On the rural banks of the River Thames, in the quintessential London neighbourhood of Richmond, sits our iconic boathouse restaurant and waterside terrace, which in the summer hosts another of our ‘Asado’ outdoor barbeques. A striking centre piece of our terrace boasts one of London’s oldest Plane trees, a beautiful feature for arguably one of London’s most sought-after alfresco dining spots.
With our panoramic glass-paneled exterior we have glorious 360-degree views of Richmond Bridge and Petersham Meadows from our well-dressed dining-room and bar. An idyllic location for those long weekend lunches after a dog-walk in Richmond Park or for gathering the family and friends to celebrate those special occasions.
So, when you next take a stroll along the towpath, join us for an unforgettable steak, sampling our superb Argentinian beef and British seafood, or relax at the bar with a glass of wine and watch the boats sail by.
Apple gel, compressed apple, pickled celery, cucumber and citrus dressing
Fantastic meal with great service .
We had a lovely table overlooking the river. Good points...very friendly staff and very welcoming, enjoyed the complimentary champagne, excellent quality roast beef - perfectly cooked, good roast potatoes, good Yorkshire puddings, tasty gravy and delicious carrots. On the down side the food could’ve been hotter and the broccoli was definitely under cooked. Some roasted parsnips would’ve been preferable to the bone marrow!
I spend £100 for two person for set lunch with glass of wine. Soon after we left restaurant we both were hungry as the portion were so so small. Never happened to me before. We had starter, main and dessert. To the mains no fries or potatoes and salad not fresh - yelowish.
I will not go again. Sorry do not recomend.
Fabulous Sunday roast, cooked to perfection. We could see almost everyone was having it. Great service with a happy atmosphere. Well done
It was okay the device was remarkable however the food was not worth its price
Fantastic service and outstanding food. Would 100% recommend.
Steak was undercooked. We were offered a discount but it did affect our experience.
Fantastic service with amazing staff, loved the wine recommendation by our waiter. great food.
Beautiful view next to the riverside.
Great meal as usual. Options for kids are more expensive than other places but among the best in London and the high quality is well worth paying a little extra for. We’ll be back many times in the future
Getting fairly fed up of waiting 25-35mins to be seated for a table I have pre-booked. I will not be attending in future, despite the excellent food.
Restaurant was very good although atmosphere was disappointing as a consequence of inclement weather deterring other customers.
Tranquil quiet location with pleasant views of the Thames , with an excellent choice of steaks for the meat lovers and wines for the connoisseurs.
Wintery Tuesday evening and despite riverside location the restaurant was cozy and welcoming.
Food was grand - nothing out of this world, but flavourful, well cooked steak and great sides and sauces.
Staff were the best part of the evening - expertly paced (I’ll give you a pause before I bring you the dessert menu) without being over attentive (but also brought the bill as soon as I asked).
Overheard me greet my brother with “happy birthday” and though we chose dessert wine instead of dessert, brought him an unordered dessert with discrete candle etc.
Lots of steakhouses to chose from in London - If I need to make a choice again, I’ll chose here because of the service.
Great service and fantastic food - the staff were really attentive
Food & Service fabulous as always.
Attractive location. Nice ambiance. Service efficient. Food good. The scallop ceviche was very nice, and the steak cooked as requested. Very satisfied, nice evening out.
Great meal with amazing service.
Love the view by the river.
Wonderful meal at Gaucho. Such a lovely server which is hard to come by these days. Wonderful food and incredible knowledge on the food and wine by the staff members. Looking forward to going back
A lovely evening with the family - massive steaks for my boys and something
There was some confusion around our starter. Food arrived with a mistake and no one came back to check on us for our entire meal. Had to wait a long time for someone to return and when asked for a box, boxed up our own food while other tables had it boxed for them. Mashed potatoes were also very sub par. Expected more for the price.
Always like Gaucho Richmond good location nice atmosphere and friendly service. Will be back soon.
