Very friendly and helpful staff, food was fantastic also.
Friendly restaurant with good food although we spent a lot of time swotting flies away from our food. My daughter ruined a top by swotting a fly away and spilling pasta sauce on to her clothes. Think they should install a blue light device as this was quite annoying and unpleasant.
We have been here before, but I'm this occasion. We waited ages for drinks, there was a 'shortage' of mayo so we're given 2-3 sachets at a time, between two children and two adults. Before out starters arrived I had to take my baby outside to get her to sleep. Whilst out the starters came, no offered to keep it warm in the kitchen etc. So my husband was not happy. Would not go back. At our local pub our children often get a full pizza with a children's meal. Here they got a slice!! The servers were polite but just very slow. One asking if we were finished we replied no, as children were still eating, and she started clearing until my husband said we still aren't finished!! We both had steaks, no steak knives. Just not a good experience.
We booked in with our tastecard 24 hours before and you must do this in order to get the discount which makes last minute bookings a bit awkward if you want to use it. Apart from that everything else was very good.
Great food but be prepared to wait, service not the quickest
Absolutely wonderful meal. Food was fabulous. Service was excellent.
I booked a table for 8 people for lunch on 16th June only to arrive and be told Fratelli's don't serve food at lunch time on Sundays!!!! So we didn't eat there but were extremely annoyed. We had travelled an hour to reach the venue, 2 groups travelling from 2 directions so we could celebrate Father's Day. Your booking system made a huge mistake. The venue offered bar meals but that wasn't what we wanted. We had to make alternative arrangements or we be disappointed. I took the trouble to book via Open Table, received a confirmation email so am very angry. I suggest you ensure your system is checked and up to date. I won't be using your booking system again.
Food and ambeance good. service was not great had to chase drinks up twice and restaurant was quiet
Food and environment excellent. Service was slow. 25 minutes between starter and main course
Quiet, good for conversation. Lasagne was very oily but carbonara was very good.
We had a first class pasta meal. We don't eat a lot so wanted only one course and the waitress did not try to persuade us otherwise, which was good. The waitress was friendly and helpful, very cheerful. The pasta was as good as we usually get in Italy; who can say more?
Was not impressed with the butterfly chicken ! Very small portion could count 6 chips smallest chicken breast I have seen!
Had to ask for vegetables and more chips
Waitdress agreeed not worth 14+ pound for that!
7 pound for a glass of wine!
Will not be going again!
The food was excellent, my wife had the steak and I had a pizza both perfect accompanied with a bottle of pinot . Will definitely eat here again if we ever stop at holiday inn scotch corner again.
Excellent stopover on visit to Scotland from Essex, very pleasant, helpful staff.
Nice ambiance with good food. Used tastecard so good value. Service slow on both occasions and kitchen obviously fails to advise waiting staff when menu items run out.
Welcome arrival and quickly seated. Restaurant is really nicely decorated and laid out. Drinks order taken immediately and a good explanation of the menu. Awaited quite some time before the starters arrived, which were beautifully presented and very tasty. Then we had a half hour wait before the mains arrived. Again, very nice food. On completion another long wait before the table was cleared. Waited 10 mins for the menus and then had to chase for someone to take the order. 15 minutes later (the restaurant now almost empty) out came the deserts. We didn't bother with Coffee. The whole experience took over 2 hours. On asking for the bill, it was incorrect but swiftly rectified.
Impossible to give review. Hotel had closed the Restaurant that evening at short notice because of lack of bookings. We ate in the hotel lounge instead, but that lacked the atmosphere of being in a restaurant. A bit disappointing.
I booked Fratellos online for a relatives get together Christmas meeting. Received confirmation. One party travelled from Carlisle and the other from York. On arrival we were told Fratellos was booked out to a conference meal and we could neat in the bar. Food was OK but after that very dissapointed not to have been advised and will not be returning.
Our table was booked and on arrival we were told it wasn’t available and we had been allocated a table in the bar area. We were a party of four all who had traveled 20 miles per couple and when we ordered our food three out of the four choices were not available.
We made a second choice to fit in with what was available, although the food quality was of a good standard it was a second choice.
We felt that the service was a little sparse as there was no attempt to find if we wanted desert of coffees.
We spoke to the duty manager and we were given a complimentary drink, and when we made our way out to Pay he did confirm that he would give a further 50% reduction due to the difficulties experienced during the evening.
He did take my wife’s email address to send a voucher to this day this has yet to materialise.
So on the whole not a very good experience this was our first visit and it may well be the only one.
