Will Beckett and Huw Gott opened the first Foxlow restaurant in Clerkenwell in 2013 with the aim of creating a great neighbourhood bar and restaurant. Foxlow’s offering is simple, revolving around a real charcoal grill and impeccable seasonal and local produce from the best of British farmers and fishermen. Warm, informal service and a comfortable, lived-in interior add to the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
On St John Street, Foxlow is a 5-minute walk from Farringdon Tube Station, and 7 minutes’ walk from Barbican Tube Station.

Went for a Sunday lunch with freinds, convenient if you are driving as no restrictions on a Sunday on St John st. Place itself has a laidback vibe with young friendly staff and an open plan canteen style dining room. Great simple menu for veggies and carnivores alike, we had both roast beef and chicken and they went down very well as did the cauliflower veggie main. Service was friendly - could’ve done with a little more attending for drinks (especially with a 12.5 service charge....)

Well be back!

Average meal; we had Sunday lunch at Foxlow as a goodbye lunch for my sister who is moving to Canada. I've eaten dinner here before which I thoroughly enjoyed and they have great steak, however the Sunday lunch was disappointing. An overall lack of food, and unseasoned veggies including beetroot and carrots that tasted like they had just been boiled. Quite disappointed overall given the price of Foxlow.

Great food and service, nice location in heart of Clerkenwell - very cool and hip crowd when we went. The fillet streak and panna cotta.

Been before and had very good experiences, however this experience was flawed in many areas

So in a nutshell:

Front of House – Dis-organised and uninterested, no indication to take our coats or where to put them.

Service at table – Good

Drinks – Beers were ordered with a glass or the option for a glass only offered later

Food – we ordered 4 flat irons between 3. Due to the blood on the plate, the cut had not been rested and was therefore tough, the 4 flat iron to share was left in a skillet and as a result our medium rare cut was well done. Sides were good.

Basic errors and disappointing as the Hawskmoor/Foxlow brands do pride themselves on cooking the best steaks.

Score wise on yesterday, 4/10

Sorry

Lovely staff , decent food, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord beer a winner and fair value!

Four star because it lacks something in its decor:ambiance that even the friendliest of staff can’t overcome.

Previously been to Foxlow in Balham and booked this on the strength of a very enjoyable experience there but was a bit disappointed in truth. We booked a table for 1945 (and I admit that we were 5 mins late) but was eventually told our table was ready at 2030. What was a bit irritating was that there seemed no rush to get us seated. Food was decent as was our table service, but front of house was pretty disinterested and I found that really pretty annoying.

Another brilliant meal at Foxlow Clerkenwell. The friendly and knowledgeable staff were attentive. My salmon crude and chilli squid (yes I had 2 starters to myself) were spot on, with just the right amount of prep, lime and chilli. Our 950 gram Porterhouse steak for sharing was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Sides and proper English mustard, long with the mushroom side, helped us along. Skipped the dessert options (training for an Ironman event), but drank our own proper wine.
