Great food great atmosphere great service - great evening
A really great experience from beginning to end
Fantastic steaks and great service, a really enjoyable meal
Amazing food. Got the early menu as great value at £24
We were warmly welcomed and shown straight to our seat by the front of house. The waitress arrived before i had taken my coat off with examples of the steak cuts. She explained how each cut differed in taste and texture and how each is best cooked. She left for 2 mins and was back again exclaiming if we wanted the early bird we had to order now. I didn’t really have time to absorb the menu and decide whether we wanted the early bird or something from the la Carte menu. Anyway we hurried and ordered the early bird, a rib eye for me and fillet for my wife, with an emanpande and cerviche starter. We were served complimentary warm bread and the starters arrived quickly, at this point we managed to make a drink order. My wife had a query with one of the spirits in a cocktail she was considering however the waitress was unable to assist and shrugged the question away, my wife decided to order it anyway. The starters were delicious and cleared promptly. The steaks were very nice- my wife had no complaints with her fillet- it was deliciously soft and cooked perfectly medium rare. I felt my ribeye was too salty for my liking. The fries were also salted - I always prefer the opportunity to add your own salt. I ordered the lemon tart for dessert- again it was delicious. We asked the waitress if there was space in the bar to finish our cocktails- she informed us no but there was no rush and we could take our time at the table.
The cow hides, chandeliers and swivel chairs ensure you dine in enjoyable surrounding, the music was slightly too loud and made it difficult to talk At a normal volume.
Overall we really enjoyed our evening. The early bird menu was a good opportunity to try Gaucho at a reasonable price. Our only negative was been abit rushed at the start of the evening. We would definately return and I would ensure I requested no salt.
Incredible steak and an incredibke restaurant. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about all the products and made my sons birthday extra special by bringing a complementary bowl of ice cream. Worth every penny
Excellent all round, thank you. Sunday lunch was exceptional.
Beautiful restaurant and really good food. Was recommended bars for afterwards by two waiters. Excellent recommendations. Can’t wait to go back and taste the steak again.
Best steak in Yorkshire!
Great food, super service. Lovely way to see in the new year, however, waited far too long to be seated and we didn't get the promised countdown into 2019, so a tad disappointing on that front. Chateaubriand was fabulous.
Fantastic meal on NYE; food faultless; outstanding service; great atmosphere; faultless - 4 happy diners.
The food was amazing as always, steak cooked to perfection and the setting was lovely as always. Service was good however, when we have been previous i have felt more welcomed and been shown the different cuts of meat before we ordered and we didn’t this time. Only a very minor thing and it did not ruin the night, service was great otherwise.
The best steak I have ever tasted. Staff really friendly and the booking system means they know your last order. Thought it a bit big brotherish until I didn’t know the wine I really enjoyed previously and they were able to tell me and offer recommendations. My favourite Leeds restaurant.
We have visited Gaucho on a number of occasions and it never fails to impress. My wife and I are both steak fans and some of the best come out of this kitchen, especially in Leeds.
The menu has been condensed slightly since our last visit which doesn't give quite as much option particularly for the starters.
The food standards and quality are some of the best to be found in Leeds, along with the waiters knowledge of the products they are serving places this restaurant top of the Leeds list!
excellent food and services, recommend for all purposes. Great choice for date or special occasions
Best steaks in Leeds. Great service, fantastic wines
It was good, but based on the price and the fact that there are so many superior eateries charging less of a premium it doesn't cut it
I found my receipt the following day and noted that I'd been charged £3.90 for a bottle of water - I felt tricked by this and like most people when I am offered water, I assume it is tap water.
Unfortunately my steak had far, far too much salt on and the waiter offered to change it but I declined (do not like wasting more product but perhaps I should have really). The Maître de offered to change it also but I declined and he offered me a desert on the house which I accepted. Very good wine list and some great cocktails too. Yes it is an Argentinian Steak house but I thought they could have done more to accommodate my vegetarian wife, for instance the braised (in chicken stock) carrots could not be changed by the chefs to a vegetarian braised carrot (i.e. just boil them and then perhaps sauté in a little butter)...!!!
We had a lovely time, great food and service. Much better than our last visit!
Had the Festive set meal, starter, Main and complimentary drink excellent, bread and butter pudding bland and cold with no cinnamon as stated. Seated quickly but waited ages for somebody to take our order and ask us if we wanted a drink ( we had to ask somebody to check we hadn’t been forgotten and another couple complained close to us and got a complimentary bottle of wine) asked for chutney and got brown sauce! Which made me chuckle really I mean who has brown sauce with steak!. Eventually paid the bill in cash ( along with a service charge?) and didn’t get the £5 change?. Overall we went for the food and pudding apart we enjoyed it.
