Very helpful, friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and meet your requests. Delicious food, lovely ambience, clean toilets.
Delicious food and very friendly staff. The sweet potato dumplings are amazing! I have been back for those multiple times. Perfectly seasoned and feels quite healthy yet still filling!
The staff are happy to help with suggestions and the general vibe is lovely.
Having had various enjoyable meals here, we finally returned for the Sunday roast. The half chicken was good if not exceptional. The beef was fantastic - thick, pink slabs, slow cooked. Too full to contemplate pudding!
Never disappointed, I've been to this Foxlow location once before and was impressed, I frequent the Balham 'branch' often and always have a great time and it seems the Clerkenwell site is cut from the same cloth.
The staff are friendly and attentive, without jumping all over you, are happy to recommend and talk you through dishes and drinks, but without being pushy.
The food was spot on, one of the best steaks i've had this year, sides we perfect and dessert was corking as well. I'd recommend perfect for friends, a date night or meeting up with the family.
Foxlow is one of my favourite lunch spots in the area - friendly service and consistently good food, drink and overall ambience. Great value express set menu - kale salad is delicious!
Really enjoyed lunch here - excellent food and drinks in a nice setting.
Foxlow has a reputation for being meat heavy. In fact it has great vegetarian and vegan options. We had really excellent service.
Always a great spot to catch up with friends. No corkage fee on Tuesday is a gem!
Second time I’ve eaten here with friends. Great food, drinks and service. We’ll be back again. Thank you Foxlow.
Nicest meal in a long while. Excellent steaks. Good evening
This was at least my 5th trip to Foxlow, and probably my least favourite. the burgers weren't done as well as usual. And the attention from the staff was minimal. Waiting to be served, to order food, for the bill, mistake on bill that had to be corrected, non-enthusiasm from staff...
We were introduced to Foxlow by our son who lives in London. Most recently we met friends for Sunday lunch. The Roast Beef was excellent with proper roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud. We had the last of the Beef at 2.00pm so don't be too late. We had 3 starters between 4 and no one could manage a dessert. Service is informal but good. Finally the wine is reasonable for London I.e. You don't feel ripped of.
The steak and deserts were excellent as always! Starters are amazing too try the squid and salmon.
Have been to Foxlow a few times recently (admittedly twice in same week), for Brunch and Dinner. Brunch was great - hit the spot! Chicken & waffles were perfect & a rare find. Saw a lot of Sunday roasts go by, which sparked food envy - food is just fab. Quick burger special dinner mid-week with a friend also didn’t disappoint. Service is always attentive and friendly. Good cocktail and wine list, too!
Fabulous food and fabulous service - will definitely return.
Excellent service and food! Staff were very attentive
Very relaxed atmosphere with good service and well cooked food. Added bonus of bring your own wine on Tuesdays. Would visit again
Really delicious food. Well made and well seasoned! Lots of options. The vegan sweet potato dumpling were amazing!! I must go back again for them.
Really great, very buzzy place to go for a Friday afternoon steak and get excited for the weekend ahead.
On previous occasions this restaurant has been great but on the occasion the food was quite disappointing, the steak was extremely tough and chewy!
Amazing venue, great beer and wonderful ambience.
Cook the burgers medium rare, taste was fantastic but slightly over done ;).
When we made the booking, we noted it was for 5 people in total and requested that we be provided with a high chair. When we arrived at Foxlow, we were sat at a table laid for 6 people, without a high chair. Its not a huge point, as the helpful staff immediately fetched a highchair when we explained, but it suggests there isn't necessarily a lot of attention being paid to the details of booking. As we were sat at a table laid for 6, we had to request to order, as the waiters assumed we were waiting for a 6th person, which was not the case. Once that was out of the way, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was very tasty, and the ambience was good.
Absolutely delicious! We were a group of 8 and a little bit late for our res and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. I had the rib eye which was cooked to perfection (m/r), a few people had the whole fish which was equally divine and we had a mixture of starters, I seem to recall the ribs being very succulent. Our server was fabulous and it was the perfect location for a friends get together.
