Haven’t been to Gauchos for a few years but it didn’t fail to impressed. Great menu and very good service. Steak very tasty and recommendations were spot on
My wife, daughter and I have been going to Gauchos Canary Wharf for many years and will continue to do so for many years to come. At this time of the year in particular it is lovely to sit outside looking over the River Thames while enjoying high quality, uncomplicated food expertly prepared and cooked.
Disappointing. I regularly dine at Hawksmoore but we were intending to be in Canary Wharf and I had heard that the chains were comparable. They're not. Far from it. The pricing is. £500 for 5 people that included 2 bottles of wine and a couple of ports with dessert but other than that no. Firstly the steak quality is lower. The Rump was £30 and it was mediocre at best. The Marinated lomo at £50 was like a pan fried steak from Tesco. Terrible quality. The Chateaubriand was £87.50 for 750g and it was passable but nothing like the level of Hawkesmoore for example. All in disappointing mains and the softshell crab started was nothing short of a rip-off. 95% salad and literally a piece of crab not much bigger than a teaspoon for £10. Poor preparation, poor quality and passible service (12.5% on the bill) does not make for a happy customer. I'll be sticking to Hawkesmoore from now on. The one good thing about the whole meal was the wines. Very good and I enjoyed those.
Took my boyfriend for his 30th birthday and couldn’t have picked a better restaurant.. we had a table outside under the trees which was perfect for a warm evening.. our waiter (Mat) was brilliant and explained all of the cuts of steak during the meat display and couldn’t have been more helpful.. steak was cooked perfectly and boyfriend said it was the best steak he’d ever had.. all in all an amazing experience if you’re looking for something that bit more special
My husband and I visited the restaurant for a dinner on Saturday and it could have been more perfect. We got the choice to sit down outside and it was really lovely, we had an amazing table under the trees in the sun, watching the riverfront. Food was so delicious and service was amazing. Would recommend to everyone. Thank you so much
The steak wasn't the best this time, the fillet was stringy.
Amazing staff and food! Very polite and welcoming also know a lot about the food you are ordering.
Exceptional customer service and yummy food. We were sitting outside because it was warm and lovely. Chris and Francesco served us and was excellent experience. Thank you
Amazing. This is my second visit and the food lived up to the first visit.
The stake were cooked to our individual liking and seasoned perfectly.
The staff couldn’t have been more attentive or professional, they welcomed us back and even told us what wine we had previously and would we like that or to try something different?
Never encountered that before but is a nice personal touch.
We celebrated my brothers birthday and he was treated to complementary chocolate truffles which where divine
The atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday afternoon and the background music didn’t impede conversation at all
I’m afraid to say that the hard sell from the miserable waitress with the water ,wine and meat etc just took the edge off the occasion and the 139 quid bill for a quick steak and chips ( plus 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine) rather ruined the evening. I’d forgotten how greedy these restaurants are with the extras when they really don’t need to be.
Goodbye Groucho it’s a steak from the local butcher next time and I’ll find a pub for a drink next time I’m in Canary Wharf
Impressed with the knowledge of our waiter, special cut delicious and the wine from Mendoza a delight!
Great food that can be enjoyed especially well outdoors by the river.
My colleagues enjoyed their choices from the menu but as a non red meat eater myself I found the alternative choices very few. I had the tuna steak as my main which was utterly tasteless. I did not enjoy my meal at all
Loved it especially as we went in Malbec week and had the flight of wines.
Welcoming was less than warm and friendly but was efficient. We ordered off the a la carte menu not brunch as everyone else seemed to be having (rather affected the atmosphere surround by all you can drink and eat brunch goers- good on them but not what we wanted that day). Ordered food no problem but was told the main was not available after the waitress had put it through, she was very apologetic, not an issue. But then the issues started, starters then arrived straight away (as I was ordering my main!) , followed by bread (seemed to be the wrong order of service) and felt rushed. Mains arrived within 5 minutes of mains being cleared (again felt rushed). All in all it felt like were were being served a business lunch 2 courses and a bottle of wine in 1 hour. We topped up our own wine mostly and salt and pepper pots were really dirty. Nice food but for £200 with the service and being rushed out, couldn’t say it was good value for money.
