My all time favourite restaurant , Alexis is a genius
We had been dining in Gauthier Soho for several times and it had become one of our favourites in London. Unfortunately this visit was a little bit a let down. We went for the 8 course tasting menu - lovely choice, however the cod as the first main was a little bland and lacked Finesse. Hence this time no 5 starts, only 4. Nevertheless, I am looking forward for the next visit.
Very nice to find an up market restaurant making a genuinely serous attempt at vegan food. Well done Gauthier!
I had been to Gauthier once before so was thoroughly excited to share the 2 for 1 vegan experience with my boyfriend. However, we left feeling very 50/50 about the whole thing. As a vegan myself, I was expecting to have my mind blown by the main and honestly it was incredibly lackluster and not very memorable. The dessert as well, the caramel was nowhere near what a caramel should taste like (there was no taste) and I literally peeled it off from the ganache/coconut base as the texture was so unpleasant. The two mains i.e. meal/dessert were quite frankly a 4/10 which hurts my soul because I absolutely LOVED the restaurant when I went back in November which is why I was so looking forward to this experience, but it truly left me with a very sad taste in my mouth. As well, one of the servers we had, you could tell he did not truly understand what the dishes were and would simply name off a few ingredients instead of reciting what was actually in front of us, was very staged and again for a Michelin star restaurant I unfortunately expect more than that :(
What a wonderful find! The cauliflower risotto is a must. Can’t wait to go back
Took friends and we were all so impressed. Wonderful food and delightful experience, highly recommended
What fantastic tasting menus! Both the vegan and the goût du jour are a visual treat, and the taste is just as good. Meticulous attention to detail, charming staff, excellent wines. Each time we eat here, we are delighted.
Have been going to Gauthier since they opened in Romilly Street and always been happy with it. However this time the service was not up to the standard we have come to expect unfortunately. This tended to mar our enjoyment of our meal.
Outstanding restaurant with a French vegan menu. Highly recommend.
Restaurant lacked any ambience and was slightly shoddy - the toilets are not those of a 5* restaurant. Overall it was ok but nothing special
As always in UK and London dinner at Gauthier is a must.We had the tasting menu. The food was absolutely marvellous. The service as always was excellent. This must be one of the best restaurants in London. Will be back again when next in UK
Loved the town house setting in Soho. Food absolutely beautiful and tasty. Had vegan menu (as a non Vegan) and it was great. Service was good, more interactivity with the table or explanation of dishes would be nice. Sommelier in the downstairs room (nicer than upstairs ) was knowledgable and friendly - would come back again
Private dining feel at the very best hidden location off the crazy soho area. Out of 7+1 course we received only one was that had a lot to improve. Rest of it was delicious and very tasty! Wine choice is also wonderful! Service and ambiance is Devine !
This was the best vegan food I have eaten in London. Highest quality ingredients and beautifully presented. For once I did not feel like the odd one out! The ambience was very pleasant, and although full the noise level was fine. My first visit but will certainly not be the last.
Good service and excellent food. Great surroundings for a quiet business lunch or intimate meal
I am vegan and had the vegan tasting menu which was delicious.
What an incredible tasting menu and service we experienced. Glamorous and professional service yet unpretentious atmosphere. Food is seriously delicious and just beautiful!
It's a once in a lifetime experience for us - but we enjoyed it immensely. We chose the tasting menus with wines and were endlessly amazed and entertained by the flavours and ingredients used in the vegan dishes. The use of margarine was an eye opener!!!But it was very toothsome and fabulous wines and a fantastic experience.
Wonderful evening out, Fantastic food and service. Thank You Gauthier for a memorable experience
Had the Summer tasting menu with the Wines .Outstanding
Amazing vegan tasting menu and I cannot wait until my next visit
Each room has just a few tables in this townhouse and the ambience is discreet, but friendly and the staff are pleased to be making us happy. The food is imaginative, delicious, beautifully presented and the portions just the right size.