Took family members to Foxlow for a birthday meal. As ever, the quality was high, service attentive and atmosphere good.
Great restaurant off the beaten track. Great cocktails, mixed well. Short menu, but steaks to die for, cooked just as you like... Staff very friendly and knowledgeable, and made welcome recommendations. We visited on Saturday 5:30 and were the only customers until we left, so I hope they get busy later on... Highly recommended.
Lovely staff! And lovely calm atmosphere. Great for all age groups and in a prime location to go out afterwards.
Even though I haven’t made a particular request, I’d prefer a better table to be reserved which is not just by the kitchen for a party of 5. Other than that, it was a really nice dinner and I’d gladly visit again.
The staff that were working on Monday 16th July 2018 were amazing! They deserve a bonus!
Needed somewhere for Sunday lunch following a visit to an exhibition at the Barbican. Foxlow worked perfectly. We had the choice of Brunch or Lunch and chose the Sunday roast lunch option. The beef was excellent, as were all the vegetables and the Yorkshire pudding. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. I'd definitely go again.
While on vacation we visited Foxlow as it was close in proximity to our B&B and also we had grown tired of pub fare. I made a reservation for that same night, more precautionary than anything- since we’d never been we didn’t know if it would be crowded or not. Anyway, we arrived 15mins early and were able to be seated right away... there were plenty of tables available.
The service was prompt- they had a nice selection of starters and mains. We thought the value was good, maybe a little pricey on the drinks (alcoholic). We had the chicken burger and ribeye steak followed by the sticky toffee pudding. We enjoyed everything! I would definitely recommend the Foxlow to anyone! It’s likely we will be back again before the trip is over!
Excellent experience, amazing food and people :)
There was nothing spectacular about it. Perhaps it was what I ordered. The chicken was tasteless but the gravy was very good
Great steaks, great wine and great ribs to start! Thank you!
Very nice experience!
Cauliflower a little bit overdone but otherwise excellent vegetarian meals. Highly recommend
I booked for a friend’s get together brunch. They didn’t want to make a fuss and so spoil the occasion but it wasn’t great. Burnt toast, burnt waffle, hard poached eggs - shouldn’t get that wrong. Disappointed. Shame as looks great and menu was good.
It's a nice restaurant in an easy to get to location. I thought that Foxlow would be slightly more upclass than we got, it felt like we'd just gone into a posh pub rather than a nice restaurant. The food was average, nothing amazing to recommend, but certainly wasn't bad. Fine for a bit to eat or a company lunch, not that romantic for two.
As a party of vegans, meat eaters, a diabetic and various allergies, it’s not often we can find somewhere we are all catered for - but Foxlow Clerkenwell did this and more - as soon as we entered the inverted parlour off St John’s St and into the plush, 1960s interior, we were converted. My meal of potato dumplings, grilled cauliflower in rich sauces, fries and mushrooms- was simply the best sit down vegan meal I’ve had in London, and with a drinks menu that boasts the widest range of vegan wines I have ever seen, we toasted the family birthday in style. Everyone ate something they enjoyed and we were surprised by the late hour when we eventually left. A great find, a sure recommendation and a future booking. A gem in London.
Mac and Cheese that tasted like it could have been from a box, questionable burgers, chintzy mix drinks that came closer in size to resembling shots, and the worst Dark & Stormy I've ever had.
But hey, if you enjoy generic rock from the mid-90s played at a volume that makes it hard to hear what the people across the table are saying to you, then this might just be the restaurant you've been looking for.
And if you don't find the place very charming, fear not! The servers will rush you through your meal even when there are still plenty of tables open. So, at least you can count on not being at this place long enough to truly get a bad impression.
Had a wonderful time for my friend's birthday! Quincy provided excellent service, and really made our stay more personal. Many thanks for your hospitality!
great food and wonderful service. For me overcooked salmon. Rest was good (other persons)
