Proudly situated in the Hampstead Village community, with its quaint alleyways and perfectly preserved Georgian buildings, Gaucho Hampstead is a neighbourhood retreat in North London.
A stone’s throw from Hampstead Heath, our welcoming and contemporary interiors are the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed lunch, an after school treat or you can join us with the whole family on a Sunday for one of our legendary roasts.
One of our favourite features of the restaurant is our stunning, courtyard terrace with a traditional ‘Asado’ fire pit – where we barbeque in the summer and snuggle with blankets in the winter.
For all you Hampstead dog walkers, four-legged friends are always welcome for when you are snout and about.
The best staff
Excellent food and service especially from Dalton
My mistake going here for vegetarian/vegan food. Ofcourse this is an Argentinian Steak house but the menu boasted many vegan options and more so than most places in the area so i thought id give it a go. The staff were rude when it came to our dietary requests and overcharged for simple extras. £17 for a small plate of spinach.. £15 for a small plate of asparagus . Guess they just didnt want us back but still very disappointing behaviour from a place with such taste and decor. The man who led us to our table was very well mannered and accommodating but everyone else were simply rude and obnoxious to our meat free disposition. I will not be returning. We had a £170 bill for 2 rissoto, 1 aubergine bake, 3 small starters a side of spinach and asparagus, carafe of house wine and two bottle beers. If this is normal I stand corrected but the food did not even taste good so i suggest you take away your vegan friendly motto as this you are not
As usual Gaucho never disappoints for quality of the food and the service. Pricey, but then that's why the standard is consistently high.
As excellent as always.
Been to the one in Picadilly circus multiple times. I was worried the hampstead one would be smaller, but once inside you can easily forget where you are!
And quieter so more pleasant!
Fillet steak is amazing. Cooked perfectly to our requirements. My husband doesn't eat beef and was a bit disappointed with the new style chicken and also missed the fat chips option. Best bread rolls too.
Excellent service....especially from Dalton
Will be back again!
Steak undercooked - nothing done about it, music over speakers in restaurant to loud to converse.
Fantastic service. Great food! Will be back again.
Dear Pawel, Thank you for your great feedback!! Glad you liked our new spring menu, and very pleased to see you enjoyed last Saturday. Looking forward having you back!
Very nice ambiance, friendly staff.
The food is a bit overpriced. I enjoyed my starter and desert but the main meal (ribeye steak) wasn’t special.
Gaucho has reduced its menu, and we were slightly disappointed to find that certain starters and sauces had changed. The meat is as good as ever fortunately. The service is attentive, and friendly. We had to ask for our favourite bread balls which used to come a volonté as standard, with a fiery chimichurri sauce which has now morphed into a very bland herb butter. Sides like spinach and mac & cheese were a little underwhelming too. It seemed pretty full but I simply believe the restaurant isn't trying hard enough. It used to be much better and a real competitor for the likes of Goodman, Hawksmoor, etc. If and when that spirit returns, we will, too.
The place is good fiod us great but no side dishes bit disappointed on the request that haven’t done
Very friendly and welcoming staff, chic layout and comfy chairs. The food was very tasty (steak and chips were excellent). Would like more vegetarian options for variety. Definitely will go back.
seats uncomfortable noisy party near us, food just ok and very pricey.
Was fine. The place feels a bit dated.
Great meal, disappointed that contrary to website their brunch was not available but the food was flavorful, well cooked meat, crafty desserts 👍
If you want a truly good steak, then this is the place. The steaks are cooked to perfection and the quality of the cuts great. We have been to Gaucho several times and have not been disappointed. The atmosphere is buzzy and the service efficient. Don't know about the non-steak options because why would you want to try them at Gaucho? it is pricey - so if you want a steak for a special occasion then this is the place.
We used to love Gaucho Hampstead but the menu and quality of the food since the ownership is really disappointing. I think it’s had it’s day. Overdone burger, tasteless steak. Staff trying too hard to upsell. Expensive meal and quite frankly could have made a better steak at home at a fraction of the cost. Sad as it used to be such a treat....
Value for money! It is one of my favourites restaurants in town. Food is great, staff is well trained and gentle, ambience is cosy, decent wine list, the manager is very friendly and attentive, location couldn't be better. I really like it!
8 of us went to Gauch’s for dinner and had an amazing evenig. Food was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely go back
Fillet steak were very ordinary
Food was beautiful, waiter was friendly and professional, good service and great atmosphere! Would recommend.
We often go this place and always have great meals - steaks are cooked just about right with well prepared sides. Also not only kids friendly, they are all seriously nice staff.
Very good food and service. Lunchtime very empty. Highly recommended
Lovely - hit the spot!
As a vegetarian it’s the only steak restaurant I will go to as it has good options and the food was Delicious from start to finish! I went with three meet eaters who raves about their steaks.
The knowledge of wine was exceptional. The welcome was exceptional and so was the food.
I am a huge lover of gauchos but even more so after my experience at the Hampstead branch.
Lovely warm welcome upon arrival.
Perfect setting for our Valentine’s Day dinner.
Unfortunately let down by the customer service of the waiter that served us. No eye contact, didn’t ask how our meal was, even though he asked the couple next to us, took a long time to clear away our plates. Seemed to be disgruntlement with us for some reason. I asked if I could have sweet potato instead of chips with my meal and got a blunt no, that’s how the meal comes.
Such a shame!
The mains arrived before the starters. The same steaks were then returned after we had the starters. We sent one back. The order was recooked. Disappointed in the food. Waiter was excellent.
overall it was a great evening. It did take almost an hour before we had out starter. the table next to us who did not have a starter, came later than us but still had their main before our starter...
Great service. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Food taste good but over priced.
We have been to Gaucho multiple times and it is usually great. At Valentine’s Day, the steak was terribly over cooked (burnt) and tough. Service was fine. Waitress lacked warmth and friendliness.
Fantastic meal. Steaks were perfect and I’d definitely recommend one of the marinated fillets. Will be coming back!
Great food and service! I love coming to Gaucho and the set menu is very reasonable.
The steak came back raw two times and the manager was extremely rude and condescending when I made a complaint. Will never go back again! Terrible service and evening.
A bit to try hard on the service and a fail on recognising my discount although they gave it in the end, a good night with great cocktails
We visited last September & had a great night. This time the service was really poor. The waiter was not attentive, maybe because the restaurant was understaffed but the female manager sat down with guests on the table next to ours for some 20 minutes with guests, ignoring her staff’s requests for help. Her behaviour was really unprofessional & impacted on the service that evening. The food was good overall but the attention to detail was lacking on this visit which led to a disappointing visit..
Fantastic food, service and a brilliant evening. Highly recommend.
Overpriced for the quality of the food and at a local restaurant. Food Ok but could have this quality of food at other restaurants at half the price. The wine list was really expensive the cheapest bottle at £25 which was not a particularly good wine. Place almost empty and I am not surprised.
