The table we had was close to the front door which did not close properly so we were cold most of the time we were there. I had to get up to close the door several times. The management should fix it as a priority.
It was ok. I think the starters was a bit expensive 8pound for 1stuffed mushroom. The menu has a lot to choose from but not a option to have a spicier meal no chillies etc only one dish as a starter.
Good service. Good food. Good value
Very good food, at reasonable prices. Nice staff. Quick service.
One of our group enquired if it was possible to have her main meal with a salad rather than chips. She was told it was not and the waiter made a comment about her being difficult. It completely ruined the mood. When the food did then arrive the meals had differing success. The pesto pasta was tasty but the vongole was bland.
I went with my team to have a lunch , we were 4 people in total. The place was empty. Only two of the staff was there. We ordered pretty simple foods - soups and main courses. Soups came relatively quick. The place was still empty when we finished our starters. Then, we had to wait more than 30 min for our main courses. In the meantime three other tables were sat and they had their food almost immediately. We were still waiting .... Then after a long wait we were served a dry risotto that was literally cold, I thought most probably heated and stayed for sometime outside-but inside was cold too. My team received cold food too. I didn’t finish my risotto as it was horrible. One guy from my team finished his fish although the garnish was cold as he was very hungry. I told the server that we weren’t happy and that the food was cold. He said:”ok, thanks”?!!? Then we asked for the bill which was £110 that I found very expensive for his experience. They will never see us again obviously, but be warned that this is NOT the place to go if you’re looking for a proper Italian cuisine.. so disappointed! Extremely!!!!
Lovely staff! We got our food extra quick as we were going to theatre. Bit too much cheese on the pizza for me but I would definitely go back for a proper more relaxed meal. Nice atmosphere too!
Went with friends for dinner. Good choice on menu with lots to suit different tastes. Food well presented and tasty. As it was December, lots of people enjoying their pre christmas meal. A great atmosphere.
My first visit for a supper with my son. A good neighbourhood Italian in the anonymous New Oxford St. Friendly staff and speedy service. An extensive menu and a small well chosen wine list. The food was well seasoned and the small vegetable contorni was just right. A better meal than we expected and good value for the area.
We chose Giotto as a place for nice Italian meal before the theatre. The food was good, but the service was quite bad. Servers and hosts were courteous, but after being seated, a full 30 min passed before we were offered anything to drink or to take our dinner order. A full hour from when we first arrived passed before any food arrived. There was no followup (e.g. offer to refill drinks) at any time. Overall, it seemed to us that the restaurant was a bit understaffed and easily overwhelmed. We’d recommend a visit only at a time when the restaurant is relatively uncrowded.
A nice meal , good service and tasty food
Really loved the atmosphere service and food were excellent. Great deserts
This was our second time dining at Giotto Restaurant. The food and service were excellent, love the location, and especially love the ambiance. They have a pianist! Very nice!
We had a very nice pizza here but it wasn’t worthy of a mention in dispatches. Not bad prices. Central location . Pleasant and efficient staff
1st class,enjoyed every minuet,.Excellent owner and staff.
Had dinner here pre-theatre: excellent service, very friendly staff, tasty food, great location and very reasonable price.
Good location, food was ok. Good selection on menu. Service a little slow.
Food was quite nice, good ambiance but slow service.
Two of us dined here before going to the theatre. It is a small and cosy restaurant. When we arrived (5:30pm) the restaurant had just a couple of tables in use, however, this soon changed and became busy very quickly. We enjoyed our food (although I would choose a different dish next time as, to me, the salmon was too citrusy). Our starter was served quite quickly but it did take some while before our main arrived. Ok, the two of us used this time to catch up but....we felt the wait didn't need to be as long. All in all though, we had a nice meal........and the coffee is excellent!!
When we arrived we were asked if we were going to the theatre. We were advised our menu choices would take time to cook. In the event it was all fine - the food was good and fresh and we arrived at the theatre in time to see the show - so well done all round!
Nice place for good value food, loved the live pianist.. calamari starter was really tasty, as was pizza.. the chicken alfredo pasta was a bit bland, but overall good experience, service prompt and friendly
Nice meal before a trip to the theatre, service was excellent and the piano player was a nice touch. I thought it was good value given its location.
Very good for pre theatre meal. Plenty of selection of dishes with option of a set menu too. Nice atmosphere with pianist playing in the background. Would definitely recommend and will return again soon.
Read the previous reviews and most were positive so was looking forward to it but ended up being very disappointed. Starters were good (Bruschetta and Tricolore salad) but 3 of the 4 main course, all veal, had to be sent back because they were barely luke warm. On return mine was not much better and even the side portion of spaghetti wasn't hot - how difficult can it be to plunge the pasta in a pot of boiling water for a minute or 2 to heat it up?? Won't be going back!!!!!
As lovely as the staff were, our pizza was slightly burnt but they did change it as straight away without fuss which was great!
This was a regular lunch nothing amazing, just nice food and worth the money.
The restaurant had a fawlty towers ambience but the food itself was good! Service was a little forgetful but not a disaster!
Lovely food. Staff friendly. The service was a little slow that was the only thing. Good Value for money.
Went here for pre theatre meal. Giotto gave me a baaaad tummy. Had to leave the theatre mid act...
The food was lovely, starters, mains and one tiramisu to share. Service was excellent, didn't have to wait for anything beyond the norm. Pleasant live music which wasn't too much or too loud. Only a stone's throw away from the Shaftesbury Theatre. Would definitely come here again.
Put a seat in a corner, starter was Luke warm, main was ok,music was terrible asked for italian music waitress looked at the waitress and laughed.
i went because there were good ratings on top table but all four of us found it totally underwhelming. Dull place. Mediocre food
We went to Giotto's because of a pre-theatre meal and enjoyed the food very much. Excellent location for the theatre and I would go there again. I will also recommend the restaurant to other friends who wish to eat before they take in a show.
I do not like the fact that you have to write a specific number of words. This annoys me very much and I was about to leave the website. I will do this only one time and will not give another review if this is not changed immediately. You will miss out on lots of reviews because of it!!!
A lovely friendly restaurant with a good menu. Great choice of food beautifully presented and cooked. Very good value too. I will hopefully return there again
staff very friendly without being intrusive food very nice and homely cooking
would recomend this place and go again.
found the giotto restuarant very easily ordered meals and drinks which arrived promptly thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal would definitely go again on return to london
Nice place to eat if they gave service up larger meals, (E.G. more veg)
Beer and wine to expensive for an Italian restaurant.
I visited Giotto on Tuesday 31st May with my niece. We had been to the Theatre and we went for a post theatre dinner. We enjoyed good food which was well priced with good service and really enjoyed the pianist - lovely background music. I would go again and I will recommend to friends.
We had a post theatre meal here and whilst the eating menu is extensive, the drinks menu isn't as wide ranging, just two lagers of choice of two rose wines. My partner wishes he had a starter as he found the main was not quite enough, think we are used to being served platefuls of pasta! Overall, we liked the piano music, although a good guitar would be great too, the staff were professional, just think it needed a bit more 'ambience' to make this restaurant a 5 star dining experience.
Quick friendly service, just what was needed for pre-theatre. Vegetables were a little cool, but other than that food was great and pianist adds a nice touch to the vibe. Second time eating here and would definitely go back.
Great choice of food and every dish was absolutely delicious. Those with special dietary needs were deLt with quietly and efficiently. We all want to come again on our next visit to London. Great value also
