Good food and good service at a reasonable price. Nice busy atmosphere pre-show in the west end good to see again
Had lunch .. before the theatre .. good service.. good food .. nice house red wine ..
Welcoming staff and tasty food. Good value for a pre-theatre dinner.
Went for dinner here with my mum after a big day out in London doing tourist things. We used the Meerkat Meals discount here, which made the meal such a bargain! We both had the lasagne and garlic bread - oh my goodness, unbelievable food! So tasty and cheesy, the garlic bread was amazing dipped in the lasagne sauces!
Did also order dessert - mum had the tiramisu and I have the sticky toffee bombe. Mum said her tiramisu was a bit watery in texture but tasted great. I thought the sticky toffee bombe would’ve been a warm sticky toffee pudding-type dessert, but it was actually toffee ice cream with a chocolate shell over the top. Still tasty though and would eat again!
The staff at Giotto were so lovely and accommodating. We were a tad late, phoned up to say so and they were so lovely about it. I also was in desperate need to charge my phone so that I could use it for train tickets after dinner and they were also more than happy to help me.
We had a bit of trouble getting the bill, asking one member of staff 2 times and in the end another staff member came over with it. I’m going to assume this was a new member of staff who we asked for the bill originally, so perhaps not a big issue! We did have to leg it a bit to get our train though, so first time would’ve been best in an ideal world, but never mind :)
Food was terrific service was even better. After the meal one of the servers was so nice in talking to us and even wrote us a list of parks to visit while in London.
Very poor, low quality food- I ordered a pizza and I was served a low quality uncooked oven pizza instead! It is very disgraceful to call yourself an ‘Italian’ restaurant but then you can’t even cook pizza from scratch! I have been tried better oven pizzas! Don’t go to this restaurant if you are looking for good quality, authentic Italian food.
Lovely simple Italian restaurant near the British Museum. Lovely spaghetti al pomodoro.
The foccaccia was a joke. Way too dry, no taste. Mozzarella within Caprese was also quite dry and definitely with way too little olive oil. Portions were rather small. Not coming back.
Well what a little find this place is. The food was excellent yummy lasagna huge tiramisu plenty to share. We were on the street but it's not too busy this end. Funniest bit was when a pigeon decided to break lockdown rules and go inside, Mario the waiter calmer caught it and released it back onto the street without breaking a sweat. Amazing little place looks gorgeous inside too. Can't wait to go back
We were supposed to go to the Dorchester for a birthday dinner instead the evening we went to Giotto. The Dorchester cancelled us due to bad weather at a moments notice and we managed to get a table here. Best decision ever! Wonderful food, service, ambience... who needs the Dorchester!!!
We really enjoyed the food here. The menu was reduced to what we'd previously read online but there was still a range of choices. The food and drinks arrived very quickly.
We lucked out with the weather so the alfresco dining felt almost like being in continental Europe. The staff was very good; there at the right times, friendly, and the food and dishes were served promptly and cleared away at the appropriate time without feeling rushed. Good value for money. Casual Italian dining, as desired.
Great food, reasonable prices, good atmosphere. Tables were too close together though! Felt like I had to climb over other people every time I wanted to leave my table.
Nice food and drink at a good price. Went there for a work lunch and was happy with the service and overall experience :)
Me and my friend were served by the most wonderful Hassan. He was so patient, so kind and so smiley. As me and my friend are deaf, he was using hand and body gesture which was extremely thoughtful of him. Would definitely recommend all my deaf families and friends to come here. We need such people like him :)
Good choice of a place, decent food and nice service
For a pre-theatre meal but not for Valentines Day.
The table we had was close to the front door which did not close properly so we were cold most of the time we were there. I had to get up to close the door several times. The management should fix it as a priority.
It was ok. I think the starters was a bit expensive 8pound for 1stuffed mushroom. The menu has a lot to choose from but not a option to have a spicier meal no chillies etc only one dish as a starter.
Good service. Good food. Good value
Very good food, at reasonable prices. Nice staff. Quick service.
One of our group enquired if it was possible to have her main meal with a salad rather than chips. She was told it was not and the waiter made a comment about her being difficult. It completely ruined the mood. When the food did then arrive the meals had differing success. The pesto pasta was tasty but the vongole was bland.
