George and Dragon
No atmosphere at all considering it is 16th century inn and the modernised layout is poorly planned. Our food looked better than it tasted. Our £25 steaks tasted ok but the ‘café au lait’ sauce didn’t work for us at all.
We all ordered 'specials', which were well above expectations of pub dining; imaginative and delicious. The staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive, warranting the (optional) service charge that is added to the bill. We would go to the George & Dragon again.
Great meal as always, simple as that! Lovely pub, very friendly staff and wonderful food.
Lovely Sunday lunch, really nice atmosphere and laid back (which we like). Our only complaint is the roast potatoes, some great but some a little hard... but overall really great beef roast, nicely cooked and good quality, and just right price point.
The menu was very limited in terms of dietary alternatives (vegan/vegetarian). Service was a little slow and the portions were quite small.
They were.very kind in recognising my daughter’s birthday with a piped plate “Happy Birthday “ and some fudge.
Great place. Lovely staff and good food. Warm and comfortable. Highly recommended.
We could have done with a slightly wider menu, especially at the " light bite" end of the spectrum. I come from Warminster and my friends travelled from Lewes in East Sussex and it was an ideal meeting point. We only meet up about once or twice a year and shall probably meet at the George and Dragon when we do so in future. It is comfortable, warm and in a beautiful part of the countryside.
We love this pub, less than 10 minutes from our house and they serve the best roast dinners.
Lovely time with the family. Great food, wooden floors made it noisey once the table full of children joined behind us. But service was brilliant, drink was top.
Website menu nothing like the menu we were offered, so little choice. No specials of the day. Poached egg starter came out as a hard boiled egg. 4oz Rib eye steak served with triple cooked chips and 3 lettuce leaves! all for £24.00. Will never go back
Lovely village pub, great service and fantastic food. Was made to feel very welcome and was not rushed out of the door. A lovely lunch was had by all.
It felt more like a coffee shop. Too much light, wood floors.
Our favourite place for food and atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
Our Sunday roasts were great, our only downside was the roast potatoes weren’t the best and we felt like an extra side dish of cauliflower cheese or something like that would have gone down very well.
The beef was amazing though, service also really great and we liked the pub - proper country pub :)
We would recommend and will be back.
Imaginative menu, friendly staff, fabulous locally brewed beer. And all in a great location. Well worth a visit.
Food was delicious, fresh and served in a reasonable time. They were able to adjust the meal for my mum who is dairy, wheat and gluten intolerant with not much hassle. Very polite staff. Drinks were nice as well.
I booked lunch for 10 people, We were given a private dining room. All areas of the pub are comfortable and welcoming. The menu offered plenty of options for carnivores and vegetarians. The presentation and timing of the dishes were impeccable. All of us thought the food inventive and tasty. The wine list offered a good selection of interesting wines, many organic and all fairly priced. We were looked after by the friendly and efficient staff very well indeed.
Excellent Sunday Roast in a fabulous and cozy environment. Service was perfect, food cooked to perfection accompanied by delicious wine. Even had three courses and sampled the delicious puddings on offer.
Thoroughly enjoyed our roast dinner on Sunday. Perfect beef.
Excellent pub to sit in, lots of snugs and comfy clean tables. Excellent service. The food was tasty if not a little odd. The cheese cake was ‘exploded’ which meant there was no biscuit base. The rarebit with the steak was also a bit too odd for most of the members of my party. However, the rest of the menu was excellent.
Met a friend for lunch on a Monday. I had battered fish and chips and can report that they were the best chips I'd ever tasted - anywhere! My friend thought the same. Lovely and calm in the restaurant. Service was attentive and charming but discreet. Would meet there again.
Great food and service. Food appeared to be freshly prepared and cooked. Nicely presented and well served.
We were immediately shown to our table and given menus. We noted that one of the menus was gluten free that we requested the day before. Good! Table service was faultless throughout our meal. The menu was somewhat limited but we were able to choose to our liking and exchanged course was prompt. The quality was excellent. My guests were very happy with the venue, the service and the food. We will return
One minor gripe is that three of us were seated on a bench with no back. Not comfortable for me or most of us as bar one, we are all pensioners and need propping up. But we are wiser now and will address that when we next book a table.
I was impressed that when we came to pay; I offered a tip but the waitress pointed out that there was a service charge included in the bill. Very honest.
A big thank you to all the staff.
Stayed one night b& b rooms very nice, had evening meal which was good, the bar staff where friendly and efficient would stay again and would recommend .
Food was brilliant, pub was calm and quiet, beautiful. The two waitresses who served us was lovely too. Lovely evening.
Easy to book on line, difficult to get any response on the phone.
Overall experience was very good. The staff were efficient and helpful, the food was good and well presented. It was our first visit we'll certainly be visiting again.
A delicious lunch. Friendly service. Very enjoyable.
Easy to book online, excellent service with good food
Great environment with a good selection on the menu. Loved the tapas idea as didn't want two courses so this was just enough with a main. Drinks a little pricey but other than that good value and great service. Would highly recommend.
Love this pub! We were out for a sibling dinner and my eldest brother is a total foodie, he was very impressed, so all very happy!
We wanted to stop for dinner on the drive from Devon to London and this was absolutely what we were looking for. The only slight quibble I would have is that I would have liked larger portions of vegetables. However, overall the food was excellent, the service was great and the surroundings very nice.
Great food, fresh and local produce, presentation was wonderful. Friendly service, nice decor, alongside traditional flagged floors. Our new favourite Friday night spot
The George & Dragon offers a good evening menu and range of drinks in close proximity to Andover whilst retaining the feel of a local village pub. The facilities were modern and clean and the staff were attentive without being over-bearing.
Although the service was great, the main course was disappointing. The lamb too rare, almost raw , sinewy and no mint sauce offered. Roast potatoes dry and tasteless, very thin gravy, all in all, not the most satisfactory offering.
The George and Dragon is fine -the service and atmosphere is great, but it's not really a pub. We booked a table before a wedding in the village, but really struggled with the menu as it's all so fancy and obscure. The smoked trout starter was fine, but came with lots of odd things that you wouldn't normally have with cold smoked fish. The burger was delicious, but it is the only "pubby" thing to eat on the whole menu. The side of asparagus had ONE piece of asparagus chopped up top of some salad leaves and tomatoes - complete rip off considering it is British asparagus season and it was around £3 for the plate. Again the side salad was tasty but it wasn't really a salad! I've had the tapas before and the plates are tiny, and don't really all go together as a whole. I wish this lovely pub would change their menu and go back to "normal", delicious food!
Really interesting menu, but lacking a bit of finesse. Could be amazing with a bit of refinement.
A great menu, all tasted fabulous, with very friendly service.
Food was excellent as was the service. My only negative would be that the potatoes were over seasoned for my taste but everything else was exceptional
