Lovely food great service
The food is amazing and great value for money. The staff are attentive and professional and go out of their way to please and make you comfortable. I would highly recommend for a great steak go to Gaucho Grill.
Half of our steak was so overcooked we couldn't swallow it, we ordered medium. After pointing that out to the waiter no one came to apologise or offer alternative. Beef empanadas were unavailable and it was only 7pm. Also the menu you see online is not at all available, choice is very small.
Food was really good, best steak I’d had in a while, and we had a very interesting red wine that was an experimental Malbec blend. The initial service was a little slow, we were seated promptly but had to wait well over half an hour before we were seen to, but after that, our waiter was good.
Very disappointed with the quality and cooking of steaks. Fries felt like refried
Food was fine, we had the Friendsmas menu. Disappointed that we had to wait an hour for our main course. Our waiter was lovely and tried his best for us. Christmas pudding was terrible - more like a ginger sponge.
Good evening, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us with a feedback, we deeply appreciate it. We would like to apologize in the name of the team and the staff involved. We are happy to hear our table host tried to help the situation. We hope this instance will not keep you from visiting us again. Kindest regards, Gaucho Piccadilly Management
Lovely food. Very attentive waiters.
Great all round
Good evening RachelS, Thank you for taking the time to give us such a lovely review. We are very happy to hear you had a lovely time. We wish to see you again soon. Kindest regards, Gaucho Piccadilly Management
The chef does not know the medium roast. Meat very salted and not best quality. Price is too high!!!
Good evening NataliaC, Many thanks for taking the time to leave us with a review. We apologize in the name of our team and the chef, and we hope this sole instance will not keep you from visiting us again. We will take your feedback and use it to move forward as a business. Kindest regards, Gaucho Piccadilly Management
First of all I want to say that we did eat our food and we did not complain, although this is mostly down to the fact we spent all day travelling from the north of England and were starving and we aren’t really the type of people to complain as we find it quite embarrassing.
We normally eat at the Birmingham branch of gaucho, which we always find amazing and we always enjoy.
As they are the same chain with an identical menu we assumed that all would be the same in terms of service, food, value for money and generally how enjoyable the night is to be.
First impressions seemed fine, although we walked in having no idea where to go to check in until a lady shouted from behind a table with 4 women closely huddled around it.
We were told to go upstairs, where the man who was there seemed confused as to why we were there even though we were told downstairs he was waiting for us.
The floor we were on was very loud, people shouting, kids running around.
We were introduced to our waitress who’s name was Alexia, who was possibly the only saving grace of the entire night as we was very good, polite and extremely well educated on the food on the menu.
First we ordered cocktails, which again we normally have at the Birmingham branch and are delicious. On this occasion I’m unsure what on earth was going through the persons head who was making them, in short all of the cocktails we had throughout the night (we gave up after ordering three different ones) were horrendous.
Now moving on the to food, I normally go for for the 800G Tira De Ancho rib eye, at £68.00. Which at the price range, you expect to be perfect in my opinion.
The steak arrived, they asked if we were waiting on anything else and we replied just the chips, to which they replied you didn’t order any. Which is correct we didn’t, but haven’t been to several other branches ALL of which come with them for free we kind of expected it to be the same, or at least to make it clear if it isn’t
Food was good, service could have been better, had to ask for salt and pepper, had to ask for sauce it was busy but didn’t feel looked after really.
Good evening Linda, Thank you for taking the time to leave us with a feedback. Rest assured this will be passed on to our team, and we will do better next time. We do hope that this instance will not keep you from visiting us again. We hope to see you soon. Kindest regards, Gaucho Piccadilly Management Team
Went for Sunday Roast. Not as advertised - no unlimited Yorkshires. Not the end of the world, but was definitely something that attracted us to choose Gaucho over other locations. When asked, staff was noncommittal, and never addressed it again. Service in general was lackluster / disinterested. Food was very good. Decor is standard Gaucho - very dark.
