Service was great! We were celebrating a birthday and they made us feel very special!
This was an excellent meal. The food was cooked perfectly. Great value, 2 courses for £14.95 and a free bottle of decent wine per couple. Staff and service very good. Great night out with friends. Would recommend to visit any evening. This is our second trip within with friends who have all been very impressed.
Met family here having previously enjoyed visits. Sadly, a little below par on this occasion. Dishes unavailable and drinks ordered that did not arrive. Woman in charge appeared careworn and unenthusiastic. The food that was available was good. Might try one of the other "Goose Green" alternatives in the light of this experience next time.
A bit disappointing really, not been along for some 5 months and last time it was excellent. This occasion the service was bordering on poor, skill level ordinary (no pepper in the pot- no smaller cutlery for the starter- Item off the menu replacement not explained- first table was in a dreadful location so moved waiting team understaffed )
The food was nice not memorable or especially creative just above ordinary.
We would return one under par meal doesn't spoil it all but take note please train the staff and raise them above the level of a pub quality of service.
Excellent offer and service. Really nice to see a full restaurant even on a Monday. There was a slight misshap with some of the vegetables which was rectified with no quibble at all from staff.
Six of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal - something for everyone. Staff very attentive and friendly.
Have already told friends how much we enjoyed ourselves.
Think that the fifth category should be Excellent - outstanding doesn't sound right to me.
Went with friends for evening meal and enjoyed everything.
The staff were lovely and attentive and fast service.
Food was excellent.....we all had the steak which was cooked perfectly to everyones requirements. Definitely recommend the French Onion soup....yummy
Thank you for a very nice night
Very good food and service . Most enjoyable lunchtime dining
Excellent meal - very reasonable prices. There is always a good choice available on the menu which suit most tastes.
A very nice evening , good food, we brought our in laws from Australia, they enjoyed the experience.
Excellent Service. Fantastic Food - Definitely visit again soon.
Enjoyed a nice date night on Friday evening at Francs. The service was a bit slower than expected and we had to ask to have our order taken. Lovely food and good wine. The vegetarian option for the main course (stuffed peppers) was a little bland. Overall a good experience. Not as good an ambiance as we've found in the past.
The whole experience with Francs was poor from start to finsh.
It took 5 mins before anyone even came to the bar to acknowledge we had arrived; there were still a couple of couples ahead of us waiting to be seen to.
Once we were seated, it then took a good 10 minutes before our drinks order was taken, and a further 10 minutes before they arrived - despite THREE different people asking if we were OK for drinks. it would seem that none of them wanted to follow up by actually delivering them.
When they did both the pint and wine were warm and had to be replaced (which again took some time...).
The food was ordered - I originally asked for the parfait but was told that was no longer on the menu but that a "terrine" was and it was "exactly the same". I was dubious and questioned this knowing the difference in texture alone, but as he looked like the maitre'd, I assumed he knew what he was talking about better than me. The terrine arrived and as I thought it wasn't the same as a parfait - a further disappointment to add to the growing list.
For the main course, my husband ordered the hake which he said was OK but was overwhelmed by a particularly large mound of uncooked crushed potato. He ate the fish only.
I ordered the duck which on the menu it said it came pink. But on arrival was so over-cooked it was difficult to get my "steak knife" through it. I ate only the rosti that came with it (the bits that weren't burnt anyway).
It was clear that we had not enjoyed our main course, and when asked if we had we did feedback but it didn't seem like this was really taken on board at all.
The bill arrived as we asked for it - the first bit of quick service we had experienced all night (surpringly!!).
I can honestly say, when there has been such great additions to the Altrincham / Hale food scene, Francs stands out for all the wrong reasons.
Even though our group, regrettably , arrived between 30 and 60 minutes late, we were met with courtesy and friendliness and the service we received throughout our meal was attentive but in no way rushed and, we were still offered the Bon Marche menu - great value at £14:95 for a starter and main course. Enough choice on this menu too.
The presentation and combination of flavours in the food is superb .
Dessert and coffee, for those who wanted to add this from the main menu were reasonably priced.
Our group are agreed that this is now a venue for us to get together again, especially as everyone now knows how to get there and, where to park !
Very enjoyable experience but found the lack of facilities for less able customers a diificulty.