Having booked for four people at 21:15, a weaknesses in the OpenTable system means that reducing the number to three isn’t possible without changing the time as well. So having moved us to 3 at 21:30, we still arrived at the quarter, but it took Gauchos ages to seat us.
Consequently we had gins all round, including tonic over my husbands’s knees, before we eventually sat down for dinner, complete with too-loud music blaring. Late as it was we forwent a starter, and ordered one each of rib-eye, sirloin and for me the centre-cut fillet.
Not to say the rib-eye and sirloin were anything less than perfect, but the butterflied tail-end of fillet was excellent, cooked blue it was juicy and tasty and I will suggest it’s a better option than just plain old centre-cut fillet. All were served with fries and a sauce, but an ordered salad didn’t appear.
Aiming for the ‘house’ Patricia Malbec, it turned out they had none left, fortunately they did have the more expensive variety - phew! It’s a great wine, and one day I’ll look forward to comparing the plain and the gold, is it worth an extra £22 I wonder?
With just coffees to finish, the bill hit £219 including 10% pre-added, so not cheap for three steaks and a drink, but I agree with the ‘pay peanuts, get monkeys’ pricing philosophy and Gauchos goes a long way to ensure it delivers quality food at a reassuringly expensive rate.
The waiter really took care of us. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was lovely. Best steakhouse in Leeds.
We visited Gaucho for my husband's birthday. Service was excellent - we were made to feel like valued customers. They were very friendly, welcoming and seemed to get the balance just right of how much attention we needed! It was a lovely touch when when they made a fuss of my husband for his birthday. The food was excellent - the best steak I have ever eaten.
Superb food from very knowledgeable, professional and friendly staff
This is the second Christmas party at this venue. They managed our large group very well and offer a very personal service. Wine list is fantastic as is the food.
Been to gaucho before, love the food. It’s certainly not cheap but you get what you pay for......the best quality food. Waiter allocated to us also was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful.
A Christmas treat for us. We go a few times during the year and it is the only restaurant that we’ve never been disappointed at for food or service.
Wish we lived closer.
Superb steak and waiter was very informative with his recommendations.
Beautiful food, beautiful setting, fantastic service and outstanding meat! So tasty, great atmosphere too... will definitely be returning
The food was lovely as always but the greeting service was a bit disappointing. We arrived at the appointed time and had to wait 20 mins for our table and I had to go and ask when we would be sat down. If it was especially busy I would have understood but it was half empty at the time we arrived so there was no reason that they did not sit us down at the time earlier. Especially as people who arrived after us were sat down straight away. The rest of the service was perfect.
Beautiful interior but terrible service and food was average. We requested halal steaks - only sirloin available. The rest of the menu was mediocre and not worth the price. Would not recommend.
Fabulous from start to finish. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the food was incredible and the ambience is perfect. Will go back again and again.
Great food. Lovely staff. We went for our Christmas day out with family friends and it was very quiet at 4pm. Good early bird menu and good service.
We were celebrating our new daughter in law's birthday and we could not have asked for more. Excellent steaks cooked perfectly and a very knowledgeable server. Relaxed atmosphere and an enjoyable dining experience. Wines are a tad expensive but, hey, you get what you pay for in life. All six of us had a great night out, so what more can you ask?
The service was appalling, we were sat on a table right infront of the kitchen it was absolutely boiling hot so we asked to move and we were moved 1 table up. We ordered and the waitress told us the steaks came with chips and sauce, which they did not. She did however include these which was muchly appreciated. We ordered drinks at the same time we ordered food, the food came, we asked about the drinks 3 times, we then finished eating and a member of staff came and told us that a group of men had drank our drinks as they were waiting on the bar for us, then another member of staff came and told us she had forgotten to put the drinks through at all, which was a different story, and the drinks would be on them. Unfortunately by this time we had finished the food, which was average at best. We all had pepper sauce, one portion was so unbelievably salty it was unedible. All in all, disappointing experience. And we ended up sat in the bar to drink our drink, that finally arrived.
It was very good and I enjoyed it... I will go there again
My wife, son and I had an absolutely fantastic time . The waiter was very very attentive to us all and great fun with my 11 year old son
Rob was our main waiter who was clearly experienced and knowledge was great to hear and make an informed choice for our meals. Following this visit we shall surely return and I encourage everyone to have this experience
Came here on a recommendation from a friend and it was well worth it. Brilliant service from start to finish, our waiter (Rob) was great, first question he asked was ‘had we been before?” And when we answered no, he went on to explain everything we needed to know about the menu and the food and we took him up on his recommendations for both food and wine and there was a great choice of both. The decor and layout is very quirky and it was busy but not too loud. There was a very long cocktail and drinks list and my only complaint is that the drinks were a little pricey, my first cocktail was over £10 and the glass was mainly ice cubes! The bill for our evening for 2 was £185 so not a cheap option for a night out but definitely something we would do again. Overall, had a really lovely evening and worth a visit.
