Very consistent and delicious
Amazing service and even better food. SO happy we found this place and plan on making it our new go-to.
Our waiter was a nightmare. Phony and PUSHY and gave the same, ridiculous script to every single table around us - attempting to be funny and failing. New Yorkers do not need to be charmed by their "Italian" waiter. The bread was stale and the pasta was good. We were really pushed to buy expensive dishes and wine. It was off-putting and we will not be back.
On Saturday, August 10, 2019, we ate at Giano's. Giano has been in the East Village neighborhood for a long time, and one sees why--good food, friendly and attentive service, and reasonable prices for freshly-made pasta. We had the bolognese sauce and lasagna--just like Momma made. For dessert we had served Tiramisu--the largest piece ever! You must give this restaurant a try.
AMAZING fresh pasta. So flavorful. Didn’t feel overly full after eating either! The owners are so kind and really make sure you enjoy your experience. Will definitely be going back!
Service was excellent, employees were friendly. Waiter was entertaining and knowledgeable. They honored my request to add a birthday candle to the cake we ordered for my BF (a surprise) so thank you soooooo much!
Had an excellent meal on the patio where it was quieter than inside. Highly recommend eating here when in the East Village.
Our group of six had a lovely dinner. Attentive Service and very fresh housemade pastas. The specials were really good.
Charismatic waiter, great service and delicious food. We sat in the garden and it was lovely. Only too full to try the lava cake
Great homemade pasta. Reasonable prices. Excellent service.
Fabulous restaurant find in a neighborhood we don't normally go to. Giano was recommended by a friend who had been there before and she was spot on. Can't wait for a reason to go back.
Giano has a homey feel to it, and the staff treats you as if you are a part of the family. The daily homemade pasta is excellent.
Food was excellent. Best gluten free pasta I've had in NYC the past 4.5 years here. Burrata and Mediterranean salad were delicious. Would definitely come here again.
Good Italian quality food (I'm italian). Service is fast and friendly.
Ambient is quite and comfy.
Very authentic Italian cuisine and atmosphere. There were even folks speaking Italian at the bar. Delicious food!
Consistently good food can be found here, with a great staff!
I always find the staff great as well as the food. I like the quiet setting and now they have added outside patio seating. Maybe they had that before but I did not notice in colder weather.
Amazing food and wine.
Outstanding. Loved it. Definitely be back.
Good but not great. Not worthy of a 5 star review in New York City with the high quality of Italian that is available in the city.
Celebrated our daughter’s 21st birthday here. We have been several times and it is consistently one of our favorite NY restaurants. Great food, owner is attentive and joyous, and prices are reasonable, particularly for the quality of the food.
I have been here 10+ times. Always a wonderful experience. The pasta dishes are like being in Italy. The backyard garden is a hidden gem.
Food was authentic and service was incredible and genuine. Outside patio has great ambience. I felt like I was back in Italy!
Excellent food. Homemade pastas. The garden is a delightful spot for outdoor dining.
This was my first time coming here with a couple of friends and it was delicious!
The service was amazing. The waitress was very down to earth and attentive. I had the chicken Milanese which was so good. Perfectly cooked and crispy.
The restaurant has such a neighborhood feel- the waitress knew most of the locals coming in and everyone was so warm and welcoming.
At the end of our meal they gave us an aperitif on the house which was delicious.
I will definitely be coming back!
came for my husbands birthday and sat outside in the back garden. The waiter was so nice and attentive and the atmosphere was so pretty. We started with the burrata special appetizer which was delicious. Then my husband had the tagliatelle bolognese and I had the shrimp pasta special and both were awesome. Would definitely come back!
We take all of our out-of-town visitors here! Always delicious food, amazing service, and a lovely atmosphere.
Giano is my husband and my go-to Italian restaurant in the city for date nights and/or any time we have friends/family in town. The peach bellinis are an absolute favorite along with a great selection of reasonably priced wine. The staff is fantastic - energetic, genuine, and oh so welcoming! All of the pasta dishes are fantastic, the appetizers tasty (prosciutto wrapped asparagus) and the desserts (tiramisu) delish! HIGHLY recommend a visit!
The evening was lovely; food, wine, outdoor area and service. However, right after we had finished paying for the meal, we were basically asked to leave so that people who were waiting could have our outdoor table. While we complied, I found it hard to believe that we were asked to leave. Additionally, I was surprised to find that no one was waiting for a table (only 3 people at the bar) and there were 3 empty tables in the front of the restaurant. Giano's is a lovely place but they should allow guests to enjoy their meals beginning to end.
The food was excellent and would make me come back to Giano. We were served a glass of wine that very obviously came from a bottle that had been open for a few days. Service was good, but nothing to rave about.
Paulo is the best! Great outdoor tables in the back. Super food.
We love Giano!!! The service is great and they really made us feel at home. Our server was entertaining and we had a lot of fun with him, but he was also intuitive and very helpful. We had a group with some food allergies and they were all well accomodated. The food is some of the best in the East Village— maybe the whole city. We’ve been twice and have yet to have a disappointment. We will be back!
Great food, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. We sat in the garden and it made us feel like we were in Italy. Tried an appetizer special and entree special and both were luscious as well as the cheesecake and lava cake. Can’t wait to go back!
Nourriture : Simple et bon.
Restaurant : très mal décoré & trop sombre
Visit from overseas friends.
Fantastic food and service as usual ! Thank you Giano
Like being transported to Rome!
My family is from Naples, and I feel at home at Giano.
Food like my mother made!
Such a nice and enjoyable evening. Food was delicious and the staff were great. Also, very affordable by nyc standards!
Very good Italian restaurant on East 7th Street. Pastas are great. Meatball appetizer was good, but meatballs were a little salty - the best thing was the risotto special, the burrata and the mushroom pasta - delicious! Restaurant is small and very loud - but a nice ambiance.