Delicious meal with friendly and helpful service. Everyone in group found something on the menu which suited their tastes.
Over the years this restaurant has consistently provided well cooked food and the evening meal we had was no exception.
My friend and I chose from the lunch menu it was great value and great food. Note to self - go more often 😍
Great menu choice and reasonably priced. Service was excellent - definitely will return
Convenient parking and very handy for the cinema .
Have eaten here quite a bit and have never been disappointed. If your in a hurry for a film they deliver with no drop in standards either for quality of food or of service. I would certainly recommend Francs .
Midweek Special offers very good. Lots of choice as well as the 'specials of the day' board
We were sat close to the function room which was really noisy.
The service was slow though the waitresses were very pleasant.
The online menu was different from the actual menu - disappointing choices.
The food was ok, nothing special, but reasonably priced.
We use Francs a lot, staff are excellent and very friendly, good atmosphere, excellent location.
It was an etremely pleasant experience from start to finish service was very good food excellent and ambience friendly Overall it was a great evening and we will definitely visit again.
Despite clearly being caught out by a sudden surge of people taking advantage of the good weather the staff were very attentive and considerate. There was a bit of a wait for the first course but all 7 of our group were very happy and it was worth the wait.the mains followed shortly after and again everyone was more than satisfied.we will be going again soon!
Met up with an old friend for a catch up and had a great meal. We went on a Tuesday evening so enjoyed the 2 for 1 a la carte offer. Looking forward to going back soon.
Opted for Francs for my first date with my new lady friend as I knew I could rely on the food, service and atmosphere being just right.
The fishcake (Gallete) was sublime as was the waffle desert.. The carbonade was tasty but the beef skirt needed another hour at least of cooking to remove the toughness. Always a problem with cheap cuts of beef but the chef should have known this. My first choice was the cassoulet but none available even at a 7 oclock sitting. Surprising since its a set menu option. Otherwise a lovely evening with friends.
We dined in France's restaurant this week and it was our second visit this year.
The location is quite convenient and there is easy nearby parking
The ambiance was comfortable with the tables well spread and not crowded. I liked particularly the fact that for large dining groups there was a separate area.
The food was variable I liked the crepes with Gruyere cheese but my wife thought the soup taste did not go together well.
The wine was affordable but I wished we had more French wines selection
The service was good friendly and attentive
I will visit again.
I have been going to Francs for many years.the price has increased but the food is still good value for money.very well cooked dishes . Generous portions and exquisite puddings. Very attentive staff and good service.
The meal was excellent, never been to this restaurant before. Service was great, the waitress was very helpful and sat us at a table overlooking Goose Green. The only downside was that the coffee and cappuccino were too strong eve though we asked for 1 shot instead of their usual two.
Food mostly excellent but cassoulet was disappoint. This is should be a dish of beans with confit of duck and toulouse sausage. The cassoulet served here was a mix of toulouse sausage, lamb and chicken with a few beans hiding away. Tasty but unbalanced.
Otherwise, it was a great lunch with good service.
A decent restaurant with a good choice of food. Always a god choice!
Went on a Wednesday evening for a delayed Valentine's Day meal and enjoyed it even more than usual. We are relatively regular goers to Francs for past 15+ years but almost always at a weekend (Fri or Sat in the evening or lunchtime on a Sunday). At weekends it's almost always packed to the rafters so with a half occupancy on a weekday evening it was a particularly pleasant surprise to be able to talk without raised voices.
Food and service were excellent as always and the new menus refreshing. We'll be mid-week visitors more often from now on.
Thanks and keep up the great experiences.
Love going to Francs. They have wonderful service, lovely food and friendly staffs. Enjoyed it every time
brilliant as always....and the oysters were to die for - see you soon
Have visited here before and ate a la carte which was lovely...hence why we booked again for a special occasion. Unfortunately the set menu was quite expensive for a mainly fish based menu... i dont mind fish now and again but my fiance doesnt like it at all..so was extremely limited in his choice...more steak options would have been appreciated....will not visit again on a set menu option for valentines because of this...
Best experience for quite sometime.. Roll on next visit...
Been coming to Francs for years. Consistently good. Lamb main course especially good. Main disappointment? No crème brulee. In a Bistro:)
