Frenchie Covent Garden
Greg considers London his second home after having spent several long periods in the capital cooking at the Savoy, Mandarin Oriental and Fifteen, where the kitchen nickname "Frenchie" stuck. The menu at Frenchie Covent Garden will echoes its Parisian counterpart with simple yet precise dishes heavily influenced by Greg's travels - London, New York, Spain and Hong Kong. It will also host an ever-changing, carefully selected wine and seasonal cocktail list.
Excellent, tasty food. Totally worth it.
well run quality restaurant
Went for anniversary dinner. The service was great. The food is also great. It’s well executed and it isn’t overly pretentious; it’s only complicated when it needs to be. The wine selection is out of the ordinary, which is also a welcome surprise (number of small producers, uncommon terroirs and organic/biodynamic labels).
The atmosphere is really casual/informal - nothing wrong with it, just setting expectations.
Definitely on the pricey side, but overall good food and service.
Fantastic lunch. I loved the venue, the food and especially the staff. They were warm, knowledgeable and welcoming. I highly recommend Frenchie and can't wait to return .
Food exceptional and stunning value on the set menu
Wine list comprehensive and well priced
Service erratic and awkward - wait team I’ll prepared and simply didn’t listen. For this quality of restaurant more work needed on front of house service!
Service too fast; plates were there even before we had the wine....
We have been anticipating on Visiting the London location of Frenchie.....
Very good experience, execution was stellar, Service is timely and the atmosphere is uplifting
Go to lunch spot when in London
Something need to be done about the noises as it’s too high for a romantic nights ;-)
Two appetizers, two salad/vegetable dishes, and two main courses were all outstanding, some of the best food we've every had. The wine list was very good. The only bad course was dessert: a dismal strawberry mille-feuille with only 3 cardboard-like layers of pastry.
Frenchie Covent Garden should be your first choice in London. What an exceptional dining experience Mr. Marchand has created with an amazing group of people.
I had the pleasure of dining there two times within a week or so while spending time in London. Having spent a month in Paris I was looking forward to finding a wonderful recollection of my time in France. Frenchie Covent Garden was even more than a what I could have expected. This is not a French brasserie, it’s French but it’s decidedly London.
The food is incredible of course. The culinary team executes at the highest level. Having said that, I believe the best compliment goes to the front of house staff and in particular Anais at the bar and Julie on the floor. They both were welcoming, knowledgeable and provided just the right amount of companionship to my visits - once for lunch with a friend, the second time alone. I also witnessed them deftly do the same with others as well. It’s rare to find a place that is so warm and also so expert in its ethos. I cannot wait to return!
I was very excited to have a dinner at Frenchie, but it turned out to be one of the most disappointing dinning experience. I arrived 5.45pm and restaurant was almost empty, the reception girl took me to a high bar table straight she said i didn't choose dinning table when i made my booking, however, this was Not my mistake - there is no such booking choice on Opentable website, this is something Frenchi needs sort out with Opentable, don't blame customer! Then she said someone called me to confirm table choice but i didn't pick up my phone, i showed her my phone there was no message left Frenchie at all. I still insisted i need a proper dinning table, initially she said she could arrange one but we had to return table before 7pm, i said No; then she looked around the empty restaurant and found a table, said something blah blah... sounded like she did a huge favour for us to arrange a dinning table. We finished dinner at 8.30pm and guess what there were at least 4 tables available at that point! - I still cannot figure out why she did not want us to have a proper dinner table initially. Second, we asked for simple hot water for drink, they provided the water plus 2 small pieces of lemon skin and charged 2.50 for each water! I always ask for hot water at other fine restaurants and this was my very first time get charged for having hot water, although they just charged one cup at the end after we raised the question. I have been dining at fine restaurants around globe, i have to be honest - the food was good but not impressive, the whole dinning experience is way too average. To me, Frechie is just a been there, done that and tick the box place.
We are so happy because we have visited Frenchie and we discovered that they are Michelin 2019! Congrats! Excellent ambient and kindness as always!
Thank YOU for recognise as frequent clients.
Lovely place will def go back next time in london
Nice cozy restaurant with good food, good for pre-theatre meal, but would be a bit too simple for a romantic dinner.
It was amazing!!! My fiancé and I love this restaurant very much. Amazing food and services. Would go back again which I did by myself on Sunday night😘
our Lunch on Sunday went very very well!
