Really nice and super good services
Really enjoyed our evening, vegan tasting menu with wine pairing was an excellent choice.
Fantastic experience, as usual: quality without being hidebound.
One of the best places I have eaten at. As always, the food was perfect.
Cauliflower amuse bouche & risotto starter luke warm, ditch the popcorn as well. Cod main ok. Apple tarte would have been more enjoyable warm as well. Wine choices excellent. Had to ask for a drink after waiting about 5” on arrival.
Always delighted to go to Gauthier, food ,service and wines always the best.....
Staff charming and helpful
Quite exceptional food and service, beautiful formal surroundings make for a special experience. Bravo!
Best 7 courses I have ever tasted consecutively. Everything was perfect. Its opened my eyes
The vegan taster menu combined with the wine pairings was fantastic. Every dish was delicious and varied. Service was friendly and professional. I would highly recommend for a special occasion meal.
As usual, we enjoyed the food at gautier and would definitely return but the last few visits to lunch, they insist on allocate us on the upper floor of the building where it seems that food takes longer to go up making the waiting times between dish and dish longer, to the point to almost lose appetite.
Next time I will highly appreciate you sit us at the ground or first floor as used to be when we started visiting the place years ago, before your M. stars.
Otherwise, all good, wine paring great, signature dish delicious. Thanks to everyone who made our dishes and my husband bday special.
Gorgeous and classy, this is a fantastic special evening for anyone who wants to indulge. The vegan meringues were incredible, and the autumn truffle tortellini was not just the best item on the menu, but the best thing I’ve ever eaten.
Really nice dining room. We had the set lunch with wine pairing which worked really well. The food was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Chosen to suit both the carnivores and a vegan in the group and was certainly a hit with the vegan who said she'd never had gourmet vegan food before so that's a plus! For me the food was adequate - appetising first course of scallops and a delicious pudding but the main course of quail did not inspire. Very expensive wine list - not sure there was anything under £35 and little choice in the £35 to £50 range. The dining room is fairly old fashioned and staid and it felt lacking in energy and life. The service however was exceptional in the way only French restaurants can deliver. Just all bit dull I'm afraid.
Great food and venue and no music which is great to be able to talk at normal volumes.
Great vegan tasting menu. So lovely to have vegan fine dining. Very good value wine flight with some interesting wines. Highly recommended.
Toilets we out of order , so we was sent to another restaurant up the road , we wasn't informed there was an issue when we arrived, nor did we get any apology for the inconvenience, waiters were rude and service level was very poor apart from the sommelier !! i would advise anyone not to waste your time or money
We were really looking forward to dining here but sadly overall we were left dissatisfied and disappointed.
• vegan beetroot patty starter
(A little tasteless, especially paired with the strong overly buttered bread provided)
• truffle tortellini, nice but a little salty
• Scottish scallops, average
• truffle risotto, nice
• venison (asked for medium/rare, quite tough to chew) average (a little bland)
• halibut (very bland)
Initially the service started off okay, greeted nicely by each waiter that came to the table.
Would have been nice to have one dedicated waiter for the table as the messages got lost at times.
We were sat behind a wall so felt like we were forgotten midway to end of meal and had to peer over, at one point I had to get up to find someone, which is should not have happened.
Wc was in maintenance so was asked to use a neighbouring restaurants wc.
The neighbouring restaurant made the visit very uncomfortable stating they were “fed up” of having to cater to those visiting from Gauthier.
I understand that these situations may arise, however considering this may violate health and safety (staff may not be able to cleanse themselves properly or may have had to wash in the same area as the food) we were definitely expecting a gesture on the bill for this experience.
Instead ended up footing the whole bill which was overpriced for the quality of food and experience costing almost £300 for 2 people!
Very disappointed and unfortunately would not recommend for these reasons.
This was an amazing experience, we had the Vegan tasting meal with the wine experience. It was a special occasion for a 21st birthday and the whole evening from the waiters, food and wine was superb. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Two of us had the vegan menu and it was delicious. We were given faux gras with bread to start (but not told we would be charged extra) then three other courses plus a pudding. All lovely. I would have preferred slightly larger savory dishes as I was hungry after a couple of hours. Staff were nice.
Very good menu which was paired well with the wine selection. Waiting staff were attentive and helpful.
The restaurant was wonderful, the food very special and imaginative. Being able to split the tasting menus so that some of the table might have meat and fish whilst the others had vegan made it a lovely choice for a double celebration. Being located in a tall narrow house made for lovely small dining rooms
Only two hiccups when we arrived early in torrential rain we knocked on the door only to very rudely be told that they weren't open and the door was shut in our faces, leaving us to get drenched. The same extremely rude blonde waitress also left us to struggle with the door when we left until another member of staff assisted us. All the other staff were wonderful
The other was assuming that it was my husband was the birthday celebrant when it was the female guests
great value lunch and also a very good selection on the table dhote.
