   Love the food and service. It is let down by the comfort of the seating. Also lack of air conditioning although tricky with the age of the building a couple of well placed dyson fans would be appreciated. The seating needs upgrading inside and out

   It’s a lovely location with a quiet courtyard, but I was a little disappointed with the food for the price, and with a 12.5% service charge and automatic donation attached, it didn’t feel great value for money.

   Perfect ambience outside on a (very) warm evening. We were well looked after - celebrating our wedding anniversary- and definite compliments to the Chef. Steak & lamb were particularly tasty!

    As usual the food was very good, perhaps a little on the expensive side. If anything the service was slow as only one waiter on our side. We had to wait nearly 25 minutes for our starter. A little more help and it would have been a perfect evening.

    We had a wonderful lunch there. We ate from the A la Carte (£100 for 2 including 3 soft drinks and service) but the set menu is exceptional value for the quality of food. The service was excellent as well.

    We booked a table for 2. When we arrived we discovered there was both indoor and outdoor seating (we hadn’t been offered a choice when booking). We asked for inside, but there was only one table free inside and it was absolutely tiny and cramped. I am average size but I couldn’t physically squeeze into one side and my wife was sat sticking out into the aisle on the other. We couldn’t sit there. Fortunately the weather was good and we were offered a table outside which was OK but a bit flimsy. The menu was limited but I have to say what we had was delicious. Service was excellent and quick. But I’m afraid we won’t be returning because of the logistics.

    We hadn’t been to Gilbey’s since before the pandemic. It was really lovely to be back. The outside seating area is fabulous. It was a hot day but under the tarpaulin it was nice and cool. Food was excellent, and service was timely, attentive and friendly. Looking forward to a return visit very soon.

    Excellent value lunch with various food and drinks choices available. Good service from well mannered table staff. The Sunday beef roast was plentiful and tasteful as was the fish and chips although keeping the skin on one side of the fish is off-putting. Being seated near the music amplifier in the downstair corner is uncomfortable as the music volume is set too high. Otherwise an pleasant Sunday afternoon dining experience.

    the salmon starter was good. the steak was crap; overcooked, poor quality meat (not dry aged or special), the bone-in was a cheap cut (for £33 give me an excellent rib eye or a filet) and it was soaked in crappy butter; the cheesecake was no better than marks and spencer and the rhubarb was inedible; the service was slow (considering i was a solo diner); the music was stuck on the same awful song for an hour. £75 without alcohol is poor value.

    Gilbey’s menu seems to have changed since the last time we dined there. Always good quality, on this visit it seemed a bit more modern. Prices are up but that’s true of everywhere since covid.

    We dined at Gilbey's for my wife's birthday and had a very pleasant experience. We had a nice table with a window and enjoyed two courses with wines. As it was a birthday, although we didn't have a desert, a nice scoop of ice-cream was brought with a candle in it, which was a nice touch. The dishes were well designed, cooked and presented and service was very pleasant and attentive. The only tiny downside is that the tables are quite closely packed so that you have to squeeze close to other diners to get around. Fortunately, we're not too large but we can imagine bigger people having problems! Altogether a good experience which we shall repeat.
