As well as two large dining areas, Frederick's has two private rooms and a secluded Garden for al fresco dining.
Frederick's also holds a marriage license.
Dining in Fredericks is always a great experience. Has a real feeling of space while maintaining a good atmosphere.
The three course set menu was ideal for the two of us - uncomplicated and tasty fair, portions right, service not rushed, conservatory was full but tables are well spaced so calm ambience to talk, and the Viognier was good too!
Front of house guy could be a bit friendlier!
Table service and food excellent.
Great experience again for a family celebration- thank you to all the staff
Frederick's is perfect for the family get together - great food and service, not to mention the possibility of great cocktails too.
Fantastic food and even better service !
I've been visiting Frederick's for 25 years and this visit did nothing to persuade me to stop going. I love this place; great atmosphere, amazing service and wonderful food. What's not to love.
Frederick's is my favourite restuarant in North London. Amazing service, great food. A real treat. Staff are warm, friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back
Excellent pretheatre menu and food. First time here and plan to come back. Good service and value for money. Art works lovely. Tables not too close together.
Good atmosphere, good food and price.
We are regulars
Interesting menu with plenty that piqued my interest, all executed very well.
Excellent as ever. My favourite Islington restaurant. Food delicious and service impeccable.
Very friendly and professional staff serving wonderfully presented food which was delicious.
Very helpful and friendly staff complemented by delicious food and a good value lunch set.
Very much the place to enjoy a fabulous meal with ambience and great service!!!!!
Love it here! Great value lunch time menu and the outside gardens make you feel well away from the dirt and bustle of London. It’s like being on holiday in the middle of a working day. And the food is brilliant . And the staff very helpful, friendly and thoughtful. Overall a terrific place.
This is still a great Islington staple. The food and service is always of the highest standard. People often say to me Fredericks is my favourite restaurant, you can see why.
The conservatory was boiling hot on a January evening and felt stuffy. Service was erratic but polished when someone did eventually attend. The sommelier was excellent. Both our meat dishes were totally overcooked. We sent one back and endured the other meaning that we ate our anniversary dinner apart. The broccoli side arrived stone cold but the French beans were lovely. We didn’t bother with dessert. This was our fourth time here and our meal has been a little bit worse each time. It feels like complacency and a lack of attention to detail are creeping into every corner of this Upper Street institution and we, personally, will never be back.
Great experience. Intimate dining but vibrant surroundings. Service was impeccable and remembered my request to add a birthday wish to my friends dessert which was lovely. Food was delicious. I’d defiantly go back again and again.
Frederick's is delightful spatially; attractive rooms with well-spaced tables and a good meeting place to be able to converse comfortably. Unfortunately neither food nor service matched the ambiance. The food is overpriced - my dish of "slow cooked shoulder of lamb" grotesquely so, at £23 for three tiny, medallion sized, slices of boiled lamb on a small heap of plain mashed potatoes lying in thin gravy, with frozen peas as garnish. As the joke goes, terrible food and so little of it. As for service, the disagreeable young wine waiter interrupted our conversation, asking me for my choice of wine whilst I was speaking. The wine list itself is extensive, but with a 400% mark-up. That is greedy.
The breaded squid with chilli sauce was delicious. The bread and butter pudding did not disappoint. Attentive staff, our table was in the main restaurant temperature was comfortable and we looked onto the garden with mature trees. Good space between tables and easy to have a good conversation.
I have been to Frederick’s several times and wanted to introduce two of my friends to it. We had the lunch menu and were in the conservatory. Excellent value. We all had different meals and every one was delicious. First rate service. The only downside was the noise level from the general chatter. This didn’t spoil the occasion but it was difficult to have an easy conversation. However, we will certainly be back.
We enjoyed the set lunch. The food was delicious, portion size was perfect for lunch. The service was good and made for a relaxing occasion.
Excellent Service, Fantastic food and the Noise level perfect. A firm family favourite
Excellent as always. Would have been nice to be in the main restaurant, but not a big deal. Wine waiter always good value.
Loved everything about it. Fabulous food, lovely space, impeccable service. 😊
Great buzz on a Friday night in the restaurant but the service was patchy at best. No one asked us if we wanted a pre-dinner drink and it took ages for us to give our order. The sommelier was not very helpful, he didn’t make any useful suggestions and for some reason assumed we had zero knowledge and experience of wine (describing what red burgundy tasted like as if it were something exotic that we we couldn’t have possibly come across ... actually he didn’t make it sound exotic, he described it as “thin and strawberryish”). The food was mixed. My wife’s dressed crab was more like crab mayo, the main courses (lamb shoulder and duck) were good, my banana and toffee creme brûlée was sweet, sickly and quite unpleasant. When we left the restaurant manager gave us a warm thank you, a level of charm and hospitality that had been lacking for the rest of the evening. We order two glasses of White wine and champagne. Both were too warm and the cheap champagne flutes didn’t do the champagne any favours. The restaurant need to invest in better glassware given its prices and pretensions.
Frederick's has had a special place in my heart since my first meal there in the '80s. Always feels like a special occasion.
This is great “higher class” dining but at a really reasonable price. The atmosphere is relaxed but classy and the staff are very friendly. The lunch/early dinner menu option is very good value. We go there for date night, special occasions or just because! So many dishes are amazing (scallops entree and the chocolate fondant dessert are particular favourites).
Super spot for lunch as light and airy. Fab food, an institution
A neighbourhood restaurant with a touch of class. It never lets you down. Again, we had an excellent meal in a civilised setting.
Lovely lunch, good service nice atmophere and lovely wine.
Loved loved looooved it! We went there for my boyfriend's birthday dinner and were blown away by the ambiance (completely not what you'd expect from the outside, very contemporary and sleek) and the service (everyone was incredibly helpful and nice) and the food. We had the duck and the lamb, respectively, and found both dishes to be cooked to perfection, well seasoned and quite generous portions. The place was quite quiet, which is hard to get on a Saturday night, so we were able to have a nice conversation too. Top marks!
Not surprising this was a 5 star experience as Fredericks has been going 50 years as a family concern. This was my first visit back after 10 years and the whole experience was as wonderful as ever and the service remains top notch.
Best value set menu in London
I have to say I had one of the best meals in a long time at Frederick's.
Totally enjoyable from start to finish.
Great food; welcoming staff and atmosphere just right.
I’m a fairly regular at Frederick’s over the past 18 years but never get any recognition from front of house. Last night the service was slow, the food not up to standard and left me unexcited about ever returning to this once top of my list restaurant
We told the waiter we had a time constraint to get to Sadlers Wells and we received very efficient and prompt service
This is an excellent restaurant for lunch. It serves good food, is great value and has well spaced tables. When I have eaten at Frederick’s previously and been seated in the main room which has a really good ambience. On this occasion I was seated in the adjoining room which was not quite as pleasant and the service not as attentive.
Ideal for pre theatre meal and by eating early a 2/3 course meal is a a reasonable price