Impressed as usual
Creative flavorful cooking with attentive service. It is an excellent restaurant and a great value. My scallop starter was the best starter of my week in London.
fabulous vegan tasting menu which reinforces the fact that a wonderful chef using beautiful ingredients can make vegetables the real star of the show! wonderful balance of courses.
Had the Vegan taster menu with accompanying wine. This was nice, I found it difficult to understand our waiter which was annoying. The food was very nice, but I expected more. Enjoyed the visit but wouldn’t return.
We have had lunch here many times now and have never been disappointed. A few different faces in the team this time but all delivered excellent and attentive service. I don't think you can't go wrong with the Version Deluxe lunch menu.
Excellent food. Service was a little too quick initially but slowed down on request. The overall experience was extremely good.
A real treat to experience such good vegan food! The service was excellent: lovely waiting staff, who were attentive without being intrusive. We (there were two of us having the vegan tasting dinner menu) really liked the carrot tartare ground at the table. Doing that added to the sense of occasion and I love getting a little insight into the food we are eating. We very much appreciated the ambience with the low, candle-lit lighting, and especially the noise level. So many restaurants and cafes make the mistake of having too many hard surfaces so they become noisy. The carpet makes a big difference and helped create a feeling of intimacy. We enjoyed being seated at a round table as neither of us like having our backs to the rest of the restaurant. The only suggestion i would make for change would be to have some music (low level). Thank you for a great experience. We really do want to go again.
As always excellent service, first class food and at a bargain price
First time to the restaurant based on a colleagues recommendation.
Food and service exceptional and very good value.
Will be back!
Loved the performance at Gauthiers. One waiter could have smiled more but otherwise perfect!
Very good service for begining to end of the diner. Lot of choice in the menu with high quality food. Recomended!
We booked 12.30 Saturday and in hindsight it was too early as we were the only 2 in the room until about 1.30. Not the restaurants fault but felt awkward. Service kinda took time to warm as well and like they didn’t really know what do with us. All a bit stilted. We went for the lunch tasting menu which is great value. The Faux Gras was well Faux and a bit pointless but the signature risotto was a triumph and arguably the best dish. We then had the Black Halibut which was a little under seasoned and bland. We then had a wonderful Venison dish and a stunning dessert. Wine list is pretty punchy with big mark ups but I found a great Kiwi Pinot Blanc at £47. The sommelier was pretty timid so didn’t really engage but I fortunately knew why way round the list so just cracked in with it. So to sum up the place needs to be busy and I think a balmy night for a classy good value meal would have been perfect as the place has a great vibe once it’s full. Just don’t do weekend brunch until well after 1. Some superb cooking though...just keep the wine in take down otherwise your in for a hefty bill. Will be back
A beautifully presented restaurant with a sophisticated vibe. The staff are friendly and efficient whilst not being at all intrusive.
The dining experience was stunning; the Vegan tasting menu with paired wines was excellent. The flavours of autumn presented in a subtle yet powerful taste explosion with innovative presentation ideas and all delivered exceptionally.
Thank you Gauthier for taking Vegan fine dining to the next level!
This was my second visit for the deluxe 3 course lunch at Gauthier. Everything was as fabulous as the last time, but my friend and I did notice that it wasn't quite so generous. We were surprised at the items on the menu which came with £8-10 supplements, this wasn't the case last year and we felt that the restaurant should keep to the deal and offer appropriate dishes without supplements. Just little things like the petit fours were much smaller this time also. Probably not enough to put us off altogether, but maybe look for other places instead of guaranteeing our regular return.
We were a 4 but one of our number had not been before, he was so (rightly) impressed.
The Deluxe set lunch must be the best quality/value in London and you also get an amuse-bouche and a pre-dessert. The wine pairings which are included are first class. Also, if you have a vegan or vegetarian in your party this is the place for them.
Lovely food. Superb service. Always a nice meal out.
Really good food, one of the best,but..
the service was dire, lots of staff but not properly managed. We arrived at 6.30 but we didn't order till after 7, we had to ask twice for the wine list. When our white wine came it was at room temperature. The bread came after our first course!! Throughout the meal we were sat with empty wine glasses, service was slow between courses. After we had finished our meal and asked for the bill we had to ask again to get our remaining wine poured, still warm. We deleted the service charge, the waiter then started arguing with us!!
A restaurant for a special occasion. A great vegan tasting menu...a treat to have this quality and level of cuisine available for a vegan! Nice and cosy and intimate
Delicious vegan tasting menu with attentive and friendly service. The passionate and extremely knowledgeable sommelier helped us choose excellent wines to complement the dishes too.
Food was innovative, filling and stunningly fresh and delicious.