Good evening Andy, Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave us with a review. We are very sorry to hear about your experience at Gaucho. These are definitely not the standards that we hold ourselves up to. We do apologize in the name of our team and the people involved, we do hope you will give us a second chance to show our improvements. Looking forward to seeing you dine with us again. Kindest regards, Gaucho Piccadilly Management Team
On arrival was shown to a room, just off the main restaurant, the room was freezing the table was ice cold the cutlery felt like it had been in a fridge, we were the only diners in that room for the majority of our meal and as such there was no ambience or atmosphere at all, we complained about this and they told us they would turn up the heat but we didn’t feel any difference. We ordered white wine, we had almost finished our starters before this arrived. When I went through the main restaurant to use the loo it was like passing through a Parralell universe, warm with a great ambience. Diner arrived and we were presented with sides that we hadn’t ordered, we were told sorry, but don’t worry they won’t be on the bill, but at the end they were on the bill, so had to ask for them to be removed. We also asked for service charge to be removed which it was, but our waitress attitude toward us completely changed you could tell she had the right hump about this. The steak was the best steak I had in a very long time but the chips were a bit dried up and crispy. So all in all not a great experience for what is a very expensive place, would not return or recommend, when I booked I stated it was for a special occasion birthday, I don’t know why they asked this as there was no acknowledgement of this in any way at the restaurant.
Nice restaurant good and efficient service. My roast lunch was not bad, pretty light on the potatoes (3 of them) and no extra yorkie but was told they had a limited no. My steak was tasty, my father’s steak was very tough. He struggled to cut into it. He felt it was more like rump than sirloin. They replaced it. Not bad but not overwhelmingly good either.
Unfortunately we had extreme weather and I dont know if this or speed of movement from kitchen was to blame but the food was luke warm, we were lucky otherds just left.
At £120 per head must do better, going to Hawksmoor in future.
The food is hot and just as expensive and tasty
We came for a Sunday roast. Service was extremely slow (took nearly 2 hours for a 1 course meal - we didn’t have time for dessert after that). We were immediately told upon ordering there would be no extra gravy and no extra Yorkshire puddings (despite it being advertised as unlimited). The food was fine when it arrived but overall not a great experience and wouldn’t go back.
Good food, let down by an absolute shambles front of house staff.
Good evening RD123, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us with a review. I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience with us. This is not our usual standard & hope that you will join us again so that we can prove this. Kind regards, Gaucho Piccadilly Management Team
Service was dreadful. Sent one steak back twice as very under cooked but still came back out the same. Complain Ed and didn’t pay. Had booked this table as a treat for my friends 60th Birthday. Very disappointed
All was perfect ! Thank you very much !
Maybe a little bit to noisy but that’s fine
Table booked for 9pm. Arrived 10 mins early. Restaurant was very busy. We were asked to wait outside in the freezing cold for a couple of minutes for people to leave. The weather was very cold, windy and zero degrees there was snow in the air.
At reception we were told our table would be ready in 8 minutes so could have a drink at the bar. We were taken to the bar and seated next to what turned out to be our table, which was actually ready for us. As we were ordering our cocktails we were then moved 3 feet from the bar table to our table- a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing.
Our table for 4 people was adjacent to the door. This was a problem as the door was continuously being opened every few minutes and icy wind was blowing our napkins away and we were all very cold during the entire meal. On several occasions we asked the staff to close the door as they held it open whilst talking to customers on tables outside.
Staff were very nice and friendly but obviously overworked and busy. Service was a bit slow which initially wasn’t a problem, as it was nice to catch up with our friends. We had the meal from the set menu which started with a glass of bubbly but I had to ask for this twice and it didn’t arrive until we had finished our starters so we ate starter with no drinks.
We ordered a bottle of red wine to go with our steaks before main course but our food arrived and no wine. We asked again and still no wine. We finished our main course and then decided to cancel the bottle which still hadn’t been served. So we had the main course also without drinks. Our waiter was very apologetic and sweet you could see he was busy. We had cocktails with our deserts.
The food as always was first class top notch. For a value set menu it was absolutely lovely. However the wait in between courses was quite long. We were still there at 11.30pm and were starting to panic about the time as we had trains to catch home. Our friends missed their train
Really disappointing evening. Seated on a table with one seat in a tight walkway that got knocked every time someone walked past, took 4 servers to see if we wanted water for the table or not, not given a drinks menu for 15/20 minutes after sitting down, manic atmosphere from the staff running around, not all food delivered to the table at the same time and not asked if we needed anything else/checked if we were okay. Food was pretty nice but the non steak dishes were not outstanding. Wanted to have a great time here and had less than average. A shame that the service was this bad, at these prices tumour expect better.
Crammed way too many tables in so too many people hence way too much crowd noise. Drinks are way over priced, nice that they do fine wines but for 2 single whiskeys I could have bought a whole bottle in a shop. Steaks were good quality but not hot just like warm. Also we’re making people sit out on the covered exterior terrace in 1 degree temperature and very windy. Luckily they had blankets.
Everything was AMAZING!