I went with my team to have a lunch , we were 4 people in total. The place was empty. Only two of the staff was there. We ordered pretty simple foods - soups and main courses. Soups came relatively quick. The place was still empty when we finished our starters. Then, we had to wait more than 30 min for our main courses. In the meantime three other tables were sat and they had their food almost immediately. We were still waiting .... Then after a long wait we were served a dry risotto that was literally cold, I thought most probably heated and stayed for sometime outside-but inside was cold too. My team received cold food too. I didn’t finish my risotto as it was horrible. One guy from my team finished his fish although the garnish was cold as he was very hungry. I told the server that we weren’t happy and that the food was cold. He said:”ok, thanks”?!!? Then we asked for the bill which was £110 that I found very expensive for his experience. They will never see us again obviously, but be warned that this is NOT the place to go if you’re looking for a proper Italian cuisine.. so disappointed! Extremely!!!!
Lovely staff! We got our food extra quick as we were going to theatre. Bit too much cheese on the pizza for me but I would definitely go back for a proper more relaxed meal. Nice atmosphere too!
Went with friends for dinner. Good choice on menu with lots to suit different tastes. Food well presented and tasty. As it was December, lots of people enjoying their pre christmas meal. A great atmosphere.
My first visit for a supper with my son. A good neighbourhood Italian in the anonymous New Oxford St. Friendly staff and speedy service. An extensive menu and a small well chosen wine list. The food was well seasoned and the small vegetable contorni was just right. A better meal than we expected and good value for the area.
We chose Giotto as a place for nice Italian meal before the theatre. The food was good, but the service was quite bad. Servers and hosts were courteous, but after being seated, a full 30 min passed before we were offered anything to drink or to take our dinner order. A full hour from when we first arrived passed before any food arrived. There was no followup (e.g. offer to refill drinks) at any time. Overall, it seemed to us that the restaurant was a bit understaffed and easily overwhelmed. We’d recommend a visit only at a time when the restaurant is relatively uncrowded.
A nice meal , good service and tasty food
Really loved the atmosphere service and food were excellent. Great deserts
This was our second time dining at Giotto Restaurant. The food and service were excellent, love the location, and especially love the ambiance. They have a pianist! Very nice!
We had a very nice pizza here but it wasn’t worthy of a mention in dispatches. Not bad prices. Central location . Pleasant and efficient staff
1st class,enjoyed every minuet,.Excellent owner and staff.
Had dinner here pre-theatre: excellent service, very friendly staff, tasty food, great location and very reasonable price.
Good location, food was ok. Good selection on menu. Service a little slow.
Food was quite nice, good ambiance but slow service.
Two of us dined here before going to the theatre. It is a small and cosy restaurant. When we arrived (5:30pm) the restaurant had just a couple of tables in use, however, this soon changed and became busy very quickly. We enjoyed our food (although I would choose a different dish next time as, to me, the salmon was too citrusy). Our starter was served quite quickly but it did take some while before our main arrived. Ok, the two of us used this time to catch up but....we felt the wait didn't need to be as long. All in all though, we had a nice meal........and the coffee is excellent!!
When we arrived we were asked if we were going to the theatre. We were advised our menu choices would take time to cook. In the event it was all fine - the food was good and fresh and we arrived at the theatre in time to see the show - so well done all round!
Nice place for good value food, loved the live pianist.. calamari starter was really tasty, as was pizza.. the chicken alfredo pasta was a bit bland, but overall good experience, service prompt and friendly
Nice meal before a trip to the theatre, service was excellent and the piano player was a nice touch. I thought it was good value given its location.
Very good for pre theatre meal. Plenty of selection of dishes with option of a set menu too. Nice atmosphere with pianist playing in the background. Would definitely recommend and will return again soon.
Read the previous reviews and most were positive so was looking forward to it but ended up being very disappointed. Starters were good (Bruschetta and Tricolore salad) but 3 of the 4 main course, all veal, had to be sent back because they were barely luke warm. On return mine was not much better and even the side portion of spaghetti wasn't hot - how difficult can it be to plunge the pasta in a pot of boiling water for a minute or 2 to heat it up?? Won't be going back!!!!!
