Place lacked atmosphere. Menu's were so badly printed they were scarcely readable. Waiter acknowledged that many people made that point yet nothin had been done. So I read the online menu on my phone instead. But when I came to order, my choice wasn't available as the menu online wasn't updated. I wouldnt have eaten there had I seen the limited choice on the menu that was actually being used. Ended up with a very dull and flavourless pizza. Had olives to start and they hadn't been drained and were swimming in olive oil. The first olive I took was hollow and had a pool of olive oil in it that went straight down my new top. Not impressed. I gave up on the olives as it was impossible to get them out of the oil bath.
I asked for a gin list but there wasn't one available and I couldn't understand the waiters accent so I have no idea what I actually drank!
Staying for three nights in the hotel, but with lots of other great local options either just up the road or in central Newcastle, I'll be going elsewhere for the other nights.
We went to Fratello's to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary as we had our wedding reception at the Holiday Inn. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening
Great food , service and atmosphere. Only niggle is £6 charged for prawns I only had 2 on my meal very overcharged.
Attached to the hotel, the food was good.
Not a huge menu, but everyone found something they liked to eat.
Service was lovely.
very nice place for lunch with friends and family.
Very friendly and helpful people when needed to make amendment to booking that could not be accommodated online. Clean and safe feeling, well distanced restaurant with welcoming staff.
There was a longer wait than expected for food to arrive - but you could see that the staff were working very efficiently and had a large number of covers to service. It was also clear that additional staff were brought online through the evening to cope with the rush. The food was well cooked and came exactly as described - and there was good attention to detail and needs of those in our party with food allergies. A nice friendly relaxed atmosphere which made a good location for our family to meet up.
Located on a very busy main road, the restaurant is inside the Holiday Inn. Parking on site was free but a nightmare - I had to park in a 'no parking' place and my friend who's disabled had to navigate a massive pile of laundry bags blocking half of the only unoccupied disabled parking space. Despite mentioning this at reception there appeared to be more bags present when we left. The meal itself started off well, lovely staff who found us a quiet table away from the main room as my friend is hard of hearing. But we had to wait a long time for our drinks order to be taken, then a long time for the drinks to arrive and the food order to be taken. When it did arrive the food (pizzas, potato skins, bruschetta) was really nice but throughout the evening we were never asked if we would like any more drinks which we did, and once the main course was cleared away we were just left alone and never asked if we would like to order desserts, which we would definitely have done. Eventually we gave up waiting and went to find someone in order to pay the bill. We won't be back.
Had a lovely evening with a friend celebrating her birthday. Lovely food.
We booked for lunch and we were disappointed when we arrived to find we were the only table in. Lack of atmosphere and slow service considering we were the only people in. Only had a lunch menu available which wasn’t made clear when booking and the choice was very limited. However it was good value for money. Next time we would come back on an evening.
there was only one member of staff . the food was a bit cold as if it had been standing for too long mentioned thuis to the manager who was the only one working . bit disappointed really as this was a lunch for my wife's 50th birthday
Not serving full menu even though it doesn’t say online. We knew what we wanted to order before arriving so had to pick alternatives. The food we had was delicious though. Couldn’t fault it
First visit but won't be the last.staff very attentive.very relaxed atmosphere and didn't feel rushed in any way.
Friday afternoon catch-up with my sister. Good quality food and great service. Customer service from everyone was excellent arrival until we left.
Not a big menu but food was tasty and well presented. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Good value for money and nice atmosphere.
Meal was delicious and hot. Biscoff cheesecake was absolutely beautiful!
Lovely waitress looking after us
Was in for an hour and only got two glasses of wine nobody came to ask us what we wanted to eat even though they walked by our table 4 times after asking the table behind us what drinks they ordered 3 times because the servers kept forgetting the order. It also took 30 minutes just to get those 2 glasses of wine we ordered. We left after that hour. No food just two glasses of wine.
Menu colours made reading difficult too dark not enough light
Food was great and so was the service
Food was really tasty and well presented. Portion sizes were also good.
I think the food was over priced for what it was, also it states it’s Italian but the menu choices where limited and included things like burgers and Mexican, which I like, but it’s not Italian!
Brilliant good food good staff good atmosphere overall excellent
Brilliant food, service was very fast and friendly.
Lovely meal, great service. Really good price. Lovely atmosphere. Recommend it. Parking on site good.
We were a little late and called ahead and staff were very relaxed and understanding about it! Food and wine was fabulous as well
Delicious food and great service. Would recommend.
very friendly staff & amazing food! good value for money & lovely cocktails. Will definitely be returning 🙃
Food was really tasty and served hot and in good time. Tables well spaced and our waitress was charming. All waiting staff were wearing masks and whole experience was very positive.
Always had lovely meals here. Enjoyed our night for my lockdown birthday. Lucky for us we have four of us in our house so had a lovely night.
food was yummy
large portions so don't overdo it in the starters
Food delicious as ever. Covid safety measures in place which makes dining feel safe
I booked here as a last minute meal out and I was overjoyed with the service, staff and the food. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is great value for money and the ambience is so cosy and warm. The staff apologised for our food running a little late, which we didn’t think it was, and offered a set of complementary desserts as an apology. Overall, we were so pleased with everything about this restaurant. I’d
recommend Fratellos to anyone.
Only criticism I had was when I booked a table, the menu was not the same as the one online. Not the dishes I wanted so had to just do with what there was.
Lovely place, pizza to die for, great staff, will definitely return
I have emailed a complaint to the hotel. Very disappointing and not value for money.
Lovely place, food was gorgeous and our waitress couldn't of done more for us, very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
Lovely food , just the bench setting was uncomfortable.
The restaurant is next door to the hotel that my wife and I stayed at. In the current COVID-19 situation we didn't want to venture any further than we had too. Luckily the restaurant was excellent, both in food, service and coping with the COVID restrictions.
We felt very reassured that the safety of customers and staff was being looked after to the highest level. Tables are very widely spaced and are all sanitised as you are about to be seated ensuring that they are as clean as possible for new customers.
The service was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and to a high standard. All staff at the restaurant should be proud of the delivery of excellent service and food in these extremely difficult times. The menu was different from the online menu, but was still offering a good varied choice in all sections of the menu. We had different mains and shared a pizza bread as an addition to the pasta meals, all excellent. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant for an evening meal with great food and service, presented in a very safe way.
The food was really good but it took so long, we spent 3 hours in our table and missed our train.
Booked for 7pm - unable to find our booking - not asked for our name / number for track & trace. Seated for half an hour before we were asked for our drinks order we also ordered main course at same time - drinks arrived 15 minutes later and food arrived at 8pm - food pretty good when it arrived
Waitress staff run off their feet but just not enough staff to cope although restaurant not full. Concerned that the reviews from the previous week were very poor but obviously no changes were made to improve the service and the resultant feedback
Unfortunately the food was terrible and the service wasn’t much better. We had to wait at the door for around 10minutes when we arrived, the restaurant wasn’t busy at this point and a number of staff walked past us. When we were taken to a table it hadn’t been cleaned so then had to stand and wait again. The bruschetta was soggy, the chicken was dry and the chips were far too salty. The lady who took our order did not know what the chefs special dessert was when we were asked to chose she went away and didn’t come back. After our main the chefs special dessert which we had not chosen arrived, I agreed to have it for ease however had one mouthful and it was disgusting. All food came out very quickly as if it had been sat waiting and not cooked to order. We had to wait a long time for cutlery when the food was already on the table and weren’t asked how the food was even though most of it was left.
