Fantastic food that is sourced from great meat produce/farms. Loved the chicken burger
Great food, great service.
Sunday brunch. Highly recommend the chicken & waffles. My boyfriend enjoyed the Foxlow breakfast with an extra side of hash brown. Good quality ingredients and friendly service. It was quiet at 11.15 but was around two thirds full by 12.00.
Always consistently great and nice service and friendly staff!
I visited Foxlow Clerkenwell on Friday evening for a catch up with a friend, the service by my waiter was impeccable however I cannot remember his name, he was very attentive to our needs and suggesting cocktails and making sure we were ok.
He was tall with a beard and he told me he was 32 lovely guy and i would definately come again as long as he could be my server.
I really enjoyed Foxlow, as it made me feel a little like I was in New York. As a vegan, I was impressed by Foxlow's options for me - especially as I perceived it to be a very meaty restaurant. Although there may not have been many options, they were excellent - which is what counts!
Our waiters were great, blending attentive service with a casual 'jokey' vibe. We had booked for 8.30pm, so were on a late sitting, but were in no way rushed at all.
I have never heard about this place before but decided to give it a try based on the reviews. The staff is really friendly and the environment is relaxed.
The food was good as well. My flat Iron was perfect!
Excellent service and food made even better by a pleasant gentleman named Quincy. Friendly and funny, really capped off what was a great evening
Great food great atmosphere. Highly recommended! Not much more to add but 50 characters needed.
Had a mid-week get together at 8.30 pm: pretty quiet but decent hum and staff very welcoming and attentive. Decor seemed a bit tired and menus a bit dog-eared which was a disappointment. Food was good, wine list a bit "meh" and the steak prices higher than expected. Sense was that owners were managing costs tightly and hoping to hold prices despite losing the cachet Foxlow used to have.
The flat iron steak was done to perfection and the eggplant was delicious
Absolutely wicked evening..the service was excellent and the food was lovely..would definitely come again with friends or family..👍
Good food ..service was excellent
The worst service I have ever encountered in a restaurant.
When asking wait staff to confirm which table sauce was a ketchup, the waitress replied with ‘you’ve asked me that 3 times’ and walked off’
When asking another waiter (who turned out to be the manager on duty) what ingredients were in a certain cocktail. He said ‘me no speak anglaise’ and turned and walked off.
After asking to speak to the manager, and finding out he was in fact one of the rude waiters, he then defended his staff and said that we were rude.
I work in corporate hospitality and not one member of the party was rude to the staff.
I think the staff and the manager need to go back to customer service school.
Will never return and recommend anyone to do the same.
Great dinner on a Sat.
Perfect pre-Barbican place to eat and drink.
Flat iron steaks and burgers lovely and flame/smoked.
Gruner Veltliner and Carmenere great value.
Went for a Sunday lunch with freinds, convenient if you are driving as no restrictions on a Sunday on St John st. Place itself has a laidback vibe with young friendly staff and an open plan canteen style dining room. Great simple menu for veggies and carnivores alike, we had both roast beef and chicken and they went down very well as did the cauliflower veggie main. Service was friendly - could’ve done with a little more attending for drinks (especially with a 12.5 service charge....)
Well be back!
Average meal; we had Sunday lunch at Foxlow as a goodbye lunch for my sister who is moving to Canada. I've eaten dinner here before which I thoroughly enjoyed and they have great steak, however the Sunday lunch was disappointing. An overall lack of food, and unseasoned veggies including beetroot and carrots that tasted like they had just been boiled. Quite disappointed overall given the price of Foxlow.
Restaurant was a lovely surprise our first visit we enjoyed our time there very much
Relaxed but special dining. Shared a T-bone which was great.🥩
Great food. The staff was extremely friendly, the food was great, and it had a great vibe. I would go back any time.
Very pleasant, great service and friendly atmosphere!
Great food and service, nice location in heart of Clerkenwell - very cool and hip crowd when we went. The fillet streak and panna cotta.
Great twist on the apple crumble dessert.
Great restaurant, food was tasty. And BYO Tuesdays!
Been before and had very good experiences, however this experience was flawed in many areas
So in a nutshell:
Front of House – Dis-organised and uninterested, no indication to take our coats or where to put them.
Service at table – Good
Drinks – Beers were ordered with a glass or the option for a glass only offered later
Food – we ordered 4 flat irons between 3. Due to the blood on the plate, the cut had not been rested and was therefore tough, the 4 flat iron to share was left in a skillet and as a result our medium rare cut was well done. Sides were good.
Basic errors and disappointing as the Hawskmoor/Foxlow brands do pride themselves on cooking the best steaks.
Score wise on yesterday, 4/10
Lovely staff , decent food, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord beer a winner and fair value!
Four star because it lacks something in its decor:ambiance that even the friendliest of staff can’t overcome.
Previously been to Foxlow in Balham and booked this on the strength of a very enjoyable experience there but was a bit disappointed in truth. We booked a table for 1945 (and I admit that we were 5 mins late) but was eventually told our table was ready at 2030. What was a bit irritating was that there seemed no rush to get us seated. Food was decent as was our table service, but front of house was pretty disinterested and I found that really pretty annoying.
Perfectly fine food, very good service but its quite noisy.
Another brilliant meal at Foxlow Clerkenwell. The friendly and knowledgeable staff were attentive. My salmon crude and chilli squid (yes I had 2 starters to myself) were spot on, with just the right amount of prep, lime and chilli. Our 950 gram Porterhouse steak for sharing was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Sides and proper English mustard, long with the mushroom side, helped us along. Skipped the dessert options (training for an Ironman event), but drank our own proper wine.
Great food - not over bearing service
Met my best friend for lunch. Delicious food, great service and the perfect way to while away the afternoon.
Absolutely incredible food, loved the ambience as well. Friendly wait staff and well cooked delicious steak
Went here on Friday with my family and had a great meal. Food was amazing, service was excellent and great cocktails too! Would definitely come again!
So welcoming, great ambience, food brilliant! The staff were friendly and knowledgable. Would definitely head there again :)
Delicious food, great cocktails, lovely wine and a warm, buzzy vibe - plus truly excellent service.
We were initially attracted by the Time Out meal vouchers but it turns out that Clerkenwell rarely accepts them. And frankly, the deal is only a couple of pounds off the normal price, so not all that exciting. The steaks were all great, and the fried chicken is epic. Wonderful selection of cocktails and the price is very reasonable both for drinks and food. Wonderful waitress made our dinner a pleasure (oh yeah, be very tempted by the Elvis sundae. it is pretty amazing with caramelised bacon slabs!)
I loved my experience here. Service was so lovely - staff were professional and attentive. Food was good and it felt warm and cosy on a cold night. Would definitely recommend and will return if I’m in the area.
A lovely place and the porterhouse was sublime! Well worth it.
We had a fabulous supper the food was delicious and a great evening. Thanks
I’ve been to Foxlow before but not during the day, and the brunch options were good! Good service and would recommend.
