George and Dragon
Thoroughly enjoyed our roast dinner on Sunday. Perfect beef.
Excellent pub to sit in, lots of snugs and comfy clean tables. Excellent service. The food was tasty if not a little odd. The cheese cake was ‘exploded’ which meant there was no biscuit base. The rarebit with the steak was also a bit too odd for most of the members of my party. However, the rest of the menu was excellent.
Met a friend for lunch on a Monday. I had battered fish and chips and can report that they were the best chips I'd ever tasted - anywhere! My friend thought the same. Lovely and calm in the restaurant. Service was attentive and charming but discreet. Would meet there again.
Great food and service. Food appeared to be freshly prepared and cooked. Nicely presented and well served.
We were immediately shown to our table and given menus. We noted that one of the menus was gluten free that we requested the day before. Good! Table service was faultless throughout our meal. The menu was somewhat limited but we were able to choose to our liking and exchanged course was prompt. The quality was excellent. My guests were very happy with the venue, the service and the food. We will return
One minor gripe is that three of us were seated on a bench with no back. Not comfortable for me or most of us as bar one, we are all pensioners and need propping up. But we are wiser now and will address that when we next book a table.
I was impressed that when we came to pay; I offered a tip but the waitress pointed out that there was a service charge included in the bill. Very honest.
A big thank you to all the staff.
Stayed one night b& b rooms very nice, had evening meal which was good, the bar staff where friendly and efficient would stay again and would recommend .
Food was brilliant, pub was calm and quiet, beautiful. The two waitresses who served us was lovely too. Lovely evening.
Easy to book on line, difficult to get any response on the phone.
Overall experience was very good. The staff were efficient and helpful, the food was good and well presented. It was our first visit we'll certainly be visiting again.
A delicious lunch. Friendly service. Very enjoyable.
Easy to book online, excellent service with good food
Great environment with a good selection on the menu. Loved the tapas idea as didn't want two courses so this was just enough with a main. Drinks a little pricey but other than that good value and great service. Would highly recommend.
Love this pub! We were out for a sibling dinner and my eldest brother is a total foodie, he was very impressed, so all very happy!
We wanted to stop for dinner on the drive from Devon to London and this was absolutely what we were looking for. The only slight quibble I would have is that I would have liked larger portions of vegetables. However, overall the food was excellent, the service was great and the surroundings very nice.
Great food, fresh and local produce, presentation was wonderful. Friendly service, nice decor, alongside traditional flagged floors. Our new favourite Friday night spot
The George & Dragon offers a good evening menu and range of drinks in close proximity to Andover whilst retaining the feel of a local village pub. The facilities were modern and clean and the staff were attentive without being over-bearing.
Although the service was great, the main course was disappointing. The lamb too rare, almost raw , sinewy and no mint sauce offered. Roast potatoes dry and tasteless, very thin gravy, all in all, not the most satisfactory offering.
The George and Dragon is fine -the service and atmosphere is great, but it's not really a pub. We booked a table before a wedding in the village, but really struggled with the menu as it's all so fancy and obscure. The smoked trout starter was fine, but came with lots of odd things that you wouldn't normally have with cold smoked fish. The burger was delicious, but it is the only "pubby" thing to eat on the whole menu. The side of asparagus had ONE piece of asparagus chopped up top of some salad leaves and tomatoes - complete rip off considering it is British asparagus season and it was around £3 for the plate. Again the side salad was tasty but it wasn't really a salad! I've had the tapas before and the plates are tiny, and don't really all go together as a whole. I wish this lovely pub would change their menu and go back to "normal", delicious food!
Really interesting menu, but lacking a bit of finesse. Could be amazing with a bit of refinement.
A great menu, all tasted fabulous, with very friendly service.
Food was excellent as was the service. My only negative would be that the potatoes were over seasoned for my taste but everything else was exceptional
Delightful spot, great food
Best pub meal we have had for several years. Chef's really know how to cook. It's like Dining at Masterchef or Great British Menu. Great menu choices - much more interesting than usual pub.
Excellent ambience and service. Good value too.
Birthday meal was really lovely thanks you
We are so glad you enjoyed your birthday meal with us. We hope to see you again soon. Thank you
good food from an innovative menu, served by charming and efficient staff
Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks
Imaginative menu, skilful cooking and friendly, efficient staff. A totally enjoyable experience.
Thank you for your kind review. We're really pleased that you enjoyed it and we hope to see you again soon. Thanks again
Very pleasant Saturday lunch with the family. Could not fault anything.
Very good food in a lovely setting. English tapas was ideal for a light lunch.
Decent gastropub with some interesting items on the menu (haggis, Marmite potatoes as nibbles, for example). Somewhat limited wine selection, many local gins and a couple of local beers. Decent service, not cheap but nor outrageous, either - four of us ate, including pre-lunch drinks and (large) glass of wine, for just south of £200.
A very limited menu for a Sunday. Thankfully there was a roast on as a ‘special’. I felt it was a pretentious menu and overpriced, the desserts especially were hugely disappointing for a country eatery.
We ordered coffee and fudge instead and instead of fudge got a stale nut fudge not stated on the menu, very dangerous in today’s climate of allergen declaration. Coffee was very nice, the roast was very good and good choice of veggies.
Just a disappointing menu not befitting the ambience, staff and location.
Swift, friendly service. Excellent food
Our 1st meal at George & Dragon and not disappointed. Fantastic food and service. Thank you
We were very disappointed to be give a table on a busy walk through therefore not much room and 3 people had to sit on a bench seat with no back rest. The menu was limited in that it seemed it was trying too hard with complicated sauces.
This is our local pub and we are so pleased it is, we often take family and friends and it never fails to leave a great impression and we love it . Patrick has a great team great food great atmosphere. Cannot praise highly enough
A beautiful venue set in a quaint picturesque village. Food is wonderfully cooked and presented. Suit both formal and informal occasions. Family orientated, with a warm welcome and ambience. Fantastic experience. Highly recommend.
First class service and a fabulous meal. Will definitely go again
A very nice experience, with excellent atmosphere, clean, bright with plenty of choice on the menu. Food was delicious, creative with a continental flavour. Staff could not be more friendly. Highly recommended for lunch with friends !
This is a lovely place to dine of an evening. The food is quite pricey as is most local restaurants in this area, but nonetheless it is beautiful and well presented. I would definitely eat here again for a evening meal but the lunch time menu has little to offer and is quite basic.
Lovely Sunday dinner, could not fault it, desserts very tasty and unusual takes on the traditional, felt the price was a little on the upper end for a roast lovely though it was, would return on special occasions, really nice restaurant.
