Very good servise, nice atmosfere. Very nice to sit outside near the river when it’s nice weather. Food so so. Steaks was nice but rest of the food we didn’t like at all. Starters were very poor. Side dishes not very good too. Bill was 200 for two of us. For the price I would expect a bit nicer food. I would go back for stakes.
I’m not sure why we had to wait half an hour when I had reserved a table for 8:30. Other than that, it was great.
From the U.S. on business. Had a team dinner. They were very helpful with the wine selection and the meat cuts. Very good Argentina selection of wines. Lively atmosphere.
We were at Gaucho for our wedding aniversary and everthing was perfect, the food was delicious, the staff was welcoming and friendly.
Lovely way to spend an afternoon by the river with good food and a lovely outside ambiance in the sunshine
Very special. Great tasting steak. Fantastic location. Highly recommended.
Food was good as always, however the table we were seated at was a squeeze for 4 people. The service was OK, although the servers had not recorded who ordered what correctly which resulted in an awkward shuffle of plates on the already cramped table!
Great as always.
My sons 14th birthday and the staff were very accommodating in making the evening special for him as well as ourselves. The food was fantastic for all of us, our waitress paulina (excuse the spelling) really was very proffesional and took her time explaining the menu. To end the evening she had arranged a dessert cake with a candle free of charge for my son to wish him for his birthday. Great place and will go back
Bank holiday Monday entertaining an older relative from Australia. We had a wonderful time and excellent food and good waiters but service was soooo slow. Luckily we didn’t have a time constraint but even bringing a bottle of wine took forever and our steaks were so delayed that I would hVe asked for an extra glass of wine as compensation for the wait had it not been that I didn’t want any fuss in front of our guest.
Whilst the food was fantastic, the service was very poor.
1st impressions ... walked in and waited nearly 5 mins watching the maitre'd and a staff member argue over something ... no welcome, no apology for keeping you waiting ... very poor first impression.
Our table was not ready, so we had a drink at the bar ... half the bar was stacked with used glasses waiting to be cleaned. Why were these stacked up on the bar and not out of sight somewhere else, making half of the bar unusable and not really a pleasant place to sit ... again just created a very poor first impression.
We were then escorted to a table, which was in a quiet area of the restaurant, fine as privacy for a table of two is nice. BUT then we continually, and I mean continually struggled to get attention from the waiting staff to take our order, and do anything for us. Were we in an unused area of the restaurant, were we paying less than the other people in the restaurant ... NO ... so why were we being ignored ?
THE FINAL STRAW ... "we have not fat chips" ... how can a steak restaurant, whose primary culinary provision is steak and chips, run out of FAT CHIPS ... their biggest seller. JUST RIDICULOUS.
The food was fabulous, but the front of house and waiting staff need a serious "kick up the ..." first impressions really count. I don't care if it was a busy afternoon and evening, and you were all at the end of your shifts. We were not paying less than everyone else because of that ... and as such did not expect to have the extremely poor experience we did.
Very disappointed ...
Perfect venue for our wedding anniversary dinner/lovely summer evening/great table outside with a stunning riverside view.service was great/steaks delicious/wine delicious.
Only comments would be to have a side included with main.
We booked lunch last weekend for our 20th wedding anniversary. The service was ok, but the food poor (we sent our food back as it was over cooked). Considering the price of the a la carts menu & wine list, I would expect much more from a Richmond restaurant. I appreciate that it’s a chain, but still. Good for people watching and riverside dining, but definitely not good value.
The ambiance was fantastic. The waitress seemed knowledgable about the product. However, the steaks came 30-35 min after ordering; clearly they sat somewhere else for 20+ min post ccoking time as they arrived lukewarm and a bit over cooked. The heirloom tomato salad was made much earlier in the day and allowed to sit out as the edges of the slices were dry. The tomatoes themselves were mushy and flavourless which was a surprise given the variety.
Busy restaurant. Helpful staff. Food ok but not 'special' as you might hope from the anticipation.
Very professional and friendly staff. Amazing steaks. Overall, everything was perfect.
Love this place!
Best meat in the UK
Waitress Maria is so kind
Good service, nice view on Richmond bridge and on the river, the food was delicious especially the beef and the tomatoes.
It is a bit expensive but it's worth it, I had the best beef in London so far.