Very friendly reception, great service, excellent food....and we got to use our Tastecard on a Saturday evening!
Food was lovely as always, service was however very slow.table booked for 1930 and was getting our starters till gone 2020. Apart from that waiter was lovely and very apologetic.would still return for more food.
Booked because of location and attended without great expectations. However very welcoming and friendly staff, faultless food and very good value - we shall return !
We were looking forward to our meal here because of a previous enjoyable meal at Fratellos in Newcastle airport. We ordered a bottle of sparkling water while we studied the menu. A bottle of still water came with two odd sized glasses and a piece of lemon in one! About ten minutes later the waitress came back and rectified the problem. We ordered a starter to share of a platter of olives , hummus, artichokes and music bread. After waiting 40 minutes for a cold starter we alerted the waitress. We had obviously been forgotten because it was brought out immediately. The second we had finished our starter, our mains arrived, which I think is very poor restaurant service. The pizzas were of good quality but the oil used to dress the salad was unpalatable. All in all, a poor experience and disappointing after our previous delicious meal in Newcastle.
I have eaten in Fratello's at the Holiday Inn Scotch Corner many times and it has been the attraction of Fratello's that is one of the main reasons why I have chosen to use this hotel in the past. However this week's experiences have not been as good as previous visits, the restaurant has been quite busy this week (a good thing) but the service has suffered. This is not just because they were busy but also because of the attitude of some of the staff who came across as being unfriendly. It also seems a bit odd that a 'cooked to order' pizza is delivered to the table before a glass of wine that was ordered at the same time. There was one particular chap who stood out from the rest because of his cheerful and helpful approach, but unfortunately he appeared to be working in the bar area and only came into the restaurant occasionally.
Had a lovely birthday meal with my boyfriend staff were great
I like Fratello's at the Holiday Inn Scotch Corner because it is a little different from a lot of other hotel restaurants. In my experience the food is always very good and for a hotel restaurant it is sensibly priced.
My husband and I ordered pizza. It was cold when it arrived and there wasn't much of a topping. The tiramisu was awful. Sainsburys do a much better version and I would even rather have Aldi tiramisu than from the restaurant. Not a great experience.
We were staying at a Travelodge nearby & they recommend this restaurant. Freshly cooked food & friendly serving staff. We could've eaten cheaper elsewhere but would not have had the quality.
Booked online, which was confirmed by email. Traveled 40 miles from Newcastle to arrive and find restaurant was closed (apparently for a month) but there was no indication of this on the website. Were given an alternative meal in the hotel bar but this was not the Italian meal we were expecting
Good food served cheerfully. Good sized portions. Pity no pan score.
Absolutely beautiful food, will definitely be returning.
My daughter and I and grandchildren had the Sunday carvery at this restaurant and really enjoyed it. The meat was tender and a good selection of fresh vegetables to choose from. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely go again.
Ate here with a group of 9 after a drink in the adjacent hotel bar. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Menu was varied and interesting. Food was well presented and tasted great. A very enjoyable evening with a good ambience and decor.
Ate here on good Friday. Food was good and reasonably priced for a hotel. Would definitely eat here again,
Food very good and staff helpful and friendly. We had to wait for our meals but this was resolved quickly and efficiently and would not deter us from returning or recommending it to our friends and family.
Myself and my partner have been to fratello's several times now and it's always perfect. Great food with brilliant prices and excellent service
Our Sunday lunch was excellent and well presented, also the waitress was very pleasant and her service good.
Starters - we all ordered starters and 5 of the 6 came out and by the time the final starter came out we had finished our starter.
Main Course - Again with the main course 5/6 came out and we had to wait for the final main course to come out. We all ordered the same main course.
Dessert - 2 of my daughters ordered sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. The order came out as sticky toffee pudding and cream. After advising the waitress it took ages for ice cream to come out and as such the sticky toffee pudding had to be returned as it has gone cold.
We also has to wait a long time between each course.
Having stayed at the Holiday Inn and also eating in the restaurant on numerous occasions I normally cannot fault the staff or food but on this visit was disappointed. I appreciate that it was very busy on Sunday and perhaps more staff should have been working.
The Speciality here is their Sweet Potato fries with much salt to taste. I compare this venu to an American Diner. Not much Italian.
We really enjoyed our meal and the friendly atmosphere, helped by the excellent staff and would come again in a larger group. The food was very tasty, bit one of the pizza bases was almost as thin as a poppadom whilst the other was just about right. However we did both then suffer from an upset stomach which we can only attribute to the joint antipasti and garlic pizza/bread starter we had, but despite this we will visit again.