Food was the best, service excellent
Thank you so much
We will be back!
It was very loud in the restaurant which I think ruined the atmosphere a little bit. The service was very poor and I found that we waited more than others who had came after us which was very disappointing. The starters were also disappointing but the mains were nice.
Amazing food and nice atmosphere, the cocktails were yummy too
Gorgeous food. Service a little slow but nice dinner
We chose Groucho expecting to get a good steak but they didn’t manage to serve us that, the chips were also over cooked un seasoned and flavourless too. I have to say the service was good and they kindly moved us to a better table after we were originally seated next to some very loud drunk guests. At this pretty expensive price point we should expect high quality food in good portions but we got neither, for example one of our starter dishes was scallops priced at £16.00 and for this we got 2 peices which seemed pretty mean.On the plus side when I brought the issues to the managers attention he did reduce our bill so it was just expensive rather than a complete rip-off!
My opinion is In summary Groucho should either drastically improve the quality of their food offering or lower their prices to align with similar quantity Beefeater style restaurants.
Really great reception from the guys as usual and attention to detail is outstanding
Generally nice - I can't be more enthusiastic than that. Ambience a bit weird - lots of botox and dodgy-looking people hanging around in the lobby. The loo was tiny and pretty dire - only two cubicles, v small area outside them, and desperately in need of decoration. Service was generally OK, though I didn't eat any of my pudding as it was horrible - I hadn't clocked (because it wasn't obvious on the menu) it was vegan - and when it was cleared away, I wasn't asked if there was any issue with it. All in all we had a nice meal, but I won't be rushing back.
They didn’t have all drinks available, there was no lunch menu even when stated online there was, staff kept pushing to buy other food such as more portions of chips and dips which were 3.50 each.
The staff were very friendly and wait time for food and drinks ordered was very quick. The rump steak was the best We’ve ever had and would most certainly recommend it. The design and layout of the restaurant was superb.
It was my sons birthday and you looked after him with a surprise cake thank you
The whole restaurant seemed unorganised from the moment we got there. We were asked to go to the top floor where someone would meet us, we got there and stood as staff rushed past without any acknowledgement.
We were sat at a table that was about the size of a postage stamp, which I knew straight off the bat wouldn’t be big enough for all of the food.
I was approached at the table by what I can only assume was a manager (suit on) he muttered a couple of words to me then was distracted and disappeared, never to return to finish whatever conversation he started.
The main arrived (chateaubriand) - the waitress soon realised that there wasn’t enough space on the table and asked if we wanted to put the steak straight onto our plates, very rushed.
The sides - awful.
The green beans had no garlic, in-fact no flavour at all.
The chips has no seasoning and definitely no thyme salt
The truffle mac and cheese (which they forgot) certainly had no truffle.
All in all a poor experience.
Food was fairly good, but cons included: table was far too small to eat comfortably, it was very noisy to the point you could not hear the other person opposite you (rather important when you are on a date!), average service (I had booked the Xmas menu and was expecting someone to walk us through the games, but no one came. Also long waiting time to ask for basic things like more wine/cutlery/the bill. It felt too busy and did not feel like we had an assigned waiter). Overall, average experience but won't be jumping to visit anytime soon.
Exceptional excellent customer service all the way. Food is delicious.
If I may just say, whilst the ladies at the ground floor reception are lovely, they do not meet the excellent service from the restaurant waiters themselves. They are the first face on the ground floor, lovely but not the best welcome or fairwell you'd expect, moreover when restaurant staff themself exceed expectation.
Great food, good service - too much noice for us :-)
Steak was absolutely delicious but not quite hot enough. Food and service was really good but very very expensive. Enjoyed it very much though.
Have really enjoyed Gaucho in the past but lunch there on Friday didn’t live up to expectations. We ate upstairs, the blinds were down so no natural daylight, the music was loud, the staff didn’t wear masks. Delicious steak (rump with bearnaise sauce) but very expensive wine (Malbec, house red), with a hefty bill at the end!
Really poor - terrible food (cold), terrible service. Table not cleared for ages after we’d finished eating. Salt in little packets. Had to ask for cutlery and water four times before it arrived. Incredibly hard to catch waitresses eye to order more wine. No sense this was a place that cared if you had a good experience.
Amazing food, host was very attentive, great recommendation with drinks and overall service was exceptional
Fantastic food although a little expensive for regular visits. Great atmosphere and attentive staff.
Can’t really put my finger on why but felt a bit underwhelmed with the whole experience.