Loved it. service, food and atmosphere
Great all around
We have been going to this place for years but hadn't been for a while (cutting down on red meat etc). We were given a table by the door despite booking early in the week for a Friday evening meal. Five of us were squeezed onto a table for four, so a tight squeeze with all the glasses. My son's empanada was half empty and dry. The steaks were pretty good as usual, but you have to buy everything else, including fries so it's a pretty expensive evening - around £90 a head for two courses and wine. It will be a while before I go there again. It's better in the summer when the doors are open.
Really helpful staff, made us feel welcome with a newborn baby.
Slow service and overcooked chicken.
Amazing & Friendly welcoming, great service. Food was outstanding as always. Lovely atmosphere.
Fillet is amazing as usual, fabulous service from our waiter
Really good quality food and lovely attentive staff in riverside setting.
A frequent visitor of Gaucho. One can always be guaranteed an excellent steak. The staff at Richmond were lovely and knowledgeable. The ambiance was lively and a fun place to be. I love the Gaucho brand and it's consistent worldwide, which is good! Happy to recommend.
I visited Gaucho with a friend to celebrate her birthday. It was an embarrassing birthday present.
Despite the restaurant being practically empty, I had to get out of my seat to find the waiter 3 times.
The first steaks we ordered (Rare and Medium) were served to us were like slabs of grey stone. I had to, of course, find the waiter to return them.
Another half-hour, 2 fantastic steaks came along with fresh sides and so the kitchen was redeemed. A side salad arrived about 20 minutes later but we lived with that.
We had to ask 3 times to 2 different people for water
I would have liked another glass of wine but there was no one to ask.
The interior was not up to standard. The carpet needed vacuuming desperately and the lovely glass windows which could have shown a nice view were covered in fingerprints.
To be fair, although at my suggestion, the young manager did take our steaks and service charge off the bill but it is a sad indictment of a well-known brand restaurant.
The atmosphere, service and food make it a budget quick lunch destination, however, the prices and brand promise are of a much higher standard which they failed to deliver
Fantastic meal with great service and an amazing atmosphere, steak cooked to perfection
wobbly table, and the worst chair i have ever sat on. steak was average, asked for medium rare, was over medium almost well done. to busy to bother complaining having already complained about the camping table we were sat at. sides were good. but generally not a good Argentinean steak experience. 3rd disappointing trip for me. won’t be going again. plenty of other steak joints locally doing it better.
Amazing as always there was a lot of noise but this is due to it being Valentine’s Day. Food drink service all amazing. Would highly recommend.
Richmond Gaucho was very busy for Valentines Day and too many tables had been squeezed in for the occasion. The table we were shown to was ridiculous and we had to be moved - I am 6’4” and my wife is pregnant. However the starter was perfect - burrata bruschetta - and the best we have had outside Italy. My steak was also excellent as you would expect. However the cheesecake dessert was disappointing and was very sweet - not a bad dessert but not really a cheesecake. We then had to wait quite a while to pay the bill. So overall Gaucho is still a great place to eat especially next to the river but next time we won’t go on such a busy day!
We have been told we have 1.5h for the table before we have been show to our table, which put us off the whole experiences. We only end up staying just over 1h. Didn't fee like staying longer than that.
Generally good. My partner’s steak was a little overcooked. Very busy night as it was Valentines Night.
brilliant food. very nice place elegantly kitted out. steak was perfect as were the mushrooms and the chilly brocolli. outstanding value for the food that was presented. only thing i didnt like it was to packed and loud for valentines it should be a lilttle less busy and cosier but thats not really a complaint . i will be going back for sure
It was me and my partners date night and the service we got was amazing the waitress made us feel welcome even they was closing. She told us don’t worry stay finish your wine and everything so it was amazing night my stake was not cooked fully so I send it back but the service is amazing. The quality of service and people working there are amazing
Not only the palace and the food but the staff where amazing! Maria, our waiter made our anniversary very memorable for us! Thank you!! And thanks for the delicious desert 😊❤️ Top! Top! Súper recomendable for a special occasions.
I took a friend for lunch and despite the horrible weather outside, the service inside and atmosphere were lovely. Delicious food and great location.