It was my boyfriends 21st birthday, we both dearly enjoyed every minute. Christina was our waitress and she was lovely and really helpful. Thank you very much.
Warm evening - great eating outside. Bit disorganised with drinks when we moved to the table.
Fabulous food and amazing cocktails. We had a great lunch here, steak was delicious!
very welcoming staff and nothing to much for them. Food very good and would recommend it for all occassions.
Super food and attentive staff as always - but must pay more attention to the restrooms, ladies always seem like something is not working or broken
Came from Ipswich for day and night in london .this was my 2nd time of eating here and absolutely fabulous. Excellent food and service definitely recommend
Had a great meal in the Restaurant for my wife's 50th birthday. What mad it really special was that once we had paid and left the restaurant the head waiter came outside and asked if it was her birthday. Once he know he gave us complimentary Champaign and truffles followed by coffee's. When we eventually got up to leave our waiter then came out and thanked us for dining with them this evening. This was totally unexpected and was the icing on the cake to what was a great evening.
Gaucho always deliver for good steak. This branch is great in summer as it sits on the waterside. Always ask for extra cheese bread for the starter!
Amazing food and service as always.
Have to admit very underwhelmed, steak was greasy and left half which waiter ignored, mac & cheese tasteless, generally ok sides, very nice dessert, however with no starters/wine a shamed dessert, couple beers at £138 was it worth it? Not really...we came defacto as Goodmans was full, Gaucho was half empty and to be honest see why.
To us it lost its way, whee others have left it standing, Hawksmoor...Goodmans etc;
Lovely friendly staff. Good food. Loved it. Our waiter was patient and attentive. My husbands dessert plate had happy birthday drawn in it. I only hinted it was my Husband’s birthday when I booked online.
Was excellent steak starters not a normal sort of choice but glad as main meal was so filling and wouldn’t have wanted to leave any
Service was brillent only down fall was drinks are very expensive
Came here for a date night on Friday evening with my husband, We thought the food was very delicious and service was 5*.
We will definitely be coming back.
Mateo was an amazing host. The drinks were delightful. The sausages were excellent, the empanadas very authentic and the beef cuts superb and perfectly cooked.... We will definitely visit again
Great burgers. Shame they can't source local meat and serve medium rare. Nobody cares if it's Argentinan meat for a burger. Beer selection by bottle is limited and you don't see what you drink as it's served in a glass.
Beautiful location, decor and most importantly food! Was exactly what I asked for and the service was perfect.
Lovely food and excellent service from the staff! The steak was amazing and my boyfriwnd was pleased about the plave and how the staff look after us!
Steaks were great, everything perfect except the oven like chips!
The 30£ 3 course offer is only after 9pm and was not advertised so in the description.
We had a great time. We were late and I called ahead and they said they could still fit us in, despite being busy. Waiter was attentive and food was superb.
We enjoyed Sunday Lunch here on Mothers Day. The atmosphere was brilliant and the service was great. I look forward to returning again soon.
From the moment we walked down the steps with the thames in front of us I knew it was going to be a good experience. The outside of the restaurant looked very cosmopolitan and classy.
I took my mum and son there for mothers day lunch. She loved the decor, the ambience and the fantastic service we received. Thiago (sorry if i spelt it wrong) was very attentive and the staff were all really pleasant, smiling and very polite. Our steaks were a little under cooked for my mum so thiago was more than happy to send it back to cook a little longer. He also took my sons steak and kept it warm so that we could all eat together (nice touch I thought). Free arrival drink for the ladies as well. The meal was very expensive at least to me, but I am tight! But having said that it was fantastic food and everything was perfect. My mum said its the best restaurant she has ever been to and she's 77 so thats a great compliment. Well done Gaucho you certainly made her day, she is still gushing about it now. Just sad I didnt take any photos!
It was fantastic service from when me and my friend walked in. Food was amazing & drinks were refreshing
really lovely staff, food was incredible and cocktails were gorgeous. setting was lovely however quite hot so the waiter took the liberty to put the AC on. will come back again 100% :)
Third time there, and absolutely love it. The best steaks you can have anywhere.
