Apart from that service was good.
Went for brunch but we were a tad disappointed with both the coffee and food. The coffees were cold, although they did bring us a few slightly warmer replacements when we complained. The brunch menu was very limited, so we went for the fried chicken with gravy, and a muffin with sausage and egg.
The fried chicken choice was not great, with even the gravy being quite flavourless. The muffin was not much better.
Unfortunately we will not be coming back again, especially with so much choice in "cafe alley" just around the corner.
The food at Foxlow is excellent - I had the fried chicken waffles from the brunch menu and it was incredible!
The service was fine but could have been better. We ordered the bottomless coffee option and had to ask for coffee refills. We were also offered a small table in a very busy part of the restaurant and had to ask to sit elsewhere. We were able to but didn't get the impression the staff were happy for us to move.
That said, we will definitely go back!
The Foxlow has such a fantastic vibe, delicious food and great drinks. Would highly recommend it.
Lovely breakfast and the service was great, making sure our bubbly kept flowing.
Andy and his team were attentive, but gave us space. Steak was fabulous but we are biggest fan of the starters. The ribs are amazing. Cocktails never disappoint. Thank you.
Having been to the St. John restaurant a number of times, my expectations were very high. The Balham restaurant didn't quite live up to it's big brother, but the layout and finish was nice, although we found that the 2-seater tables were uncomfortably close to each other (our neighbours were looking at and listening to us whilst we were talking - in between them being on their phones. A sad reflection of current society..) and no-one offered to take our coat and bags to a cloak room. The service was efficient, but not spectacular. I thought the staff lacked charm, but were not in any way offensive. Overall though, I'd definitely go again, and it's good to have the brand so close to home - just don't getting silly ideas and try and do a Gaucho.....Hasn't worked out too well for them.
Service was really attentive and friendly. Good homely food
I hate to give a bad one but the service is useless! Nice enough people but dear lord. Coffees and drinks took 20 minutes. The scrambled eggs were dry and looked like my 7 year old made them. I didn’t eat them. Go to brick wood and order the scrambled eggs on sourdough to see how it should be done. Their food is fantastic! I want to love foxlow, the fried chicken waffle is usually very good but service is so slow and to not be able to scramble eggs for breakfast/brunch food seems weird. I don’t mind paying if the food is good. It could just be so so much better.
Nice restaurant for brunch. Good atmosphere, decent menu (mid-range price). Lager comes at the cost of a pint but only served in 2/3 pint glasses 🍻
As usual, the crew at Foxlow took really good care of us. The food was yummy and everyone was lovely and helpful.
I normally have a good time at Foxlow , but when we arrived I apodised for being 20 mins early . I wasn't welcomed at all and he gave me a blank expression and told me to come back in half an hour . why couldn't we have a drink at the bar first !! Anyway we came back and another Chap said sure please wait at the bar . when we went to the bar the same Rude man ( not British ) said hello Your back and made us wait 10 mins for 2 Spritzers . Our table waiter was good and friendly but we couldn't order off the main menu as we were 8 mins early ! so we ordered the breakfast stuff …. Meanwhile the rude waiter ( E.Europeaian ) went into the Kitchen and all hell broke out with one of the Chefs . I saw it all and the Waiter looked smug with himself as the poor Chef was told off .
Lets hope next time will be better as I really like to meet my friends there …. regards Robert
Fairly terrible brunch. £15 for an average egg sandwich on a plain muffin. Another £15 for avocado on toast. And They have three Items on their brunch menu and were sold out of one. Perhaps the bottomless brunch is the appeal but if you’re actually interested in the food, skip this place.
Great service as always, tasty food and relaxed atmosphere.
We went for my sister's birthday lunch and it was a pretty disappointing experience.
The host when we arrived was lovely, very friendly and welcoming and showed us to a lovely table.
That was pretty much the end of the positive.
Our waitress was terrible- it took us ages to be served and forever for our drinks to arrive.
We chose a cocktail each which I expected to be good as they have a cocktail bar downstairs. They were hugely disappointing- tiny and not very nice. No effort on the presentation at all and at £8 and £9, I expected better.
The food was OK... a bit try hard and unfortunately they had run out of my first choice dish.
The setting itself was nice and there was a nice vibe, but I definitely won't be going back or recommending that anyone else bother either.
Last minute decision to eat out and the restaurant did not disappoint; excellent selection of beers, wine and cocktails with some unusual, creative and delicious dishes. The service was superb. Good value for money and will visit again.
We are both vegetarians so expected a limited choice from a steak restaurant - however we were pleasantly surprised with the number of options. The food itself was delicious - we had the roasted curry cauliflower (one of the best veggie meals I’ve ever had) and the sweet potato dumplings (really tasty, texture perfect and felt very light and fresh). The carrot hummous was soooo good. Will definitely be coming back. Only criticism would be the amount of time it took to place our order and get the waiters attention - other than that service was on point.
The staff were amazing!!! I am gluten free and they ran out of bread - the waitress ran over to Sainsbury's to get me some :)
They were so attentive and made the whole experience really enjoyable.
