Wonderful food, service was efficient but not overpowering and the ambiance relaxed. The mains were tasty, copious and did not leave any space for desserts. Look forward to going back.
Our 3 rd time visit to the GG and it was excellent, had some clients with me and they were blown away with the waiters and the attention to our table - well recommend
Great food. We will go back. Delicious cocktails and great service.
Nice german food
Great lunch offer - three courses and a glass of wine for £30 - that really worked. Sat upstairs and enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
The Special menu has many classic dishes, something for everyone. I had the smoke salmon tartare and of course a Schnitzel as my main. I finished with three individual scoops of pear, apricot, and strawberry sorbet. It was a wonderful meal.
Lovely Xmas lunch!
I love this place and have been multiple times. But today I was quite disappointed by the service. I’d specifically mentioned on my reservation that I’d had an operation recently and requested a table downstairs ideally or a comfy chair with a cushion. Instead I had a seat upstairs, on the far possible side up loads of steps. The chair was not comfy and no cushion. By the time we were on deserts, I was very uncomfortable and asked if we could move to one of at least 6 spare tables that had a soft comfy seat around the edge and was told no, they were booked. So I requested cushions and was eventually given 2. We would have stayed much longer and drank and eaten more, but I was so uncomfortable by this point we paid and left. None of the comfy tables I was told were reserved were ever used. So really unimpressed by the care shown to me to be honest and won’t be in a hurry back there. All the staff seemed to be in a massive rush and barely let you finish speaking before they zoomed off!
Very convenient for Kings Cross / St Pancras. Warm friendly efficient staff and a vibrant atmosphere. The food was good but nothing special and very expensive for the quality
The perfect spot for a girlie brunch!
The restaurant manager Dominique really took care of us and made a lasting impression on us. Lots of care and attention - great service! The food is delicious!
Really busy, standing room only at the bar area at just after 5. The iceberg size lump of ice in my drink was as impractical as it was unnecessary. Able to go to table early and not rushed to finish in any time slot. All our dishes were beautifully presented and generous and tasted good too.
Glass found in food, extremely rude manager- no apology or sufficient compensation offered. Terrible service after finding glass in mouth!
Great food lovely waiters .. had a really tasty lunch
Excellent meal as always. Great staff and superb service. Thank you!
Overall a nice experience. However, we went for a cigarette after dinner and came back to na empty table and told we can no longer sit there, we would of gotten dessert and more drinks. It was 3:30pm so u likely there would be a rush until 5.
Amazing place. Unexpectedly large and vibrant bar/restaurant bang in the middle of Kings X. Architecture stunning, historically and aesthetically. A tad pricey though.
Nice meal, nice service, a go to venue
Nice venue, bland food
very lively and buzzing place (positive for me). lovely service and good food.
I love the German Gymnasium, I also have a good evening there.
We did not realise that 'Sharing Plate' was automatically for the entire table. There were four of us and ordered 2 sharing plates. Struggled to finish them all. The service was a bit slow. But good vibe and we had a wonderful evening.
Incredible. Set menu is amazing value. Phenomenal service, thank you!
Really lovely business lunch. Our waitress was really great and super friendly. We both have the Icelandic Cod which was delicious.
Food was average but service was excellent. I had a much better experience the previous time.
Everything about it was lovely, I can’t think of anything I could criticize. Staff were helpful and friendly, the food was delicious, the ambience was great. I’ll be back!
Lovely place, great food but waitress was a little unfriendly
Food and service are great as always, despite the place being full, we were served quite quickly
The wine we have ordered by glasses was impossible to drink. The fish was oversalted, out waiter had not enough time to serve us. The somelier had to help, otherwise we would not get our food
It's such a fun place with its grand atmosphere and interesting history. The food is excellent and the wine list is extensive. This place satisfies both casual diners and foodies.
Loved the venue, loved the food and drink. Great attentive service, well apart from the waitress not knowing what cider was! Can't wait to go back and eat there again.
German Gymnasium is always good - tasty food, decent portions, good value and nice service in a cool ambiance - a solid choice with a good range of food
Service was fantastic and everything else was too!!
The sommelier was knowledgable and listened to our references to find us a lovely organic Austrian red wine.
The restaurant was fully booked and yet nose levels in this gigantic restaurant remained acceptable.
The food was lovely with exception of the fact that they should serve more spätzle with the rib eye
Overcooked and inedible schnitzel which is appalling for a German Restaurant
This was one of the most authentic German/Austrian meals I have had outside of their respective countries. The schnitzel was lovely, the ambience was reminiscent of a Swiss chalet and the staff were sophisticated and timely. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was only ok and overpriced for what it is. The service was prompt and friendly. If you improve their quality of food to match with their price, I would make it a 4 star experience. My husband had a bad night after eating his October feast, he had to go to the toilet non stop throughout the night, so he would not be ordering that again.
Lovely dinner with a former work colleague. The good and service were both excellent. Only slight downside is that it is a very lively place so there is a lot of ambient noise. Not the place for a cosy chat in the evening. However I would certainly go back there again.
Good food, great atmosphere. Very good if you want to have the German dining experience!
Had the set menu as a group of 5 on a Saturday evening. Food quality and portion sizes just right - not to big or small. Very good tastes and some different options to many restaurants.
SERVICE - outstanding - not just the unobstrusive filling of water glasses - the high level of attention - eg when I went to the loo someone passing noticed my napkin and refolded it!
Well worth it and will go again as very convenient for Kings Cross/St Pancras
