Excellent food and perfect wines. Attentive but not intrusive service. Lovely room with well spaced tables. It was my first time at this restaurant and we will certainly be returning.

We visited Gauthier during our London family weekend. The restaurant looks like a living room, cosy and stylish. Service is excellent and the sommelier recommended us a brilliant Bordeaux. We selected a three-course dinner. Starters were exquisite, the rainbow ravioli is highly recommended. As main course we tried the quail and beef. Very tasty and the presentation makes it almost a shame to touch the plate. As dessert we selected the signature dish Louis XV, overall a unique experience!

a really fine experience who for someone who appreciates ambiance, style and fine cuisine -

We ate on the top floor which was intimate and quiet ( mainly couples) and shabby London/Soho chique

We Really enjoyed it

Gauthier's is one of my favourite restaurants ant they didn't disappoint me on this occasion. The
tasting menu was excellent particularly the scallops and the risotto and the sommelier was very
helpful of the selection of or wine. Very enjoyable and will certainly be back soon.

We went vegan. My partner has made that choice since our last visit.
This is a fabulous restaurant with excellent cuisine. We were only slightly disappointed by a couple of dishes when the sommelier asked us to note tastes that we couldn't detect! These were:
The marrow which didn't have the olives/saltiness coming through
The tortellini where the creaminess was somewhat too acidic for my taste
{PS why is sommelier not in your dictionary?!!)

One of the most incredible and special dining experiences of my life. There are no words for this amazing place! The food was absolutely exceptional, the service was the best we’ve experienced in London, and the atmosphere was a lovely, quiet and peaceful respite among the chaos of the city.

Food lovely, most of staff ok, got called at 9 for my 945 reservation to make sure I’m there no later than 945 or they wouldn’t give us the table, so ensured I was there early at 935. Was told to go away and have a pint at the local pub for 15-20 minutes as they weren’t ready for us despite having to be told to be there ASAP. Blonde waiter hadn’t a lot of chair-side manner, but there was another brown haired waiter who was much nicer and a pleasure. Food good, but gluten free bread took 40 minutes to arrive. Overall fair, but for the price paid especially with £25 service charge, a little disappointing.

The food was exceptionally tasty, it is a real foody restaurant, so don't expect pub lunch proportions - here you're paying for the work of a highly talented, creative group of chefs.

Another enjoyable deluxe lunch experience at Gauthier! Never fails to please. Good choices for our vegetarian companion. Our chicken was soft and succulent and the little extra dessert was a nice surprise with its vegan meringue.

We were really hoping to be inspired by what their restaurant does with Vegan food. We chose the vegan tasting menu “Les Plantes”.
It was good but not inspirational. The atmosphere is very formal which wasn’t great - the whole thing could have relaxed a lot more. Vibes in the bathroom were more fun than at the table!
The food was a good standard but there could have been greater opportunities for surreal humour like was achieved with them carrot tartare. A highlight was some of the organic/biodynamic wine which was very interesting. Also the service was very friendly and attentive.
Overall I didn’t feel like we’d gone to a new and different space. We wish them well but felt a bit disappointed by the whole experience.

A quaint, intriguing Soho townhouse at which you have to ring the doorbell to enter.
The restaurant is set within a number of rooms, all characterful and decorated with class, including a nice contrast of traditional white table settings with funky artwork on the walls and dark moody toilets.
Staff are plentiful and all extremely polite, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
We had the tasting lunch with paired wine - the food was fantastic in taste, beautifully presented and all very seasonal (even if quite rich, which was especially true as I finished a couple of my partner's dishes).
The paired wine was the suggestion of the sommelier and a good one - we considered picking (with help) a bottle to broadly suit all courses, but the pairing is the far better option as the wine perfectly matches the food (even if it may not be something that you would drink in isolation or perhaps a whole bottle of).
This was my second visit to Gauthier Soho and I will definitely go again - highly recommended.

We had a lovely vegan taster menu for lunch. The amount of flavour the chef managed to get into the dishes was wonderful. I would certainly return. We opted for the wine flight which pushed up the cost of lunch but it was definitely worth the extra as every wine complimented each dish. I have had wine flights in the past and been quite disappointed with them but not here. Definitely worth trying the vegan taster menu even if you are not vegan (which two out of the three of us were not). Quite inspirational and makes you want to try out more DIY vegan dishes at home. The setting is like someones living room but that is often the case in some central London restaurants. It makes for a more personal feel. The staff that dealt with us were all lovely. I would have said a farewell at the end as we left might have been appropriate rather than just taking the money and leaving without asking if we had coats or anything in the cloakroom. That is really the only criticism albeit rather minor.

Amazing place !
We went first time for our anniversary and we felt in love for this place .
The food is great , I had a vegan tasting menu and my boyfriend the normal tasting menu .
We both love the place as our favourite restaurant in the UK .
My boyfriend who lived in France for many years says that even compared to french restaurants this is the best he has ever been !

The service is outstanding!

I recommend to everyone to try !

Embarrassingly slow service. Could not provide us all with a menu for 50 minutes. Our party of 6 were in a side room and throughout the evening the host had to get up and find a waiter at least 6 times. After nearly 3 hours they offered us a free bottle but it was too little too late- whilst we waited for the next course. Such a shame as the food was good but we were all fed up and hungry. We declined coffee as we were keen to get home. Two of the party also thought the taster menu was insufficient quantity wise as portions were far too smal.

This was my first visit to Gauthier to try the Les Plantes Spring Tasting menu. The food was excellent (particularly the black truffle tortellini and the aquafaba meringue), as was the service. However I didn't feel the dining experience was for me overall. It's very old school and uptight, I felt a bit on edge for the evening. I really feel it could benefit from a contemporary overhaul, embracing the more current trends of laid-back fine dining. A really good example of this I have experienced is a small plant-based fine dining experience in Portland, Oregon called Farm Spirit. I would recommend Gauthier depending on who was asking me - my mum would love it, but I'm not sure I would recommend it to my friends.

The vegan tasting menu was incredibly clever and the wine pairings were spot on . The star of the show was the truffle tortellini!
The decor is a bit tired now and our table was trapped at the back on the first floor and it felt as if we were in a corridor so so many staff walked past , it became a bit of a bore and took the edge of th evening and the fantastic food.