Manfredi (Italian waiter) and July (head sommelier) took care of us and we felt like we were at home and bit more! Oustanding food and service! I recommend anyone wishing have a good meal around a sometimes much touristic Covent Garden!
Absolutely delicious food! The restaurant has a lovely, bright and relaxed atmosphere and the staff are charming. It’s an absolute delight - the tables downstairs are placed in front of the kitchen, which makes for a more vibrant dining experience but it’s really much nicer to sit upstairs in the main restaurant.
Well it’s certainly French!! Good warm welcome nice short menu but good range of choice. Nice wine list mainly unknown wines! Food was very good. Most enjoyable will be back.
Went to Frenchie with a friend after work and had a lovely dinner. Sat in the downstairs area beside the kitchen which provided an interesting perspective on the meal. The food was really good as was the service however I felt the menu was quite small.
Great experience as always - great place to go if travelling alone as staff is engaging and chatty
Really great and a very enjoyable bar counter
We love Frenchie. We come here whenever we are in London. It is always a lovely experience. I highly recommend sitting downstairs where the Kitchen is. It's nice to be part of the action. Upstairs gets way too busy, downstairs is more intimate and cozy. The food is delicious, impeccably prepared with fresh ingredients to boot. The menu always changes and we love their interesting, fresh takes on dishes. It's never boring. Also, Lunch is a great time to go as they offer good value prix fixe options.
Food not as good as the first time I went a few years ago. Nice ambience though. They don’t kick you out after 2 hours like most places do these days which was very nice.
Food was absolutely exquisite. Service was very prompt and friendly. The bacon scones were a real highlight, as were the liver parfait and the carpaccio.
Loved the food - innovative, full of flavour and good sized portions. Not cheap, but worth it for a special occasion. Will go back.
I popped in for a quick meal at the bar - two small starter plates which were small but perfectly formed and delicious. A glass of wine to accompany them and I was in and out in 45 minutes!
GREAT find! Cozy neighborhood feel with incredibly beautiful food. Very accommodating for our gluten free needs and picky teenager. The gnocci and the fish dishes were our favorites. Highly recommend this gem!
Great family lunch
You contributed to my Mother’s Day celebrations!!
Lovely place. Me and my sister really enjoyed the food. And it was a great value for pre-theatre food.
Very much enjoyed the three courses menu before going to the theatre.
Food very tasty.
Lovely modern decor.
The two desserts on the set menu were very clever and yummy!!
Couldn’t fault it. Beautiful tasty food, great service and extensive wine list. Will be back.
I am not used to write a complaint , but to be honest you deserved. We came for a lunch the 14th of March and we were so excited to dine to your restaurant. Regrettably the whole experience has been ruined from your staff from the moment we walk in. The service was very appalling and the staff was very unprofessional and unhelpful. We asked to sat to a different table and it was denied as the server said” this is the table allocated for you”...I have asked to move table and indicate a table, and guess what??? The request was denied and later on I saw staff seating on the table request. What a bad customer care!! I ordered a bottle of wine and then left to the toilet. Once back to the table I found the bottle of wine open, maybe the waiter thought that he did not have to wait for me as for him it was just an house wine...little bit to offensive.
We were eating without know what is in the plate and nobody asked how was our experience. The food was good enough however could taste better.
The experience overall was really bad and the staff make us feel not important for them.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!
Really special food - very happy.
Ate here pre-theatre off the set menu. The lady on the door seemed to be having a bad evening, which was a pity, but once inside everything else was perfect. Lovely ambience, excellent food and very good waiter. It was my first visit here and will definitely return. Have already recommended it to friends.
Stunning night. Fantastic service, they went through all the modifications they could make to accommodate us being vegetarian which was really lovely. We had the veg tasting menu which was superb. Sommelier was really helpful. Wonderful meal!
What a delightful find! Not somewhere for a cheap lunch (especially if you're going to add a bottle of wine...) but the food was delicious, service was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Perfect for a catch-up with a friend.
Always a pleasant experience at Frenchie. Pre-theatre menu is limited but it works well for those heading off 7 - 7.15. Starters better than mains on our most recent visit. Service is good if hovering a little in the less busy early sittings. Great cocktail and wine menu.
Wonderful, wonderful experience!