Was stuck on where to go for my birthday and a friend suggested here! I loved everything about it. Their Steak is Amazing. Word of advice... if you want regular sized chips go for the skinny! The fat chips are like roast potatoes, they’re amazing too though. My other half had mentioned to the waitress it was my birthday and she brought out a complimentary chocolate mousse with strawberries and a candle. This place would be a stunning place to eat outside! Wonderful experience
Great evening had by all. Couple of mistakes with orders but immediately put right. Good atmosphere in the restaurant. Service good but at times a little too attentive, felt as if you were being watched over, minute you sipped water from your glass they were hovering over you to refill , some may like this but a bit much when an arm keeps cutting through your conversation! Guess this is to ensure the 12.5% service charge is paid....
Amazing river views, great service. Food good.
We went to Gaucho Richmond to celebrate 2 family birthdays. The steak was excellent.
Service good. We will return.
Nice setting with plenty of outdoor eating, however, not the best rib eye steak I have had recently. Nice but for the price I was expecting it to be better.
We had the Sunday lunch menu. Nice choice of starters and excellent beef for the mains. Crispy potatoes and a lovely red wine gravy. The vegetables were, however, a little too al dente for our taste. Good desserts, especially the grilled pineapple. Attentive, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. We shall definitely visit again.
Cold food, good service from 1 waiter but poor overall , all orders were wrong. What a shame for the price you charge it’s just not acceptable and also place was dirty, food on seats, not cleaned before we sat down. Shame on this place
Stake rather cold
Burger meat dry
Not offered steak knifes
Clumsy waiter dropped sauce on table
Been to gauchos many times and it never dissapoints. Their food is amazing and their service is immpecable and they hold themselves to a very high standard
I was very impressed with Gaucho's on the river at Richmond. The staff were welcoming and very professional, the position looking over the river is wonderful - and the food was excellent. Highly recommended.
Service was really attentive and helpful; explained as needed, checked that we had what we wanted and was alert and available during the meal. The food was good quality and cooked as requested. Aji sauce fantastic. Against that, the floor under the table badly needed sweeping and a £60 bottle of Flichman Shiraz tasted seriously rough.
Family celebration, ordered burguer, starters, steaks and salads (lunch set menu). Food was excellent but took aaaaaaages and only about 25% of tables were booked. Loved the Malbec. Staff very friendly. White leather chairs not too comfy and looked a bit dated. Great views / location.
It was okay apart from when I bought a bottle of still water it was poured into a dirty cup. When I made the waitress aware she threw out the water and changed the cup, then poured out more water out from the same bottle I paid for. At this point there wasn’t any water left in the bottle and I ended up paying for the bottle which I only got one glass out of.
I have been to gauchos many times ..this was the first time to Richmond restaurant I was disappointed ..the quality of the meat was questionable and it's execution was poor ..chewy and flavourless fillet?..I would have normally brought this to the attention of staff but the occasion did not lend it to this ..at nearly £100 per head I felt let down. I feel that the restaurant is now riding off the previously good reputation of the name without putting in the effort to maintain it ! Substandard!!!!
We had a great lunch here. The fixed price menu is great value for money. I love the atmosphere of this place and, although there was a very large party in, the service was as excellent as ever. My steak was deliciously flavoured. I only gave the food four stars because I asked for my steak medium and it was more medium rare. I left a couple of small bits because they were barely cooked at all. I have never encountered this before in this restaurant so I am sure it was a blip. We will definitely be back.
Easter Sunday lunch get together with some friends. We had a few issues with service, it was slow as it was busy and and they messed up on one order and ended up re-plating the whole table. To be fair, they managed it well and it wasn’t too much of an inconvenience- the offer to re-plate everyone was a big help. They also took off our deserts from the bill and gave us a bottle of wine to take home. All in all they more than made up for the issues. The food was fantastic as usual and we would look forward to returning in the future.
amazing, amazing birthday meal! Wonderful staff, incredible food and amazing service. Thank you, will definitely be returning!
Lovely location, great food exceptional staff. Overall a great experience! Thank you to our lovely waitress for looking after us so well.
This wonderful Steak Restaurant is a jewel in Richmond.
Try the delicious grilled prawns to start - you wont be disappointed!
Steaks are outstanding, wine - wonderful, general menu so extensive - but most of all the best management and staff at any restaurant I've been too - and this is what sets this restaurant apart!
Very dark so difficult to read the menu, music was too Lou so couldn't hear the waiter.
Steaks were cooked well and the junior menu was good value.
Felt quite rushed with starter and main course, not enough room on the table for side dishes, but the waiter squeezed them on anyway.
Missed drinks ordered.
Overall ok but for the money paid staff were not attentive enough.