Lovely experience only marred by inordinate time it took to get a gin martini aperitif
Lunching at Gauthiers is like eating in a friend's dining room, a friend who is a celebrated chef! It's impressive!
The food , wine and service was excellent. The only issues was the room temperature was uncomfortably hot and air conditioning would have been a benefit . Over all it was a great evening that all my guests enjoyed and said they return their with friends.
Fantastic, innovative food, ensconcing atmosphere and excellent, engaged wine advisor
The welcome we received at Gauthier was exceptional, the food was outstanding, we were celebrating my daughters graduation. We were a table of both vegan and non vegan eaters and there is a wide choice of wonderful dishes to choose from. Really good wine list to choose from. A really lovely lunch with exceptional food and service.
It was an incredible dining experience. Friendly helpful staff. We opted for taster menus - vegan x 3 , regular x1. Dishes helpfully explained presented beautifully and tasted amazing. Assistance given on wine recommendations too. Lovely surprise when at end of meal plate of petit fours delivered with happy birthday and lt candle which rounded the evening off. Would definitely come back again, such a great experience that we are still talking about it.
20th wedding anniversary
Lovely staff everyone was nice
Food was great and price as expected
Only criticism is that I had to ask for the wine list? Very surprised as normally offered with menu or somelier comes around to talk to dinners about wine requirements. That was omitted completely and we actually had to order wine after food also luckily it came to us before the food did 😊
I visited the restaurant with family and friends for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. We had the 8 course tasting menu which was delicious. Would thoroughly recommend it as a treat.
An outstanding experience as is the norm with Gauthier. The tasting menu was exquisite on all course with difficulty in saying which was best-they are all fabulous but of course Gauthier’s truffle risotto is always hard to beat! Service was exemplary and the knowledge of the wines which were very well paired and the discussion of them was expertly handled.
With the summer offer in place it was also incredible value for money and to be repeated as much as I can in the coming weeks.
Outstanding in all aspects. Celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with the full 7 courses with an amazing selection of intricate wine pairings. Each course was truly memorable. Thanks again to the whole team.
We love Gauthier - never fails to please. So much so that our daughters wedding breakfast took place there three summers ago !
Having been smitten with the quality of the food when we went for lunch at Gauthier for the first time a few years ago we have tried since then to visit this restaurant on a monthly basis. I am at a total loss as to how the whole team manages to make both of us feel that each occasion is better than the last one - even though we rate every visit as totally perfect in every way. Gauthier is one of those rare restaurants that oozes genuine hospitality (in a very intimate setting) and creates the impression that one is not only being entertained by friends but also of being a very valued guest. It seems to me that every member of the team is dedicated to making sure that the whole experience provided to the guests is of the highest quality - the food is always superbly cooked and absolutely delightful, the numerous members of front of house staff are knowledgeable, professional and very personable and the pace at which the dishes are served is spot on. And all of this at a very reasonable price of 50 pounds for the Deluxe three course lunch (with a number of in-between taster courses!) that includes a glass of champagne and two glasses of thoughtfully chosen wines - not to mention coffee and Petit Fours! Truly a magical gem of a restaurant. Thank you all for, yet again, looking after us so well and we are looking forward to our next visit.
Drinks took too long to arrive and sometimes did not arrive at all
Very good food.
Go for the vegan options!
I’m sure the rest is very tasty.
I bit of a hidden gem
As a non-vegetarian I went for the Vegan tasking menu and was very impressed!
Not the cheapest but by far the best meal out we have ever had!
Lovely venue, very polite staff and great food for a Vegan!
Not at all worth the time and money! Service and place mediocre, it felt more like a chain than anything else. Taken to your 'table' without being asked if you want to leave coat or anything, half the water poured in glass end up on glass and table, welcome. As it is in an old victorian house, forget sound proofing and air conditioning, Champagne and white wine at room temperature, pairing with dishes really not that great, staff friendly but not to the standard one would expect... Anyway £200 for 2 not well spent, wouldn't recommend.
